I feel like ive seen quite a few gfms getting passed around and ive observed that a lot of them have stories of such exceptional people who have achieved so much, or were going to before the genocide cut it off. And i really commend them for it, i really do.
But it breaks my heart that palestinians reaching out to us feel the need to have to prove that they are they are good people who are worth the support, like theyre only worth being supported if they had a good gpa or were exceptional in some way.
They shouldnt have to prove that theyre beneficial to the economy somehow to be worth the support. They shouldnt have to be exceptional to deserve help. Our governments are putting them through this, both in the west and around the world too. They shouldnt have to prove anything. We owe them this

I can't believe so many Good Omens fans and content creator are being guilt tripped into dropping the book and show as a whole in fear of being seen as a Neil Gaiman apologist, it is completely fine to separate art from the artist people have been doing it for YEARS ( see harry potter, miraculous ladybug etc. ) If it's a purely personal choice then I understand but if people are doing it out of fear of being judged then that's a problem. Also is everybody just gonna leave out the fact Terry Pratchett also wrote the book? It wasn't just Neil. We can still support the amazing person and writer that was Terry, the performances of Michael Sheen and David Tennant plus everybody else that was involved in the making of the show. Stop giving Neil ALL the credit.

If the ONLY LINE YOU CARE ABOUT is line 12, you have an incredible amount of privilege, AND YOU DO NOT CARE ABOUT PALESTINIANS. You obviously have nothing to fear from a Trump presidency, and you do not give a fuck if a ceasefire actually occurs. You are obviously fine if your queer, disabled, and marginalized loved ones are hurt. You clearly don't care about the status of American democracy, which Trump has openly stated he plans to destroy on day 1 he is in office.
I haven’t seen this said yet, even though I think it’s vital: if you’re a Neil Gaiman fan who is freaked out by the sexual assault allegations against him, Tumblr and Twitter are not good sources of information.
I spent five minutes looking to see what the public opinion was after reading several articles about this, and there was a lot of misinformation and shaming being done on every side of something that we shouldn’t be arguing over. It’s honestly not worth it to look, and if you’ve been at it for a while, consider taking a break to regroup. There’s a lot of misplaced anger and it sucks to see innocent fans get caught in the crossfire of a situation that, quite honestly, has nothing to do with them.
We have lived through this before.
People said Gore wasn't good enough, that he was Bland and uninteresting and middle of the road and something had to change. So they voted third party or they didn't vote at all. And the Democratic party didn't wake up, and we got George W Bush and all the absolute hot garbage that came with him.
And they said Hillary Clinton was the wrong candidate, that she was middle of the road at best and conservative for the Democrats at worst, that she was entitled and they were going to vote for a third party or they didn't vote at all or worse yet, they voted for the other candidate as a joke because it's not like those votes change things, you know? And the Democratic party didn't magically wake up, they didn't majorly change, and we are still dealing with the fallout from that.
And that's not only twice in my lifetime, but twice in my voting lifetime. One of the important things you learn in therapy is that you cannot change other people, and you cannot set your expectations based on how you think they ought to react to certain things.
If you are refusing to vote, or voting third-party because of what you think it's going to make someone else do, please reconsider.
If you want to make the liberals or the centrists or whatever you want to call them wake up, you're going to need to do something that hasn't already been done twice in the last 20 years.

Given the TERF-y nature of the podcast, I will wait for better reporting on the worst of the allegations, but let's consider the thing we know is true because it was in his own statement - he is an older man who repeatedly seeks out 20 year old women for sexual relationships.
Legal? Yes.
Creepy and pathetic? Also yes.
Really, really common in this world? Very depressingly, yes.
A classic Reddit AITA red flag on a path that leads to toxic controlling behaviour in a relationship? Also yes.
That's enough on its own for me to think "ew, what a loser".
For the sake of everyone, all of us who are coming at this news from different backgrounds and experiences, I beg us all to be kind to our fellow fandom members and give everyone the initial benefit of the doubt as we process this news and learn more information in the coming days. People will be furious, they’ll be devastated, they’ll be cynical, they’ll be hopeful. All of these emotions are a valid early response to learning ugly things about the creator of a piece of media that’s incredibly dear to you. Let’s be gentle with one another.
I know it may be shocking, but you can still love Good Omens despite this situation. This is a great book and series written by Anthony J. Crowley.
