Should anyone tell OP that India’s so called “occupation of Kashmir” did not start with Modi. Even congress held on to Kashmir and so did any party that came in power (as they fucking should). Plus, OP telling that Modi sent 10,000 soldiers in Kashmir is interesting because he manages to fucking forgets to mention that there had been a terror attack in February that killed 40 army personnel (Pulwama). Also it makes sense for Kashmir to be militarized because they are on a border with a country that would love to annex Kashmir (already did annex a part of it), and plus it is a region where terrorists have done things again and again. Also for revoking article 370, well any sensible PM would revoke it because it caused a fucking GENOCIDE in the past when it was misused. Plus, it makes sense that a region that is continuously attacked, has terror attacks etc. should be in more gov’t control? Because are we really going to burden the state government with that responsibility. Keeping in mind that Kashmir’s main revenue source is tourism, why wouldn’t the people want tourism. The locals seem happy the economy is doing well? Also, if Indian army was abusing people of Kashmir, how the fuck would tourism be on the incline? Let's talk about Chaiti (चैती)

It is a folk song genre sung in Awadhi and Bhojpuri in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Nepal and neighbouring areas.

Chaiti is specifically sung during the month of चैत्र—or as we call it in Awadhi, चैत—where it gets its name from. The most important aspect of a chaiti for me is the usage of रामा. I have never heard of a chaiti without it.

There are devotional songs—especially sung during राम नवमी and चैत्र नवरात्र. There are songs about the season itself—the koel’s call, the flowers that blossom in spring, and mango trees, the changing weather. And then there are the songs of yearning (बिरहा), sung by a बिरहन, a woman in longing. Why? Because spring is here, but the one she wants to experience it with is not.

A woman, somewhere in India, gets assaulted. The news channels picks it up. The internet erupts. People are angry, grieving, and demanding justice.

Feminists across the nation say: it's happened again, we know the criminals are clearly men, it's always men, we need stronger laws to protect us, punishment needs to be harsh for assaults, men are the danger, let's not trust them, ever again.

Parents across the nation sit down with their sons and daughters and tell them - be careful around men, be cautious, be alert.

They don't ask them to stop talking to their male coworkers, their male friends at school or college, in the neighbourhood, they don't ask them to not board a cab if the driver is male. Or ask them to never share the same space as a man.

Because fear is exhausting.

And now a hate crime against Hindus is committed in Kashmir. The news covers it, it's all over the internet, everyone is grieving, fuming over it, talking about it. And we know why the victims were shot.

The only motive terrorists have is spread fear. And they've clearly sent across that message. But it's on us to fix it. Let's not ask others to not trust their Muslim friends, neighbours, coworkers, don't let this break those bonds. Just be alert, be careful, be cautious.

Don’t let this fear turn into hate. Don’t let one crime make you burn every bridge. Don’t carry the weight of suspicion everywhere you go.
