*ANGRY BEETLE NOISES*
context: I rolled a log over and found a group of passalids (Odontotaenius disjunctus) so i put them in my hand to take pics. Then I noticed another one on the other side of the log, but that one must’ve been from a different colony because they did not get along

[Video ID: a compilation of fotage from a trail camera focused on a man-made watering hole, which is a very large bowl with rocks in it. It’s in a desert area with lots of bushes and trees, though much of the landscape is hard to see due to the low-down angle. To me it looks like the deserts in western North America, but I could be wrong.
Throughout the video lots of animals stop by for a drink! In order they are: a coyote, a skunk, a raccoon, an opossum, a snake (I think a garter snake?), a small brown song bird, a hare, a hawk (possibly a juvenile Cooper’s hawk), a hummingbird, a variety of small song birds taking a bath, and a western scrub jay, also taking a bath.
The audio is mostly splashing from the animals drinking or from the fountain. In the clip of the hawk you can also faintly hear song birds and the flapping of the hawk’s wings. The song birds taking a bath together keep letting out short, shrill chirps. /End ID]

February is right around the corner, which means it’s soon time for Funguary 2023! the drawing event where we draw a bunch of mushroom based characters during the month of feb.
Here’s how it works:
Each week of the month will have a theme with seven different prompts, draw something mushroom related within that theme in order to join. The themes are Weird, Mystical, Malicious and Friendly. You don’t have to complete all the prompts, just one mushroom per theme/week is plenty!
If you’re hardcore you can definitely try and finish all the prompts though ;). The challenge intensity is adjustable to what suits you. This is a chill event where the goal is to just have fun and vibe, and honor the fungi kingdom with some really cool art🍄
I invite you all to come draw mushrooms with me! Use the hashtag #Funguary when posting your creations. I’ll be posting some of the creations here, and I’ll also be hanging out in the hashtag and comment sections! Really hope y’all join and draw fungi with me🥰🍄🌿 See you all on the first of February, LETS GOOOO!!

Me: oh yeah, if you think school photography is hard now, try imagining doing this with film.
The new girl: what’s film?
Me: … film. Like… film that goes in a film camera.
New girl: what’s that mean?
Me: … before cameras were digital.
New girl: how did you do it before digital?
Me:… with film? I haven’t had enough coffee for this conversation
