On November 7, 2024, Denmark used a racist, culturally biased "parenting competency" test to remove a 2 hour old baby, Zammi, from her loving indigenous Greenlandic Inuit mother, Keira, because her native language, which uses minute facial expressions to communicate, will not be able to "[prepare] the child for the social expectations and codes that are necessary to navigate in Danish society." This test had been recommended not to be used at the federal level before this happened but certain municipalities, including the one this happened in, chose to continue to use it regardless. Not only is this blatantly racist but also violates multiple declarations and conventions that Denmark has signed that protect the rights of indigenous people.
Please sign this petition to help Keira to get her baby back.
This is why I'm begging you to spare anything you can for @noor-yashour who is fundraising for her disabled son, Muhammad, 4 years of age. He was receiving physical therapy in order to be able to walk but with his treatment on hold during the genocide, his condition is rapidly deteriorating.
The kids are alright.
I feel weird saying this about Los Angeles, but people are going to need help. We've got record breaking fires right now, and several insurers went on a spree cancelling fire coverage for peoples houses. So, if their home goes up, they have no help. Palisades is burning in a richer area, so is Pasadena. That doesn't mean they're exclusively rich people zones. Yeah, VP Harris' neighborhood was evac'd, but it looks like 75% of Palisades could be gone.
So when you see fundraisers for people, please don't lump everyone into a bucket called Rich Bastards. It's bad. Historic, record breaking bad. I know one person who confirmed that his house is gone. Two more who evac'd and don't know if their house survived. And at this point, half a dozen in warning zones.
I am fine where I am, and tbh, if my location ever got evac'd for a fire of this kind, it would be the kind of fire that just gets called The Great [City Name] Fire. Don't worry about me.
Hold some compassion for folks, please. Your first thought of LA is probably rich bastards. That's the vocal minority. Housing is appallingly expensive, and people who just lost fire coverage are losing everything.

I am Heba Al-Dahdouh. I currently live in the completely destroyed city of Gaza. Since the war on Gaza began on 7/1/2024, my family- my father Nasif, my mother Asmaa, and my siblings Khaled, Ahmad, Muhammad, and Malak-have been living in constant fear, crying, and suffering due to shrapnel, shells, and bullets.
We have no food, no electricity, no cooking gas, no schools, no homes, no cleaning supplies, and no clothes. Our house was completely destroyed. My school has been bombed, and my brother Khaled's university is now rubble, depriving us all of education. The war has forced us to live in displacement centers, which are just tents unsuitable for living, especially in winter.
Every day we live death, terror, and panic a thousand times because of the ongoing bombardment of my city. The war has killed more than 50 of my relatives and neighbors. At the start of the war, we sought refuge at my aunt's house, but it too became rubble. Imagine: we have survived imminent death more than 20 times and have been displaced among shelters more than 13 times. My siblings and I have suffered from many illnesses due to malnutrition, and we need medication continuously.
If we stay in Gaza, we might lose our lives. Recently, we have been seriously considering leaving Gaza for a safe place. However, travel costs are extremely high. We need over $50,000 to leave Gaza. Due to exorbitant prices, rampant unemployment, lack of security, the ongoing siege, and relentless bombardment, we have lost all our money. How can we live in such insecurity, with constant shelling and shrapnel flying above us? Dear compassionate friends around the world,
With your generous donations, even if small, you can save 7 people from imminent death, allowing us to start a life outside Gaza filled with love, peace, and hope.
With my warmest regards from the city of Gaza,
Heba Al-Dahdouh
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission is soliciting public comment "to better understand how technology platforms deny or degrade (such as by 'demonetizing' and 'shadow banning') users’ access to services based on the content of the users’ speech or their affiliations, including activities that take place outside the platform."
This is the brainchild of FTC Chairman and rabid Trumpista Andrew Ferguson, who recently said that DEI "violates natural law." He is hoping these comments will say that social media companies are persecuting poor innocent right-wing transphobes by shutting down their accounts when they post hate speech/misinformation.
In the real world, we know that many victims of deplatforming are (a) queer people and (b) sex workers and other folks who post content about sex. If you or someone you know has had an account shut down, had content removed, or otherwise had their access to services denied or degraded for those reasons, please consider submitting a comment about it. The comment period closes May 21st. I understand folks may not be comfortable giving any info to the government right now, but you have the option to submit anonymously, or as part of an organization.
Right now, most of the comments are exactly what this guy wants: they're from conservatives complaining about being banned for, e.g., spreading vaccine misinformation. If that continues, the FTC will able to use that record of comments as justification to go after companies that are trying to fight misinformation and hate speech. By submitting a comment, you can prevent that! (Also, it would be incredibly satisfying to watch drag queens and cam girls crash this dude's conservative pity party. Even if you don't believe it will really make a difference (it will!), do it for that.)
