sakusa is rich, it comes as no secret, and that’s why you tell yourself this was never bound to work. you’re pretty sure he’s got tons of trust-fund-raised family friends that are after his heart anyway, so his options are surely plenty open.
he’ll do without you.
yet, why he’s incessantly knocking on your door, you can’t seem to figure out, the pounding sound ceaseless as he stays persistent. you’re nearly at your wit's end after thirty minutes, stomping over to open the door and face him.
“kiyoomi,” you growl, glaring daggers his way, but he only shoots sharper ones at you through his eyes, piercing you with the obsidian orbs you know all too well.
it feels like he can read right through you, and you hate yourself for letting him get so close—letting yourself get so attached.
“what’s your issue?” he presses.
right.
sakusa is probably the most stubborn, hardheaded, determined, and pettiest individual you’ve ever met. and it’s not exactly a surprise, you’ve learned he’s the youngest and he’s wealthy, a combination that makes it all add up. but still, you’d never expected someone as stoic as him to be so borderline bratty at times.
“my issue? i’m not the one pounding on a door at eleven pm with no pause. what’s your issue?”
“you’re ignoring me,” he pouts.
and there it is, the look that first made you really realize how smitten you truly are for the man before you, and how far from your reach he really is. you’ll never fit in with sakusa’s crowd, and you’re pretty sure he’ll never understand yours, and the inevitable heartbreak seems more crushing later rather than sooner.
so, with the utmost self-control that you never knew you could demonstrate, you force yourself to pull your eyes away from his face—that’s much too handsome to be fair—and look at your feet.
“kiyoomi, listen,” you begin, and his face falls immediately. and so does your heart, all the way down to the pit of your stomach at the look.
“you don’t like me anymore?” he asks almost like a child. “but…i did…i thought i did all the right things. the movies…it worked in the movies,” he insists.
“what movies?” you ask, face twisting in confusion. he looks down bashfully, his face a light shade of pink as he clears his throat.
you try to force your beating heart still at the sight.
“i…i’m not really good at this,” he admits. “i thought…j-just you know, i did…some…research,” he finally blurts out, voice strained.
if it weren’t for your current predicament, and the fact that you know yourself well, and you know you won’t pull away if you lean in, you would’ve kissed his lips senseless at this very moment.
“romance movies?” you grin slightly. he huffs, turning his face to the side as he shifts on his feet.
“yes, romance movies. we were pursuing a romantic relationship, and their genre is romance. it makes sense,” he mutters. and despite the way your head screams to end this conversation now before it’s too late, before you’re too in deep to let yourself pull away, you chuckle, smiling bigger as the flush of his cheeks only darkens.
“that’s cute,” you mumble to yourself. “really, really cute,” you admit.
“so then what’s the issue?” he raises a brow. and it all comes crashing down again, making your smile drop—and he notices, he notices right away.
sakusa kiyoomi may be a bit sheltered, but he’s quick on his feet, he’s perceptive, and he’s a fast learner. he’s learned all your signs and quirks faster than you could hope to teach him. all on his own.
“look,” you sigh, deciding to rip the bandaid off, no matter how bad the wound might sting. “my background isn’t like yours. i’ve never had to use more than one fork and i’ve never had a bread plate.” he crinkles his brows, staring at you bewildered.
“so? i’m dating you, not your forks.” groaning, you rub your temples, mentally rolling your eyes at how dense he can be.
“kiyoomi. your friends and family probably expect you to bring someone home that grew up like you, don’t you think? someone who’s from a bit more wealth?” he ponders your words for a moment before shrugging, nodding at them as though they were any normal topic.
“yeah, they probably do expect that,” he agrees. you blink.
“well i’m not that, am i?” you ask bitterly, flashing him a pained smile. it finally dawns on sakusa what you mean, his eyes widening a fraction before he quickly steps closer to you.
you should pull away, you really, really should—but you missed his warmth so much. indulging in one more moment with him couldn’t be so bad, you think.
“yeah, you’re not. but they never gave me anything even with all that money. nothing like what you give me anyway,” he shrugs. “i like you. a lot. i think…i think i might even…you know? love you?” he asks the last bit in a quiet voice, almost like he’s asking himself.
and under any other circumstance, you’d raise a brow at a man questioning his love for you, but it’s not like that with sakusa. you know him, and you know he’s trying to navigate what love feels like, he’s trying to find the warmth of its embrace in your arms.
it makes your heart skip a beat.
“what?” you breathe. and despite the palpable fear in his expression, sakusa presses his forehead to yours, staring at you with a hard determination you’ve grown to admire.
the same one he sports during games, and practice, and watching recaps to find his mistakes. he gives you that same passion, if not more.
“i think…no. no, i do. i love you,” he whispers. and sakusa kiyoomi is a star athlete, he’s got a car that’s worth more than your entire life savings at the moment being, he’s got trust funds waiting for him, and he’s got a snobby rich family back at home, but he’s got barely anything if not nothing at all without you.
the words knock the air out of your lungs and steal your breath.
“is this you trying to be like those movies you watched?” you murmur.
“i think we could be better. probably less cheesy,” he whispers back through a wet laugh. “but i kind of need a love interest for that.” the watery chuckle you let out makes his heart unclench, the relief rolling over him in waves.
he knows it’s a good sign. he knows everything about you. and even if you’re scared, you can’t help but trust him blindly.
“okay, omi. let’s be better than your stupid romance movies,” you grin. “i love you too.”
and for a second, you’re glad he’s not starring in a film, you don’t think you ever want to share the stupidly handsome smile he gives you with anyone else to see.
i am well aware he is in japan and uses chopstick and the forks part was a little inaccurate — this is a fictional drabble though, so if you comment on it i’ll block. you just enjoy the writing bro sobsobsob
because bakugou katsuki is a jerk but he's also unfortunately your soulmate.
a/n: wooooooohhhhh i love soulmate aus so much omg
pairing: bakugou katsuki x f!reader
You’ve known he was your soulmate from the first day at U.A.
When he’d bumped into you, steaming with anger in that way he regularly was and had spat at you; “move it, extra, or i’ll make you” – and you’d known then because those were the words written across you hip since you’d turn five and it had manifested with your quirk.
Because that was how the world was. Nowadays, it was odd to find someone without a quirk and even harder to find someone without a soulmate and you’d grown up your whole life having those awful words written on your skin. Had grown up knowing that for whatever reason, the soulmate you’d been given didn’t say warm, intimate words to you or even just simply generic words. Your friends had always had such nice sentences from their soulmates, with pretty words or a happy greeting.
And in yours you’d been called an extra.
Whatever the hell that meant.
You’ve never been excited to meet your soulmate. Not once. Not when you were five, or eight or twelve or when you started noticing people in a way you hadn’t before, more romantically. Not when you started maturing and growing up. Those words glared at you every time you stared at them and you didn’t want a single thing to do with your soulmate.
Not ever.
That is only doubled when you realize who your soulmate is. Maybe there was always a small part of you that hoped the words were misunderstood; you’d make scenarios up in your head about how those words could be teasing or even just a misunderstanding.
When they’re spat at you by an intimidating blonde man that looks like there’s actual steam pouring from his ears, with piercing red eyes that cut into you like you’d done some horrible thing to deserve his anger… you understand then that they weren’t teasing and they aren’t a misunderstanding. They’re cruel and they’re mean and dismissive and hurtful and every horrible thing piled together by a man who is even worse beyond just his first words to you.
So you make it your goal that he never finds out you’re his soulmate in return.
You avoid him. Desperately. You’re barely a person in his own head so it isn’t all that hard to do. Even as the rest of the class grows closer and bonds, it seems Bakugou is just as content to ignore everyone else as you are to be ignored by him. Sure, some worm their way into his heart, like Kirishima or Midoriya and Shoto, but nobody else really seemed to matter. At least, you didn’t. You had the same friends, you were in the same class, and eventually, you ended up sleeping in the same building.
You saw him everyday. You ate in the same kitchen and relaxed in the same living room. You trained in the same gym and overall, were consistently near each other. But you didn’t speak to him and he’d never tried to speak to you after that first day. Months pass and it continues on this way and you’re sure he doesn’t even know what your name is.
Or that you really even exist.
And you’re happy with that.
Content.
Because while the idea of a soulmate was romantic and heartwarming and something you dreamed about, him being your soulmate sounds horrible.
And it was best he just never even knew.
He was so focused on becoming number one, you’re not sure he even cares about finding his.
Which is fine. Works better for you in the end.

“Y/L/N and Bakugou. You two are teamed up for combat practice today.”
You freeze at Aizawa-sensei’s words, body tensing as your eyes instantly shoot towards Bakugou. He’s already looking at you, brows furrowed and eyes narrowed as he lets his eyes drag across you; it’s clear he’s assessing you. Maybe trying to remember your name or if he’s ever seen you before.
It wouldn’t surprise you if he was.
Somehow, in all your months of being in the same class as Bakugou, you’ve never once been partnered up with him for anything. You think once you may have been put in a group with him, but that was with several others so it'd been easy enough to avoid him.
One on one though? That was going to be harder.
Way harder.
“Good luck,” Mina calls from beside you, squeezing your shoulder before she moves to meet up with her partner; it looks like she’d gotten Jirou. Lucky.
Watching everyone else disperse tells you that you can’t just stand there like an idiot anymore. You take a deep breath, ignoring the nerves that course through you as you make your way over to Bakugou. As you make contact with him again, you realize he’s not moving; obviously he expects you to come to him.
Jerk.
When you reach him, the two of you just stare at each other and since you’re certainly not going to speak first, there’s a moment of awkward silence before Bakugou grunts; “ready?”
You nod and he isn’t confused by your silence so the two of you walk off to an open area in the gym. He stands across from you, gives you a look and then is racing towards you. You’re not sure why Aizawa-sensei teams you up with Bakugou because your quirks definitely don’t mesh well together and it’s clear Bakugou is stronger, but you’re able to hold up well enough on your own.
You even manage to land a hit on Bakugou once that clearly surprises him and you take it as a win.
And a little payback for being such an ass.
Then, when the class is over and you’ve promptly been knocked on your ass in return, you’re surprised to see a hand stretched out in front of you, invitingly. You blink, eyes drifting upwards only to meet Bakugou’s as he stares down at you. He’s not smiling and he doesn’t look all that friendly, but he nods his head in recognition.
“Good job.”
The words are such a shock your brain short circuits for a minute. Not only are the words the nicest thing you’ve ever heard Bakugou say (which is saying a lot) but his voice wasn’t gruff or aggressive like it normally is–it was… soft, almost? Maybe not soft but… normal. Just… calm.
Your heart is lurching at the sound before you even realize and then you’re pushing yourself up to your feet, basically smacking his hand out of the way and running out of the room without another word.
-
After that, Bakugou doesn’t seem to leave you alone.
He’s everywhere.
And not everywhere in the way he had been before. He’s not there in passing or just across the room from you, he’s asking to train with you or deliberately making sure he’s the only one left for you to partner with. He seems to always be in the kitchen when you want to eat or in the living room when you want to vedge after a long day.
He’s constantly there.
Not to mention, gone are his glares or looks of indifference. He’s always looking at you, making sure you know he knows you’re there; even if the two of you are in class or with a group of classmates. He makes note of acknowledging you. The others seem to notice too because the girls start asking what you did to get Bakugou’s attention and you promptly tell them you have no idea.
Of course, they don’t know Bakugou’s your soulmate so they don’t really get the scope of your panic. And it’s not that you don’t trust them, especially after all you’d been through as a class, but more because the less that knew, the less likely Bakugou was to know.
But now? Now it was getting hard to avoid him and it was even harder not to say something without it looking obvious why you weren’t.
You were promptly fucked.
You are able to stall it for all of two weeks before you’re cornered by Bakugou.
“Do you think I’m stupid?”
Your wide eyes fall on him, not only shocked by his presence but panicked by his words because there were few things a sentence like that could mean.
A quick glance around tells you there’s no way to get past him without Bakugou being able to block him and since it had already been made clear that he was in fact stronger than you, you knew there was no escape. Everyone else was gone since you’d snuck out of training to grab a bite to eat and it seemed like Bakugou had snuck out the same to follow you.
So yeah, you were screwed.
Bakugou lets out a huff at your silence and he takes another step towards you, further crowding you and you swallow thickly when he steps into your personal space. You move to walk back but then your back is pressing against the wall of the kitchen and Bakugou is completely shrouding you, it's hard to look anywhere but at him.
“Do you think I don’t know why you won’t speak to me?”
Inhaling sharply, you turn your head to the right, determined to avoid his steely red eyes that feel like they’re piercing into your very soul. You focus on the handle to the cupboard to your right and try to ignore the growl he lets out in response.
He takes another step forward and suddenly he’s inches apart, close enough you can feel his breath drift across your skin, warm to the touch.
“It wasn’t hard to figure out after you ran from me that day when we were partnered up,” Bakugou continues. “Especially when I started to realize you’ve never talked to me. And then? Avoiding me for the last two weeks? It’s not hard to figure out.”
You halt, freezing, waiting for the words—
“You’re my soulmate.”
You refuse to look at him. You won’t look at him.
Maybe if you just ignore him, he’ll go away. He’ll just… leave. He doesn’t like being ignored, that much you’ve gathered and so if you just refuse to–
Suddenly his hands are on your arms and his chest is against yours and he’s way too close. “Hey,” he huffs, “look at me.”
You don’t listen. Even as you tense beneath his grip, you refuse to do anything, to give him any sort of reaction. If you give him a reaction, he’ll get what he wants. And you’re not thinking straight. You need to just wait, wait until he’s bored and then you can think—figure this out because surely–
“Y/L/N,” he calls and you’re surprised he even knows your name, “look at me. Hey. I’m right, aren’t I? Why else wouldn't you fucking looking at me.” You continue to remain silent and Bakugou lets out a low growl. “Fucks sake. I’m not leaving until you say something so you might as well—”
“—I’m not saying anything to you because you’re a jerk!”
Well, that certainly could’ve gone better.
The words leave your lips before you even realize you’ve said them. The second you’re done, your chest is heaving and you finally turn your head, eyes snapping to Bakugou’s, fearing his reaction at your rather blunt and rude words.
But, a second later, instead of being angry like you’d expected, Bakugou starts… laughing.
You’re not sure you’ve ever seen the boy laugh, certainly not that genuinely. His lips are parted and his eyes have squeezed shut and the laugh that leaves his lips is pure and genuine and loud and it’s so unlike anything you’ve ever heard from him you’re stunned stupid as you stare back at him with your lips left parted, jaw slacked.
As his laughter fades, Bakugou meets your gaze.
“I’ve been waiting to hear those words for years,” he starts, still smiling–actually smiling this time. Not a smirk. But an affectionate grin. “Wasn’t sure what I did to deserve those words, but it seems fitting.”
Blinking, once, twice, you sputter, snapped out of your stupor. “I–I… You jerk!”
“I think we’ve established that already, babe.”
You barely even notice the nickname. If it wasn’t for the way your heart races at the sound, you’re sure your stupefied mind wouldn’t have caught it because seriously, what the hell?
“You… this is exactly why I didn’t want to say anything!” You cry out, not sure if you’re defending yourself for him or more for yourself. Why are you even defending yourself? And what against? “You’re insufferable. And rude. And cocky. And a jerk.”
Bakugou just snorts. “What are your words?” He asks, smile fading slightly as his expression turns more serious; almost solemn. Regretful. “Must’ve been bad if you had to avoid me.”
You’re surprised by the guilt in his tone, but it gives you the confidence to answer. “‘Move it, extra, or I’ll make you’,” you mumble, fiddling with your hands. “You said it the first day we started here at U.A.”
“Shit,” Bakugou curses, running a hand through his hair. “So you’ve been avoiding me for months?”
Your eyes flick to his before lowering and that gives him his answer.
He shifts. “L-Listen… uh, sorry about… about cornering you like this.”
Blinking, you tilt your head up. You’re shocked to see a red tinge to his cheeks.
“I just needed to know,” he finishes explaining. “And I’m sorry about that shit I said to you. My soulmate doesn’t deserve that crap but I can’t take it back, so I’ll just make sure I make up for it.”
You’re positive now that you’re hallucinating this whole thing.
“What?”
He blinks down at you at your screech before smirking.
“Well, I mean, as we get to know each other,” he says, like it’s obvious. “I’m shit with words but I’ll try for you. I'm good with showing though,” and he looks a little too pleased with himself.
But you can barely focus on the very blatant meaning of his words, you're still trying to catch up. “You…” and you hesitate, not sure if you’re hearing this correctly. “You want to get to know me?”
And he looks at you like you’re dumb.
“Duh,” he shrugs, “you’re my soulmate.”
“What about being number one?”
“What about it?” he argues, shaking his head. “That’ll still happen. You think I can’t do that while also dating you?”
Your eyes widen; “dating?”
“Yeah,” he says, again like you’re dumb. He takes a step towards you, once again closing the gap between you and his hands falling on your waist, pulling a gasp from your lips at the touch that causes him to smirk, as if proud. “You’re my soulmate. Of course we’re going to date.”
“I barely know you!”
“That’s why we’ll get to know each other.”
You just stare up at him.
“You really are insufferable,” is what you manage to say in the end, exasperated. Your shoulders fall and your body sags but you don’t pull away from his touch and even if you’re not fully aware of it, you’re pretty sure you end up leaning into him.
“You’ll learn to love it,” he shrugs, still grinning. “Now, let’s go back to training. We need to work on your defense.”
Blinking, you turn to him as he shifts the both of you, guiding you forwards. “Hey!”
“What,” he shrugs down at you. “It’s true. You were barely able to block my hits when we fought.”
You can’t find the words to say so you simply let him lead you along, trying to ignore the way his hands make your skin tingle and your heart race. Or, really, the way that despite everything, you really don’t mind.
If anything, you actually like it.
Fuck—he really is a jerk.
6:32am ☆ miya atsumu
tags: fem! reader, pet names (princess, girlfriend, girl)
you've never been provoked to hit your boyfriend, but with atsumu dragging you out of bed too early, only to prop you up onto the bathroom counter so you can watch him get ready, this might be a first for you. "tsumu, i wanna go to bed." you repulsively dragged out. your darkened eye bags were evidence of how tired you truly were but atsumu didn't seem to care. and he only hummed at your current drowsy state.
"and i want bonding time with my girlfriend, is that a problem?" you had to scoff at his deceiving explanation. he, who begged to the point where he might've even gotten on his knees for you to spend the night. you would've cooed at him if that was the real reason he woke you up, anytime spent with him is amazing. however, you've spent the last two days under his roof, in his house eating, drinking, napping, cooking, chilling, and sleeping together. not one moment was spent without atsumu so you knew this was not solely him wanting to be with you. but rather him wanting you to watch him get ready. to see how perfect and attractive your boyfriend truly was at any point of the day.
you rolled your eyes and groaned at the half naked man in front of you. with his gray worn out sweatpants hanging loosely on his hips while a towel draped over his shoulder, atsumu threw you a quick smirk before turning away. you really hated to admit it, you'd rather go on his 5am jog than admit it to his face that he was actually really attractive right now. with his stupid messy damp blonde hair and his stupid pretty brown eyes that lit up everytime he looked at you, and his stupid stupid stupid attractive voice that sounded like heavens gold in the morning. you hated how even after turning away from you, his bare back was stupidly pretty, his muscles that flexed ever so slightly with how he walks and the way his hands flowed loosely along side his hips. "ya comin' or not?" he asked, stopping to lean against the door frame. "yeah, whatever." you rolled your eyes, annoyed at his jaw dropping sight but you can't complain. "i know im pretty but pick yer jaw off the floor." atsumu quickly snickered before running away. his slightly damp body hitting the bed in laughter. shortly after, you landed on top of him, hands tickling his sides, before stopping to place a kiss to his soft lips.
"you're lucky i love you." you huffed before connecting with atsumu's lips again. there's a distinct taste of his toothpaste on your lips but you didn't mind, not when his hands held you tight in his arms while your lips slowly danced together. his blonde hair was still messy, his face was soft from his nicely put together skincare, the unwelcomed sunlight grazing his skin, making him glow even more, and his still not yet fully clothed body though he needs to leave in five minutes, but even despite his current state, he truly was the prettiest at this moment. atsumu is pretty. prettier than all flowers that bloom in the spring, his eyes shining more than the sun when he looks at you, but what you think is the prettiest of them all, is his charming smile. the lazy smile that sits on atsumu's face after you pull away from his lips. "and i love you too, my pretty girl."
but most importantly, atsumu thinks if there's one person who's prettier than him, is you.

it’s quiet in the car, and suna drives tensely, side eyeing you as you sit with your arms crossed. it’s evident you don’t want to be in the car with him, but even like this, he’s glad he gets to spend a little extra time with you alone.
“so…” he starts, and immediately, you cut him off, shutting him down firmly.
“no.”
suna purses his lips and sighs, eyes on the road as he continues to drive to your home, and you sit there fuming. you’ve been tricked. fooled. taken advantage of by your own friend as she goes home with some guy she meets. if she can’t drive you home from the party, it just has to be suna, and you wonder why the world is punishing you so cruelly this way.
“you know, i’m a pretty cool guy,” suna insists, turning to you with a raised brow when the car stops at a red light. “you should consider being a little nicer—”
“you’re lame and annoying,” you counter, and he scowls, scoffing that you have it in you to be so bold with him in his car as he drives you home.
“am not,” he bickers back. and the light is green now, but neither of you notice as you stare each other down.
you hate suna rintaro. you hate him so fiercely, you don’t think you’ll ever feel this passionately about anything else in your life. suna annoys you in every way possible. he acts like he doesn’t care, he slacks off in everything he does, he always rolls his eyes like he knows better, and he even stands around like he owns the place. and you hate him.
you also hate that he stood you up on a date he asked you on himself, but that’s besides the point.
“are too,” you huff childishly.
“look, if this is about that date a few months ago, i told you i mixed up the dates and—”
“it’s about how little you care about things,” you interrupt, and there’s a slight quiver in your voice as you speak. it makes suna’s heart drop, and he feels his stomach twist painfully.
suna rintaro has been in love with you since grade school. he thinks it’s a miracle you ever said yes to him in the first place, and if there’s one thing in his life, one thing at all that he’d do differently, it’s not mixing up the day of your date. he thinks maybe by now you could’ve been a happy little couple with stupidly annoying instagram pictures and obnoxiously ridiculous voicemails and whatever else couples do together. but suna always messes things up, and he wishes he wasn’t always doing things wrong no matter how hard he tries.
his face drops, and he reaches out, opening his mouth to speak.
“look—”
and before he can continue, there’s a loud honking sound behind you that makes you both flinch, someone beeping their horn for him to go on the green light he’s been sitting on for the last two minutes.
suna curses under his breath, pressing the gas pedal and driving off, frowning when you angle your body away from him to face the window.
“you will never change,” you mutter, “i realized that a long time ago.” and it’s cruel really, you’ve spent all this time convincing yourself you’re over suna, but all that’s led you to is falling for him even deeper—and maybe that makes the hatred fester up even more.
“hey, that’s not fair,” he grumbles. “i’m a responsible adult, it was one slip up.”
“did you make your bed this morning?”
“okay, that’s not relevant to adulthood—”
“is your sink empty of dirty dishes?”
“i didn’t get a chance yet to wash—”
“when was the last time you checked your mailbox?”
“who even reads mail these days—”
“face it suna,” you scoff. “you’re hopeless.” and suddenly, the car pulls over, and you turn to him with furrowed brows as he parks the car and faces you, determination settling in his eyes as he throws a glare at your direction.
“well, why are you still so upset over a missed date if you’re not obsessed with me?” he challenges, making you stare at him in disbelief as your mouth hangs open. and now you’re furious—how dare he insinuate something so ridiculous (even though it’s technically kind of true), and how dare he belittle your feelings (even though he technically didn’t, but his tone certainly seemed like it).
“what?” you hiss, and he crosses his arms, raising a brow.
“you heard me,” he snaps back, and you should honestly strangle him—and in all realness, if you killed him right here in the middle of the street and left, no one would know it was you, but he smirks, and you lose your sanity just a little more at his hand. “you’re so obsessed with me,” he grins.
“no i am not,” you flare your nostrils, and he snickers, poking your cheek with a cocky smile on his face. you hate how attractive it is.
“i’m obsessed with you too,” he shrugs, as though it’s completely normal. “i’m not quitting until you finally agree on a redo of our date,” he adds, and you scoff.
“no.”
“too bad. not moving this car until you do,” he shrugs.
“suna rintaro,” you say firmly, and he has the audacity to recline his seat back and throw his arms behind his head as he lays down.
“that’s my name,” he says casually.
and this is precisely why you can’t stand him. he never takes anything seriously, and he never puts in an effort to try, and he never cares. you don’t think he ever will.
“i want to go home—”
“you could,” he starts, “if you agree on a redo date.”
“no,” you huff.
“now you’re just being stubborn,” he scoffs, pouting lightly. you resist the urge to poke his bottom lip with your finger. “what’s the worst that could happen?”
“you stand me up again,” you deadpan, and suna rolls his eyes.
“i’m sorry, okay? it really was an accident, and i didn’t mean it. i really did get the dates confused,” he argues, and there’s a small part of you that tells yourself maybe you’re overreacting. people make mistakes, and you’re certainly not perfect, but this is suna rintaro.
he’s got his little set of fans, he’s got his promising career, and he’s got no reason to be interested in you. you shouldn’t think this way, but maybe he forgot because you really are just that forgettable.
“you wouldn’t have forgotten if you actually cared,” you pout, and he clicks his teeth, reaching over and grabbing your face, pulling your closer. you can feel his breath fan over your lips as he speaks, smelling the minty scent of his gum.
“if i didn’t care, why would i be pining over someone as stubborn as you,” he grunts. “you are really something else,” he mutters, and you give him a dirty look, features scrunching into an offended expression.
“this is not my fault—”
“well, if you’d just listened for a moment—”
“i don’t owe you to listen—”
“you are so difficult—”
“don’t talk to me—” and you’re cut off by a kiss, and you’d be stunned by the nerve of the man sitting before you if you weren’t so distracted by the heat of his lips and the way his thumb makes your skin light up as he rubs your cheek softly. you should pull away, but you only mold your lips against his and lean in closer, deepening the kiss like your life depends on it.
“knew you were obsessed with me,” he snickers as you both pull away, pouting when you shove at his shoulder harshly.
“you can’t just kiss people out of nowhere, asshole,” you hiss, lips slightly swollen and cheeks feeling hot as you look away. he smirks, pinching your cheek, and you smack his hand away.
“well, we’re both here right now,” he shrugs, “and we already kissed, so we might as well redo the date now.” you try to ignore the way your heart leaps in your chest at the idea.
“fine,” you cave. “but if it sucks, you gotta quit bothering me,” you warn, and a large, giddy little grin spreads across his face, and you almost wish he’d kiss you again as you drink in the sight.
“oh, trust me,” he winks, “it definitely won’t suck.”
What About Him?
In which they get jealous of a game character
Ft. Childe, Diluc, Xiao, Ayato, Scaramouche
Childe:
"What does he have that I don't? I'm richer and cuter than him."
Gets very sulky and pouty
Can and will drape himself over you when he sees that character show up on your screen
He backs off for a bit when you shop him away, but he doesn't sulk any less If the game has audio he's listening very intently for more information on the character
Mocks the character every now and then, sometimes for the stupidest things, but you can tell he's just jealous
He'll be content if you give him some cuddles after, assuming you ignore said character
Diluc:
Not very confrontational about it
Yes, he's jealous, but you seem so happy, surely he can put up with it for a while
....right?
Alright that's long enough.
He brings you your favourite snack and asks if you'd like to read with him, or perhaps let him play the piano for you
That song you've been begging him to play the past week? He just so happens to want to play it right then
Anything if it means taking your attention back from whatever character stole you from him
Xiao:
As much as he trusts and adores you, he hates how it makes him feel
Of course he trusted you, he shouldn't feel threatened by this,,,patch of pixels, and yet he does
He doesn't really do much since you seem so happy
He'll just lean on your shoulder, watching you play
He'll listen to your commentary if you have any
Please give him headpats after, he needs it
Ayato:
You've got some cheek to ignore him in favour of a game character
"Darling, haven't you a moment to spare for your boyfriend?"
Invites you to sit on his lap as you play
You'll realise it was a mistake soon enough when you find out the paperwork on the desk was already complete and merely a ruse
Rests his chin in the crook of your neck, humming in thought as you play
He tickles you with light kisses whenever that character is on screen so you can't possible focus on them
If it was a competition for your attention, he was winning
Scaramouche:
Good luck to whatever device you're using to play
The first time it happens, he scowls about it but goes about his day
But after that? You'll start to find it missing
Suddenly, your phone is nowhere to be seen, or your pc has lost its keyboard
He's being petty and he knows
Yet everything is somehow exactly where you need them again once you have work to complete?
And don't even think about trying to get back to the game right after doing your work
He'll find a way to distract you from it crafty lil shit
It's a game of 3D chess with him at this point

GN!Reader ft. Kuroo, Bokuto, and Oikawa.
Kuroo
He’s a covert competitor. You’re always in some sort of a silent competition about petty things, and you don’t even need to say a word to initiate it. Just a competitive stare and he would return your gaze with the same mischief.
It’s telepathy at this point.
It ranges from a simple staring competition, who-gives-the-most-kisses to intellectual debates. He always makes sure he wins or makes you surrender before he does, just so he could tease you afterward. It never gets too serious, though—he makes a joke out of it.
Plus, you pouting and glaring at him afterwards? Cute. Adorable. Literally the only reason why he does it and will do it over and over again.
But really, it has been three hours since you’ve woke up and you’ve not kissed him????
Blasphemy.
And you dare to sit in front of him, eating your breakfast cluelessly?
Really?
You haven’t said a word about it, either. But fine! He’ll take you on, alright.
But five more minutes passed…
and hello? Is he a brick wall or something?
“You’re frustrating me, I swear.”
You furrow your brows. What the hell is he on this early?
“Don’t act like you’re innocent. I know what you’re doing.” He says, crossing his arms as he leans back into his chair, dramatically pouting like a sulking kid.
You roll your eyes, telling him that you’ve got work to do, then leave the table.
“No, wait, wait. Hey, wait! Are you really going to treat me like this? I’m hurt, kitten.”
“What do you mean by ‘what is it, Tetsu’? You’ve been playing this no-kissing game and you’re killing me!”
OH.
Ooooooh.
So he thought you were doing it on purpose?
Of course.
And he calls you childish?
“So you’re finally admitting it huh, Tetsu? That you can’t live without my kisses? You’re so needy—”
He kisses you to shut you up.
“No, don’t try to turn my tactics on me. You’ve been doing this to get my attention, right? Well, you win this time. Just this time, though.”
Bokuto
Oh no.
He’s dramatic about it. Very petty. Acts like he’s a neglected child that’s thrown away at the dumpster.
“Do you not love me anymore?”
What? Huh? Where did that come from?
“How could you ignore your very cool boyfriend? That’s sitting on your bed? ALONE, by the way.”
He sulks. Even makes the dramatic ‘hmph’ noises every one second.
Huffs very loudly.
“Am I that easy to forget?”
You’re really just trying to do your homework.
“Come ooooooon. I can teach you later. I’m smart. I’m intelligent. I can do better than your professor. I’ll study just for you, promise.”
A+ for effort. Very convincing.
Tired of waiting, he stands behind your chair and puts his chin on your shoulder.
“Hey. Hey. He—”
He won’t stop whispering into your ears, so you glare at him.
Fatal move.
Looks like a kicked puppy after you did that. You swear you saw his imaginary tail stop wagging or something. He gazes at you like you just dumped him,
“I just wanted a kiss. You’re so mean to me.”
Sulks again.
You sigh, finally kissing him on his cheek.
But did you really think that was enough?
No wayyyyyyy
It’s Bokuto we’re talking about.
Tackles you onto your bed and starts kissing your lips.
“I’m much more interesting than those papers, right?”
You better say yes
Or don’t, if you like seeing him sulk.
Oikawa
Oh no. (2)
“You forgot something.”
He is sitting in the driver’s seat, arms behind your chair as he leans into you, brows raised in anticipation.
“What did I forget? Did I leave anything at your house?”
Come on. You’ve just spent hours at his house, cuddling, and you didn’t notice?
“You know, I’ve got girls lining up just to say hello to me, and you—the only person I want attention from—treats me like this?”
He pouts.
Dramatically, with his eyes closed and head turned away and all that thing.
You thought Kuroo and Bokuto were too much? Well, i’ve got news
Oikawa’s got both their behaviors mixed in one.
He starts huffing dejectedly
And you’re confused. What is it?
You stare at him. He stares back, knowing that you’re completely clueless.
“You know what? Fine.”
He kisses you first, on your right cheek
And again, now on the temple.
Again, now on the left cheek—
“I can’t believe you forgot about it,”
He’s still pouting. Now his arms are crossed.
“Well?” He raises his brows, “What are you waiting for?”
You chuckle. Finally getting what he means, you peck him on the lips.
Okay?
He shakes his head, dissatisfied,
“No, not enough. You’ve got to make it up for the past hours too, you know? It’s written in MY rules. That’s it. Me and you? Yeah, we’re going back to my house. You owe me kisses, okay?”
A/N: Requests are temporarily open (for this exact scenario). Just send me an ask with three characters you’d like to see being neglected and begging for your attention. I’ll be waiting <3
— 1 missed call from [Name] —
Realistically, he knows he shouldn’t call you back. Ignore the missed call, head back to bed, and forgot you forever. Forget the romance you once shared and move on. Forgot all the words of love that ever left his lips. You are not his and he is not yours.
But he can’t. He can’t possibly ignore you when you’re calling him at 2AM, yearning for him in whatever way you do.
So he calls. Like the fool that he is, he calls his ex-girlfriend of one year back.
“Hello?”
“Tsukishima…” you trail, and your voice is distant. So far, so small, so fearful. He hears your hesitance from one word only.
He wishes you could call him your Kei again.
“Why did you call me?” Tsukishima responds with hostility, for that is all he knows. When he lost you, his ways changed and his heart turned to stone. It seems that anger is all he knows these days, a hard tongue made of venom and stone.
“I-I wanted to talk to you.”
You stutter. You stutter and Tsukishima knows that you’re drunk. You have a few habits whenever you’re intoxicated, and a stutter is always accompanied with the alcohol.
“You’re drunk,” is all he says.
“I know.”
“Talk to me when you’re sober,” he goes to cut the call, but a quick wait! is enough to halt his movements.
“God, I don’t even know why I even called you,” you whisper, as if speaking to yourself.
He sighs, “where are you?”
“Um, I’m not sure.”
“You went out not knowing where you’re going?” He asks, and it’s that condescending tone you hate. The one that pushed your relationship to its limit.
“It’s not like I wanted to be here,” you whisper yet again, a measly attempt at defending yourself.
Another sigh, another sign of disappointment, and Tsukishima finally speaks up.
“Go to the Maps app.” You mumble a small okay, and do as he tells you. “Now zoom in on your location and send it to me.”
“Why?”
“Just do it.”
You listen to him and soon after Tsukishima gets a notification. He doesn’t bid you goodbye, simply cuts the call and gets up from his bed. He heads for his closet, grabbing two jackets, and heads out the door.
He’ll see you for the first time in a year.
-
And see you he does.
You’re sat on the curb of the road, your knees pushed against your chest and your head resting on your knees. It seems as if you’re asleep, your eyes closed and body still.
He kneels beside you, whispering your name loud enough to wake you up.
“Huh?” You groan, turning your head to look at the man you can’t seem to let go. “Kei?”
There it is. It’s always sounded so sweet on your tongue, so sultry and intimate. It’s his given name, the one he grows to love each time you say it.
It’s bittersweet hearing it from you.
“Why are you just sleeping in the middle of the road? What if some pervert stopped by?”
“But nobody did,” you say, logic leaving you in your drunken state. You move closer to him, seeking his warmth.
You’ve always loved his touch. When you once called him yours, his body was always somehow attached to yours. Your skin on his, his heart in your palm.
He sighs, “get in the car, [Name].”
He pulls you up from your position, easily holding you as gently as he can.
“You never used to call me by my name,” you stop and lean into his shoulder. “I was always your baby.”
Tsukishima knows it’s the alcohol talking. That you’d never say this sober, and that there’s a possibility that you don’t mean any of those words. But his heart still hurts. It hurts so much that he feels as if he has lost himself. Lost all the progress he made to just get over you.
(But perhaps he never really stopped loving you, if he was so willing to pick up your call.)
He lays you on the passenger seat, buckling your seatbelt for you. He drapes the extra jacket over your shoulders, and you remember it to be one of your favourites. You stare at him the whole time—eyes on his—but he refuses to look back. Not when he knows how easily his resolve could crumble with you around.
The car starts soon after, and you’re already asleep. Your head lays peacefully on the mirror, and Tsukishima wishes he could stay like this forever. In a world where he is yours and you are his.
-
There are not many things that Tsukishima regrets.
He prefers to live in the present and let the past be the past. What has happened is unchanging, so why worry? Why worry about what he should’ve done, when all he has is the now?
There are not many things that Tsukishima regrets. But he will always regret leaving you.
He knows that now, as he is in your bedroom, trying to find a way to change you out of your clothes and into your sleepwear.
You’ve always been a heavy sleeper, unmoving in the midst of all noise. That trait carries on to now, as he struggles to get your top off your body.
You squirm as he touches you. “Kei,” you whisper. “Why’d you pick me up?”
“You called me.”
“But you picked up,” you slur, “you could’ve ignored me. You were good at that when we were together.”
He winces. He knows you don’t mean it. You’ve always been far too kind to respond with such malice, especially towards him. Even when your relationship was walking on a tightrope, you never once yelled at him.
“Why were you so mean, Tsukishima?” It’s a rhetorical question, he knows it, but his heart burns the more you speak.
“I loved you so much, but you didn’t love me at all.”
“Don’t,” he immediately interrupts, “don’t say I never loved you.”
“You never showed me,” your voice is small, and he knows you’re about to cry. (Even after all these months, your habits remain in his mind.)
“I love you. So much more than you’ll ever understand,” he speaks with so much passion, that he forgets his confession.
He loves you. His heart will always belong to you.
“I love you too,” you cry, and a single teardrop grazes your cheek.
“You never deserved me.”
“I get to decide that,” you grab his delicate face with your rough hands. He always fit so perfectly in your palms. “I get to decide who is good for me.”
He pauses, resting in your hands and cherishing every moment he has with you. And it’s in your calloused palms where Tsukishima realises what he misses. He misses your presence, your love, you. Every habit that made him love you so deeply, he misses.
He will be yours again, he decides, as you hold him close. Somehow, someway, he will win you back.
hold me close
summary: atsumu reveals his insecurities to you after a bad day
warnings: hurt/comfort, atsumu having self loathing thoughts about himself but you're there to make him feel better
a/n: ngl idk how to really feel about this, not sure if i like it or not but eh i got something written and i wanted to write about comforting atsumu. also sorry for the terrible ending i just kept writing but the ending stumped me skksksk
~~~
Atsumu had a bad day.
You could tell when you heard the door to your shared apartment open, but there was no 'baby I'm home!' It was a signal for stormy weather. It always felt as though the sun came with him, warm and bright, lighting up the entire apartment with his presence. But now, the brightness was covered by clouds. Gloomy clouds. Your ears pick up on his heavy steps, thundering through the floorboards.
As the footsteps approach the bedroom, you close your laptop and put it off to the side. Did something happen at practice? Did he have a fight with Osamu? There were many possibilities, but you wouldn't know for sure which one was the correct one unless Atsumu told you himself.
The door opens to reveal Atsumu who was hunched over, his eyes screaming with exhaustion. He looks worse than you expected. For as tall and built as your boyfriend was, he was a small flame now. Flickering, barely holding on, threatening to be extinguished.
Wordlessly, you open your arms wide in invitation. The mattress creaks under his weight as he crawls in between your legs, slumping against your chest and wrapping his arms around your waist. He buries his face into your chest, hiding from you, hiding from the world. One arm lays across his back while your other hand cups the back of his head.
"Welcome home, Tsumu," you softly say. There was no response.
Not hearing Atsumu talk was strange. He always had something to say, either about his teammates or his brother or something he saw on social media. His silence was unnerving to say the least, but as much as you wanted to ask him what's wrong, you keep your mouth shut. You feel it would be wrong to disturb this silence. The way Atsumu sinks into your arms, seeking your comfort, you figure words weren't need for now. So, you stroke his hair and rub his back, letting him know that you were here
Moments pass by until Atsumu takes in a deep breath. "Ya know I would never cheat on ya, right?"
You blink. That was not something you expected to hear. "Of course not, what brought this on?"
Atsumu turns so his cheek rests against your chest. "Some bastard was talkin' on and on 'bout how I would fuck another girl behind yer back." His eyebrows crease together as he says this. "Made sure to punch him real good." he mutters. "Shoulda punched him more, an' harder."
Your hand instinctively tugs his arm up from underneath your body, gasping when you see the bruise on his knuckles. "Tsumu-"
" 'm fine," he pulls his hand back, wrapping around your body once more.
Physically maybe, but something was still bothering him. Atsumu grows quiet again, staring off into the wall, off in another place. You think about his words, or rather the words someone else had said about him. It ticks you off.
"They're stupid, acting like they know how you are," you settle on. The media loves to paint him as some sort of player and because of that, that's how people end up seeing Atsumu. An amazing setter, but also a man who hops from woman to woman like some sort of game of hopscotch.
You've seen people theorizing on social media on how long it'll be before Atsumu ditches you. It's pathetic really, how they treat your relationship like a game and Atsumu as some sort of heartbreaker when that couldn't have been farther from the truth. Unlike the media, you know Atsumu.
You know how he always stuff his face with his brother's food because his onigiris are the damn best onigiris in the world. You know how he grows pouty whenever you beat him on video games. You know how much he loves to kiss your lips, making you feel like you're the most precious girl in the entire world.
"It made me think," Atsumu starts off. "People think I would cheat on ya cos' yer not good enough fer me, that there's someone else out there, but they're wrong. They're all fuckin wrong," he spits out.
He raises his head from your chest to finally look at you. "Yer the only one f'me, the only one who has ma heart, the only one I wanna come home ta. There's no one else, just you. Always you."
Your eyes soften at his words. "Tsumu...," you say in a hushed voice, moving to cup his cheeks but he moves his head back, turning away from you. Confusion covers your face. "What is it?"
Atsumu drags out a heavy sigh, coming from the depths of his very soul. " "s just...'m not good enough fer ya." he confesses quietly.
"How long have you felt this way?" you ask gently. It feels as though this has been something he's been thinking about for some time, something that's been festering in the dark corners of his mind, his insecurities coming to bloom.
He runs a hand through his hair. "Fer a while."
"It's not true-"
" it is," he insists, cutting you off. Atsumu shakes his head. " 'm not good enough, never will be." his voice shakes and cracks like small embers on logs. How many times has he repeated this to himself?
He swallows, shuddering breaths escaping him. "Ya deserve so much, ya deserve everythin. But 'm not enough. I don't deserve ya." tears fill his eyes. " 'm know I'm away at games a lot an' I can be a prick an' just...i get scared. That one day, you'll leave me."
Tears stream down his face, heavy sobs crawling up from his throat. You feel hot tears of your own burning behind your eyes. "Baby no," you choke out, cupping his cheeks. "I would never leave you, never."
"Please don't," Atsumu croaks. "Please stay, please. I know I have no right, that I don't deserve ya but I don't think I can be without ya."
It hurts, hearing him talk about himself that way. For many, Atsumu was confident. Confident in volleyball, his words, his actions, but he's been hiding this all this time. Hiding how he feels, his unworthiness, his self loathing.
You pull his head down to your neck, allowing him to seek refuge there. Atsumu muffles his sobs against your skin, his whole body trembling in your arms. Blinking back tears, you keep him as close as possible to your body.
"I love you Atsumu, I love you so much," you whisper, kissing the side of his head. He whimpers, tightening his arms around you. "I love how you hold me, making me feel so safe. I love how you can make me laugh so hard my stomach hurts. I love how passionate you are about volleyball. There's so, so many things I love about you Tsumu. I can't imagine my life, my future, without you. You make me so happy."
You pause, trying to compose yourself. Your shirt is damp, but you don't care. You'll soak in all his sadness, his pain, all of it. You'll take it all from him.
"Please don't say you're not enough Tsumu, because you are. You're more than enough. You're deserving of love, so much love.
Tears stain your cheeks, your breaths short and shaky. You hope Atsumu believes the words, believes you. There's nothing you wouldn't do for him. You would bring the stars down from the sky to make constellations in his name.
The tears have stopped, but Atsumu continues to breathe heavily against you. You go back to playing with his hair, knowing how soothing it is for him.
"Can ya keep holdin me?" His voice is quiet, but you hear him loud and clear.
"For as long as you need."
