(This is a tough one considering I’m not a Yuri fan AT ALL. I really don’t know how to answer this, but I’ll try anyway. It does NOT mean I hate Yuri.)

Who cooks normally?: I hardly ever see Sora cook anything. It all depends on the setting. Layla is a lethal chef, so she would let her maid do all of the housework since she’s a rich chick.

How often do they fight?: Nearly any time dealing with future productions as you can see from season 1. Layla’s a giant perfectionist, and Sora doesn’t really care as long as it makes the audience smiling happy.

What do they do when they’re away from each other?:

Nicknames for each other?: I don’t think they have nicknames for one another other than Sora calling her Layla-san.

Who is more likely to pay for dinner?: Layla since she’s loaded.

Who steals the covers at night?: I could probably see Sora in this situation.

What would they get each other for gifts?: Sora to Layla- anything that makes her smile or something in reminder of the ice queen. Layla to Sora; this is a tough one, but I guess it wouldn’t really matter to Sora on what she receives for gifts.

Who remembers things?: Fairly both of them.

Who cusses more?: I rarely see them cussing at all. Well, if things go wrong, then it would have to be Layla. Sora is too much of a softy for that.

What would they do if the other one was hurt?: Sora, as usual, would try to blame herself for whatever happens to Layla; at the same time, be there for her when needed. Layla, I honestly don’t know; she’s pretty complex due to her rude & cruel personality.

Who kissed who first?: Sora went in for the kill.

Who made the first move?: I want to say Sora; I honestly think that Layla is a bit too conflicting.

Who started the relationship?: Sora; she would always start things without even thinking first.

Heard that Lost Song was a “so bad it’s good” show and checked it out thinking it might be entertaining to watch the first few episodes. Probably would have stopped at episode one because it’s just sort of meh, but it happened to have a lot of tropes that I’m trash for, so I kept watching.

Now, I will admit, there are some very clumsy elements, Like…

The dialogue wasn’t great, but I watched it dubbed for no good reason and dub dialogue tends to be more miss than hit.

I didn’t count the number of times people had conversations at times or places that no sane person would think safe or appropriate, but at least the characters were actually hindered as a result of repeatedly doing this a couple times.

I have no idea how many times exposition or statements of intent were repeated. Especially repeated by people pretending the information hadn’t already been said four times.

Or, in a few cases, acting like they were sharing a secret that wasn’t secret and that they should have known the person they were sharing with already knew.

Even when a few moments were framed really well, the scene would show one more angle or have one more line that made it feel like I was being talked down to.

The character writing also clashed with a lot of the themes, because the anime did try to be subtle about some things, but then the personality types of a lot of it’s main cast were just so damn tactless.

I couldn’t take Leobolt seriously because he was such a gallant knight archetype.

I couldn’t take Finis seriously because of how goddamn dumb she was, and because her niceness when paired with her idiocy made her seem more like a trope then a kind person. And I didn’t buy her post-twist behavior because I couldn’t believe pre-twist Finis had the mental capacity for that.

The rest of the cast was also flat and without a hint of tact in how the archetypes they embodied were portrayed. Finis and Leobolt were just the two that felt the most fake for it.

I didn’t believe any of the romances, which is to be expected when you can’t take the characters involved in those romances seriously.

This also means that I found basically every of Finis’s hollow even before you get into just how terribly her motive holds up in the full context.

I say that as someone who had a hard time getting invested in anything after episode 8.

I didn’t believe in a single antagonist. And I don’t understand how the general got away with as much as he did.

The reveals with Rin and Pony were both sloppy. Maybe Pony’s had some very subtle setup, but it felt like a last minute reveal that I don’t understand the narrative purpose of, while Rin’s needed more thematic buildup to feel necessary.

But holy cow that plot twist.

That was actually really amazingly foreshadowed. It was so well set up that despite Netflix episode summaries and the video that led me to this anime lightly spoiling it, I still didn’t see it coming and yet could clearly see the signs after. Like, I almost want to re-watch the build up to it (but subbed) and just take notes on all the little details that I either didn’t think too hard about or that I did noticed were inconsistent, but wrote off as more clumsy writing.

I mean, even after the twist, the series is pretty meh. But that was just one hell of a well executed plot twist. I almost want to place the anime on a favorites list just for how well it did setting that up.
