Post TUE, but like, right after
“Recognized: Phantom B-08”
Zatanna and Artemis disengaged from the spar, turning to Zeta-Tubes almost in tandem with the rest of the Team. Wally caught himself preparing to the fight.
There was simultaneously a lot and very little Team knew about Phantom. They knew his favorite constellation, his favorite level in Doomed and his typical fast-food order and which parts were better or worse than Nasty Burger in every fast food place they visited. They didn't know whether he was ghost or meta or something else, they didn't know his non-hero name or if he had one at all.
There were things falling somewhere in between on this spectrum.
But they knew for the fact that he wasn't supposed to come in today and that he didn't use Zeta-Tubes unless situation was really dire. Yet even then it usually required a lot of convincing, as seen during whole Klarion-two-Earths debacle. At some point during it, Wally considered how faster would it be if he just asked Phantom to stack up on high- calory food and run to pick him up instead. In the end he didn't say anything, because ghost agreed, sounding like he was just sentenced to the gallows. Understandable, considering his... everything around portals in general, but especially ones that feel like they're taking someone apart. But! The point was, hearing Zeta-Tube call out Phantom was not normal nor a good sign. Fact that they didn't know what was going on or expecting him was unprecedented.
Wally sprinted out to get fire blanket. They owned actual weighted blanket, carefully washed and [wietrzony] to make sure it wasn’t smelling bad to anyone with enhanced senses, but for some reason fire blanket worked on the ghost the best.
He was back before other boy fully settled against wall of the Zeta-Tube, tugging at his hair like he did when he needed to calm down. It’s not like slowly breathing really did anything for him. Wally wrapped him up, making sure it was tight enough that hands he put down would not have room to do any real damage. It tended to happen when he was like this.
Wally very carefully didn’t think about the fact that Phantom didn’t even have enough energy or presence of mind to leave Zeta-Tube even though it was always first thing he did. Even, or maybe especially, when he forgot where he was for a moment.
Rest of the Team crowded around them, talking soft encouragements, rubbing his back and hair, tapping rhythm for him to… just overall ground him, Zatanna made up some ice too. Phantom seemed to shrink away from they’re touch, as much as he could when they were everywhere. Black Canary sharply told them to back away.
They all took few steps back, because something was really wrong and they weren’t helping but they had to try and–
Light erupted from somewhere under the blanket and traveled up and down Phantom’s body. Everyone, including Black Canary, lunged towards the boy, because what was that? What was that? Was Phantom dying in front of all of them?
Tired blue eyes blinked at them from under the shock of black hair. It was still undeniably Phantom, he stood in the same place and looked the same, except of eyes and hair color and lack of general air of otherness, but-
“My name is Danny Fenton, I'm a halfa, half ghost half human hybrid created in specific lab accident and no matter what, if my family ever dies you can't let Vlad Masters become my legal guardian. Doesn't matter if it means court case, kidnapping or murder,” he rushed out, words tumbling over each other, like he made this little formula and learned it by heart and wanted to get it out before he forgot any part of it.
Everyone just… froze for a moment.
And then Phantom started hyperventilating, swaying were he stood, so they jumped back to action, dragging him out of machine and onto some chair M’gann moved in. Black Canary ran him through breathing exercise (Phantom was breathing, Phantom was breathing, Phantom was breathing and it was so wrong Wally felt hair standing on the back of his neck). With mutual effort from Robin, Kaldur and Zatanna, there was a bag of ice in ghost’s (halfa’s?) hands, to help ground him. Artemis tapped on his shoulder in tandem with Canary’s instructions, while Conner run off somewhere. There was fifty/fifty chance he went to get something or just needed to get away. M’gann flew away muttering something about making a tea.
Wally felt really lost but also overwhelmed by the need to do something, so he tried singing (or humming, at least) some songs that you’re supposed to play when resuscitating someone. Then it hit him, that it felt too fast, maybe because his main thing was being fast and he was a bit too wrung out to focus on being slower, maybe because song itself was too fast, he didn’t know. He sang something slower anyway.
He could almost see the moment when Phantom, or Danny, he said his name was Danny, calmed down enough to understand where he was.
“Hello Danny”
The boy slumped a bit and refused to make eye contact with anyone.
“Hi Black Canary”
“Are you quite alright?”
“Who is attacking?” Wally blurted out without really thinking. They needed to know and, honestly, he was known to be the guy who never thought before he spoke.
Pha-nny whipped to look at him, visibly startled, which was not a good look considering he wasn't really epitome of calm even before.
“No one I know about, why would they?” he asked, sounding way too clueless about it.
“You used very quick mode of transportation, that is also really triggering to you,” Kaldur explained patiently, “one that you usually only travel through in case of emergencies—”
“And had panic attack as soon as you showed up which had not happened after first three times, meaning you were already pretty shaken before going in,” Robin interrupted.
“We want to know happened to make you use it this time?”
There was another slow blink.
“No one is attacking anymore. I won. I won. I saved them. I won,” he said, descending into panicked mutter. Black Canary motioned them to move away again, because clearly, crowd was not helping him.
“Hey, breathing is constant demand, don't forget about it,” Artemis snapped.
“Who did you win with? Who did you save?”
Phantom just glanced at Black Canary and got back to staring into middle distance, technically present in mind and body but clearly not fully. Wally didn’t want to know what horrors made him crash so hard. There were few things that could make him stop joking, even less that could do this.
“Would you…” Phantom whispered and then his breath hitched. Ghost just stared at all of them for a moment, jumping from person to person like terrified rabbit, wide eyed and terrified. Something glass or ceramic shattered behind them.
“Oh, Danny”
“M’gann what’s going on?”
“We’re alive Danny,” she said with conviction surprisingly strong with how soft she sounded before “We’re alive and well and whatever you saw or think you saw, it was a lie. We’re alive and well”
“But-”
“He didn’t kill us”
Artemis pushed her way back to the ghost and shook him by his shoulders.
“What happened, Phantom?”
Phantom or well, Danny, looked through her like he was once again recalling something, that shouldn't be in his mind to be recalled.
And then he explained future that won’t happen, with sauce explosions, dead families and court of talking eyes.
And then he made them promise. Wally doubted any of them would be able to keep it, and everyone knew that, but they promised either way.

Delilah has been transferred into the bigger and better funded Central City Zoo! Of course Danny's invited to come visit her, he's specifically one of the few people allowed to be in the same physical space as one of the worlds deadliest wild animals, specifically, the most violent and aggressive species of gorilla. All because Delilah, at some point, convinced herself that Danny is her baby and she pretty much refuses to hurt him in any way. She will groom him, and share her food with him, and sits him down to teach him her signs, and play very, very gently with her weak human baby, even though she insists, through sign, that he's very strong. The primatologists always lose their minds when Danny visits, as Delilah doesn't let any other human ape of any kind within five feet of her without a sedative. Depending on her mood, she might even try to keep Danny safe away from other humans. He's her baby, you see.
Unfortunately, the new World's Deadliest Gorilla exhibit attracts the attention of Grodd. The hyper-intelligent meta-gorilla wants to use the worlds deadliest gorilla to get vengeance on the Flash for ruining his world domination plans, and he doesn't really care if some human child gets hurt in the process. In fact, that'll probably hurt the Flash more.

Arkham Asylum Inmate Danny: {First} 2 3 Ideas thrown @ me: 1 2
So a person requested (in messages) me to write a drabble thing based on this prompt. I’m not really into de-aged characters, but I thought of a way to focus it more on Jason’s reaction rather than the childcare part and felt cool with writing that.
So, uh, hope you like this I guess, @phantomrosereader…
Alright. Alright. Alright alright alrigh—
Nope. They’re still there. Fuck. Jason is not at all prepared to be a father. Nor does he want to show back up at the manor right now carrying two children and be forced to explain all this.
Wait, how did the kids even get there? Who was the mother? Why did they never contact him before?
…Did they contact him before? Can he really be certain he’s not missing any more memories?
He forcefully shook his head. No. No focusing on that right now. He’s fine. No spiraling allowed. He has to deal with this first.
Seriously, fuck. How is he a dad?
He… he should look into the mother. At least then he’d have more to go off of when he talks to Alfred. The note did give a name, but it wasn’t nearly enough to go off of on its own. Danny is hardly an uncommon name. Although, it does seem like a guy’s name—maybe Danny is trans? That would narrow the search down, but would that be enough? Even if he could get it down to just a handful of options, he had no way to determine which Danny was his. The kids seemed to have mostly inherited his own appearance…
Wait, that’s it! Genetic tests!
Despite his strained relationship with the other Bats, he still has access to their resources. A test wouldn’t take too long to give results. And also, it might reveal some other info like allergies he’d need to know.
***
Jason frowned at his laptop as his eyes flitted across the details of the error message. Apparently, some parts of the kids’ genes had been completely unreadable to the scanner and thus it couldn’t form a full profile.
Sighing, he clicked the popup closed. He could at least look at what results had come through. Maybe they’d be enough.
That hope dwindled as he scanned the full data, the corruption looking more dire than he expected. Even if the legible parts did succeed at painting a picture of the kids being related, the swaths of gibberish made meaningfully searching for the mother likely hopeless. However, there did seem to be a pattern to the broke areas. Something tickled at the back of his mind. He felt like he’d seen this before. Could that mean the mother was a meta or alien? Those were on a separate database, so that might resolve the issue. But that would require him to go to the manor, and he was still very hesitant to do that.
So instead, he pulled up his own test results to compare. Maybe they’d let him figure something ou—
He froze.
That’s why he recognized the corruption. Ever since his revival, his own genetic results exhibited almost the exact same pattern of issues.
Oh Hell, did the kids inherit the side effects of the Pit from him?
He looked over at the kids, sleeping peacefully in their seats, and prayed that they hadn’t. He didn’t think he’d be able to forgive himself if they had to suffer through the Pit Rage their whole lives just because of him.
He… he had to go to the manor. There was no pushing this off any longer. This situation was far too big for him to deal with on his own. He couldn’t risk leaving his kids to suffer alone.
Hopefully Alfred with his parenting skills and Damian with his knowledge of the Lazarus Pits (and similar experience of being descended from a user of them) would be able to help. Or if that failed, maybe he could guilt trip Bruce into getting the Justice League Dark to help.
dcxdp ficlet pt 1
Phantom wasn't aging. Danny didnt notice at first. Didn't notice for a long time. Phantom didn't exactly use bathrooms or shower or stop to sign autographs, things that would put him in front of an image of himself.
Fenton however, did keep aging. And since he did pass mirriors and get his picture taken, he didn't have reason to suspect anything was amiss. He was aging. He was alive.
He moved out. Went to college. Graduated. Saved some lives. Got recruited by the Justice League. Things were going great.
And then one of Batmans proteges stopped by. Danny wasn't sure which one. He didn't really keep up with that kind of thing. But they started chatting with him. Danny figured that they just didn't talk to a lot of adult heros and wanted someone to show off too. So, Danny did what he did when Jazz or Tucker's kids started and made a show of being impressed by their stories. It seemed to work, but it was weird, they weren't treating him like a hero or weird uncle or something. More like one of their team mates. Asking questions about how he got onto the Justice League proper and not an affiliate team. Lamenting that they were relegated to sidekick work and not allowed to be a hero in their own right. Danny tried to reassure them. Consol them that Batman obviously valued their input. Then the kid started flirting with him. Danny tried to set boundries. Make it clear that he wasn't intrested. Being at least a decade older than them and all.
And then the kid asked him out.
Danny turned the kid down as politely as he could. Which led to a baffling few minutes of being shouted at and accused of...well he wasn't sure what exactly. And then them storming off.
"Are you alright?" Danny blinked at Superman. and when did Superman get there?
"uh. ya. why?" Superman tilted his head and gestured to the door.
"Oh, superhearing. Right. Guess I can't ask you to pretend that you didn't hear that?" Superman continued to stare at him. "Clockwork, I hate it when you do that. You remind me of my sister. She used to look at me like that. When we were kids. before I you know...died and all. Augh. Stop it. I feel like I'm 14 again and getting caught breaking curfew. I'm fine Supes. Really. I just feel bad for the kid and wish I knew what I did to earn the outburst. Like, I get I'm down with the kids and all. But come on. I'm what 10-15 years older than them? and dead? what did they think I was going to say? and why is it my fault? I was just trying to be nice to the kid."
"Son, and I don't mean to be insensitive, but perhaps it has something to do with your appearance?"
"?"
"In that you look. What I mean is that you appear- your face resembles-" The man stuttered, trying to figure out how to say what he knew was a taboo for ghosts.
"Come on Supes, just spit it out already. I rescued your cousin from the Phantom Realm and its unspeakable horrors, I think we're past getting upset over the occasional minor cultural insesitivity."
"When was the last time you saw yourself Phantom?"
"Whaddaya mean?" Danny cocked his head to the side, confused, he looked in mirrors all the time! like last night when he was fixing his hair before meeting up with some coworkers for drinks.
"When was the last time you, Phantom, looked in a mirror?" when was the last time he looked in the mirror AS Phantom, Supes meant. Careful with his identity as always. Those that knew knew his only REAL protection was everyone thinking ghosts could only ever be dead. And knowledge that one could be both was closely gaurded, even amongst the wider superhero community.
"I dunno, probably right after the accident I guess? There were posters and stuff with my face on them for awhile, but they just kept using the same three pics. I don't really stick around for photo ops. My aura started messing with tech like a year? after I died, so it didn't really matter if I did anyway. and with the whole #1 enemy thing, it wouldn't have been safe too." Danny scratched his head, thinking hard about when he had seen seen himself last. He remembered the first time. fresh out of the portal. Before they realized he had died. Before they realized he could still live. The shock of white hair where it should have been stark black. Those green eyes, wide with panic and glowing like someone had poured Diphenyl oxalate into them and mixed it with a fluorescent dye solution.
"Phantom," Superman said firmly. Not so loud that he would panic, but loud enough that he could cut through the sudden spiral he saw his collegue falling into. The reason why you weren't supposed to bring up things related to a ghosts death. Especially ones that died violently. Especially those that died as children.
Danny blinked and took a deep, uneeded, breath. "It's ok. I'm ok. Just. What about my appearence?"
"Phantom..."
"Kal."
He really is. Like he’s the go to guy for hugs. More than a couple times, he’s hugged someone with daddy issues and they’ve broken down crying.
Marvel and GL: *hugging*
GL: *sniffles*
Marvel: *pauses and looks down in confusion* “What was that?”
GL: “Nothing.” *sniffles again*
Marvel: “You sure…?”
GL: “Yeah. Shut up- yeah.”
Marvel: “…Okay…?”
GL: *pulls away after a bit, rubbing his eyes*
Marvel: “Are you crying?” *sounds super concerned*
GL: “No! No I’m not!”
There’s also the fact that Marvel’s a nice eight feet tall so almost everyone comes up to his chest. So, when he gets particularly giddy and happy…
Marvel: *Bouncing around super happy, hugging Batman*
Batman: *one side of his face is smushed into Marvel’s chest. His feet aren’t even touching the ground*
Robin!Tim: *videoing the entire thing*
Batman: *just resigned to his fate*
This video was passed around the other sidekicks, then their mentors and that’s how Bruce ended up getting teased by Flash and GL for the rest of the week.
Then, just for Adam specifically…
Marvel: *with a smile on his face, hugging Adam spine crushingly hard*
Black Adam: *punching, kicking, and overall just flailing to him to get him off*
Marvel: *unfazed up until Adam gets him in the eye and he lets go*
Black Adam: *slightly heavy breathing because he felt his lungs being compressed*
This clip goes viral and Batman’s just thinking of all the times Marvel’s hugged him and how easy it could’ve been for Cap to do him like Bane did. Meanwhile, people are wondering why the Captain was hugging his archenemy so tightly.
Also, just randomly, a YJ member will yell:
M’gann: “Group hug!”
And everyone will just rush to hug Marvel. It’s not even really a group hug too. They’re only really hugging Billy. And the thing is, these kids will brawl each other to get there first. Tim would pull a Robin from Teen Titans Go and swing his staff at one of Wally’s legs. Of course, he wouldn’t break it, he’d just trip him, but still. As for why they brawl for it? Whoever gets there first gets the full extent of Cap’s hug. Everyone else gets it to a lesser extent since they either have to sort of dog pile or hug around the person who got there first.
