like I can get how the line can get taken out of context but like it was the 2000s from what I remember from cousins I've had tell me it wasn't all that great for lgbtq+ people, plus what Kevin said does make sense from the state of it being a sport team and a college 1 thingy at that as well as the fact that they'd be in the public eye and under scrutiny for things like ik we don't fully know how the exy fans reacted to Neil going for riko but like we can just tell that from what the raven fans did kost likely no one liked him.

and like "it's easier to remain heterosexual" the whole wording of that is like to me he doesn't care what you do with other people about your personal relationships however going I the public eye it would be easy to play off being straight like going with paparazzi today they are invasive with what they do to people in the public eye like imagine the backlash from homophobic people if they find out one of their favourite footballers/soccer players are gay it wouldn't go down well, so Kevin was being very caring on suggesting it he wasn't demanding that neil remain straight Kevin couldn't really care less about Neil's swing situation he wasn't really raised to care relationships anyway If I remember correctly so yeah.

Kevin was being a good teammate and giving a suggestion that he believes/believed (irk if it changed) would help neil in the long run plus he says this like before finding out who neil is (if I recall correctly) so he was saying it while also having hopes that neil would go pro

this is low-key why I have so many issues rereading the first book like I know the Eden scene doesn't happen in chapter 3 or 4 (idk which chapter) but I know that in 4 the jokes start getting made by nicky and you'd think that after Andrew threatens him with a knife for the jokes he'd cut it out but no he doesn't like granted andrew wasn't fuly in the right for drugging neil and then leaving him alone but he did trust his cousin to not do that shit and andrew had his valid reasons for what he did but I just couldn't hop on the nicky bang wagon don't get me does his character get better sure but I just can't like him because of it I know that (if I remember neil does forgive him although I'm pretty sure nicky never apologised for it corrsct me if I'm wrong been a bit since I've read the books) but like I wouldn't forgive that shit at all in fact I'd get violent I'd start throwing punches

Andrew told Nicky to watch Neil the first time they took him to Eden's. the drugging I understand, since they thought he was a rat. Nicky, however, decided to go a step further and sexually assault Neil.

a lot of the time with Nicky, people say that they would've forgiven him if they were Neil. great. i wouldn't, and don't. i think what he's done for the twins is great, i hope he has a great life with Erik, but because of what he did to Neil, I do not like him at all.

he also made a lot of "jokes" about raping Kevin and Neil, which just put him further down on my list.
