Princess Latifa Is Missing!

Princess Latifa Is Missing!

Princess Latifa of Duba (in the UAE) has recently gone missing, but not before posting a chilling video of herself, stating that “if you are watching this video, then I’m either dead, or in a really really bad situation.”

Latifa is a member of the Dubai royal family, and recently decided to defect from the authoritarian regime, in which she had previously lived as a prisoner under her own father.

She recently tried to escape on a yacht. However the yacht was apprehended by Emirates forces and Princess Latifa was taken. She has since been missing. Her fate is unclear.

Human rights groups are counting on applying pressure on the UAE government to clarify her current location. The Dubai government has responded by accusing those who have reported her missing as criminals. The validity of this statement is highly questioned.

Princess Latifa is likely in grave, life threatening danger. Every reblog can contribute to the mounting pressure on the UAE government to reveal her location. Please reblog, we might save someone’s life.

❗️TIME SENSITIVE❗️

Hello 👋🏽 I am a physically disabled black woman, an artist, and the sole caretaker of my autistic brother.

Last year, our home was sold from underneath us after our father passed away and my brother and I were left with almost nothing, and nowhere to go. We lost everything. And since, have been struggling every single day to survive and keep a roof over our heads.

We are fighting the system for assistance for my brother, but have been denied twice despite full proof of the extent of disability.

They Do Not Want Us To Live.

But we don't want to give up. We're raising funds for housing so that we can keep trying to survive together. Black Disabled Lives Matter. We should be allowed the same tools to live as everyone else. So we ask for your help.

Please help us, share our GoFundMe, share our story, donate if you can. Help us keep a roof over our heads so that we can KEEP TRYING.

Thank you 🙏🏽💜

“Years and years ago, there was a production of The Tempest, out of doors, at an Oxford college on a lawn, which was the stage, and the lawn went back towards the lake in the grounds of the college, and the play began in natural light. But as it developed, and as it became time for Ariel to say his farewell to the world of The Tempest, the evening had started to close in and there was some artificial lighting coming on. And as Ariel uttered his last speech, he turned and he ran across the grass, and he got to the edge of the lake and he just kept running across the top of the water — the producer having thoughtfully provided a kind of walkway an inch beneath the water. And you could see and you could hear the plish, plash as he ran away from you across the top of the lake, until the gloom enveloped him and he disappeared from your view. And as he did so, from the further shore, a firework rocket was ignited, and it went whoosh into the air, and high up there it burst into lots of sparks, and all the sparks went out, and he had gone. When you look up the stage directions, it says, ‘Exit Ariel.’”

i love it when ancient historians give descriptions of locations and include folklore about them. :)

"The name of the local river is Bodincus. Apart from these facts, various tales about this river are familiar to Greeks, especially the legend of Phaeton and his fall, with its weeping poplars and black-clad river-dwellers (who still today are said to dress like this out of grief for Phaeton)" (polybius, histories)

bodincus is the po, on which I guess there were 'river-dwellers' who wore all black in Polybius day? probably not for that reason tho

COVID is slowly becoming a “third world” disease. While first world countries are hoarding vaccines, having doses for populations many times their size, third world countries can’t get any because pharma companies want to sell to the first world countries first. Even then, first world countries will receive them first. While rich countries recover from COVID, they will forget about the pandemic while many other countries live the absolute worst moment of the pandemic without being able to vaccinate their population.

“the submarine trip was stupid and rooted in classism”, “it’s absolutely hideous how much more manpower was put into saving and reporting on them vs the 500 migrants who died in a similar horrible fashion”, and “despite their actions, no human being (especially not a nineteen year old) should deserve to die like this, especially when their death will not actually herald any positive change/abolishment of the billionaire class” are three thoughts than can and should coexist. you don’t have to mourn their deaths, but you don’t need to celebrate them, either.
