# bokuto
bokuto is absolutely beside himself when he wakes up and your side of the bed is cold and empty. quickly he sits up and calls your name, "y/n?? y/n, baby?" no response the crease in his brows deepening with the frown on his lips. "must he in the bathroom or something" he mumbles to himself, clumsily getting out of your shared bed and walking fast to the bathroom down the hall. he knocks on the door quietly, "babe, you in there?" he waits a few seconds before opening the door, only to find the room dark and empty. now he's feeling really nervous, where the hell were you? 'the kitchen?' he thinks but when he gets there it too is empty, he basically tears the whole house apart looking for you, no where to be found. maybe you left him? finally got tired of his immature personality, maybe you just couldn't stand to be with him another minute- even as he slept.
the negative thoughts plagued his brain, so much so in fact, he hadn't even heard the front door of your shared apartment open, or the thud of your snacks hitting the hardwood floor. he hadn't even noticed you make your way toward him, "bokuto, baby, what's wrong?" his head snaps up at the sound of your voice, "y/n? you're back?" he reaches out for you and you stand there hugging him as he sat on the couch, "yeah, i couldn't sleep so i went to get snacks. why are you crying though? did you have a nightmare?" you run your hands through his hair and it calms him down almost immediately. "n-no but i reached for you and you were gone and t-then i couldn't find you anywhere.... i-i thought you left me for good." he hiccups, you feel guilt creep up your chest at his words. "oh bo, baby no! i just didn't wanna wake you since you have a match tomorrow." he sighs, arms wrapping around you tighter, "please just wake me up next time, you really scared me." you promise you won't leave the house without telling him from now on and cheer him up with some of the snacks you bought, and kisses of course.
# suna
suna's first feeling is disappointment as he reaches over to pull your body closer to his, still half asleep, but is met with an empty space. he's annoyed but doesn't think too much about it, you probably had use the bathroom or something so you'd be back in no time. it's only when he realizes too much time has gone by and you still weren't in bed he starts to get really irritated and a little nervous, why weren't you back in bed? he groans, throwing the comforter away from his body and stands from the bed, "y/n where the hell did you go?" his voice his hoarse as he calls out for you checking each room in the apartment, only for them to be empty. he curses to himself as he sits on the couch, plenty of emotions running through his veins. it worried him that he had no clue where you were and it pissed him off that you hadn't said anything before you left. even more though, he couldn't shake the uncomfortable feeling that maybe you left with the purpose of never coming back- it made him uneasy.
he hadn't meant to fall asleep on the couch in same position he'd sat down in, the sound of the front door opening snapping him awake almost immediately. all he felt was annoyance, it was nearly 2 am and here you were walking through the front door, paper bags in hand. "where the hell did you go?" the question comes out a little harsher than he'd originally wanted it to but he was too tired to care at this point. you flinch at his question, "uhm to the convenience store? i couldn't sleep so i decided to get snacks and you have a game later so i didn't wanna wake you." he rolls his eyes, "so you leave me to wake up alone? i couldn't find you anywhere- i was worried sick. do you only think about yourself or something?" well shit, he hadn't meant to say that last part. you drop your bags to the ground and immediately suna knows he's fucked up big time. "i-i'm sorry, i just didn't want to wake you up b-because-" you were already breathing heavy, tears staining your cheeks and suna has no idea how he can recover from this.
"oh fuck, baby- i didn't mean to- shit i'm so sorry" he inches closer to you and to his surprise you let him embrace you "i didn't mean to snap at you, i swear. i'm just so tired and i was so fucking worried you weren't gonna come back- god i'm so sorry" he hold you tight in his arms, "i'm sorry too rin, i should've at least left a note, but i knew i wasn't gonna be gone for long so i didn't even think about it." you apologize but he only shushes you, "still, i should have never snapped at you." you nod against his chest, "you really worried me though, i thought that- you know what it doesn't matter, you're back now. let's eat those snacks you brought back, yeah?" the two of you spend the rest of the night eating the snacks you bought and suna holds you close and tight like you'll fade away if he doesn't.
# kyotani
kyotani is a heavy sleeper, especially after a long set and he's definitely not a morning person- no matter the time he's woken up. so when he wakes up you side of the bed empty and cold, he already feels him becoming agitated. he rolls over to check his phone, 3:52 am, "what the fuck, y/n" the grumbles, "y/n." he yells, loud but no response, "of course you're gonna make me get up." he scoffs. firstly he searches the living room, he knew that oftentimes, you had trouble sleeping and knowing he hated to be woke up, you would sneak into the living room to watch tv until you were sleepy again but of course you weren't there. you weren't in the kitchen either, and he didn't find you in the bathroom nor on the balcony. kyotani checks his phone, no texts no calls, nothing. he rolls his eyes and throws himself onto the couch refusing to text or call you out of his own stubborn national, plus, what if you were driving? he turns on the tv to distract himself from the pit of anxiety bubbling in his belly, nothing can really stop his thoughts from running wild though, he can't shake the feeling that you weren't coming back and had left him for good, finally tired of his- well everything about him, really.
he thoughts are interrupted when he hears the front door open, relieved to see your face but angry as he remembers you'd left without a word. he frowns standing up to meet you at the front door, apparently you weren't expecting him because you flinch as he makes his presence known by clearing his throat, "oh fuck- kyo you scared me! why are you awake?" he scoffs "oh i scared you? well at least you didn't wake up to an empty house at nearly four am" his tone has you frowning, "i didn't wake you up because you'd be upset with me and i knew you needed rest after your show from earlier." his face softens but still he rolls his eyes and glances at the bags in your hands. "whatever, what's in the bags?" he takes them from you and sets them on the island counter, "i couldn't sleep so i went to get snacks." you follow him to the kitchen, "i got your favorite too." if he was still annoyed before he definitely wasn't anymore, did he even deserve the snacks? he'd just snapped at you minutes earlier. he grunts in acknowledgment, "c'mon, we can eat together, kyo. i'll put on a movie." you grab his hand in one hand and the bags of snacks in the other and lead him to the living room where you both lay on the couch.
his silence is all too loud as you put on a movie you both enjoy, "kyo, is something wrong?" kyotani can't help the tears that form in his eyes as he embraces you tightly, "i was worried about you, you brat. why'd you leave without telling me? you coulda left me a text or something." you're stunned at his sudden outburst, "i was only gone for 30 minutes, kentaro... but still i'm sorry, i should've left a note, but i didn't think you'd wake up while i was gone?" you rub his back and chuckle, "did you miss me that much, baby?" he shakes his head as best he can while it's in the crook of your neck, "i thought you weren't gonna come back." his confession surprises you, "oh... why would i not come back? i love you too much to leave for good." you grin, "really?" "really". the both of you spend the rest of the dark hours of the morning watching movies and eating the snacks you bought all while in a tight embrace.

a/n: posting this bc i haven’t posted in forever hope you enjoy, reblogs appreciated
You were sitting in your living room reading a book as your boyfriend came back from an early Saturday shift around mid day to your shared house.
While he was gone you had received a package at your doorstep. Heavy furniture packaged in a big cardboard box at your doorstep.
You had planned for your boyfriend to be home to help you move it two bookshelves for the living room.
However it started to rain and you didn’t want the package to get wet, and you were independent grown woman, you could move a box.
So you spent 30 minutes moving a box about the size of a fridge up a flight of stairs, through your doorway to the living room.
While you were moving it you definitely pulled something in your back. Now laying on your couch your lower back in pain.
Katsuki came home to you laying on the couch and a giant box in your living room. You knew he would cuss you out for hurting yourself when you could’ve called him to move it.
“I’m back y/n-“ He stopped looking at the box bigger than yourself standing in your living room, “The delivery guys put it in the living room.” He interrupted himself assuming wrong.
You hummed in response not wanting to say yes or no.
“Okay I’ll put it together tonight.” He said
Leaning down to kiss you. You met him halfway with a small wince and smiled in that kiss.
“I can do it later, I just want to lay down right now.” You said falling back on the couch.
“No I’m doing it.” He said. He hated how independent you are. Wanting you to rely on him but you never fully could always making excuses.
“Fine.” You sighed. Katsuki leaned down to give you a kiss again and reached around to drag your forward.
You gasped in pain as he held onto your lower back.
“What’s wrong.” He said pulling back quickly with a frown looking at your body. Thinking he had hurt you
“Nothing.” Trying to move his hand but Katsuki wasn’t budging. Vermillion eyes narrowing
“You’re lying.” He said and he pinched your back making you whimper.
“Ow. Ow. Ow. Okay.” You said
“What did you do.” Katsuki asked, his hands on your hips holding you.
“I moved the box… myself.” You admitted and his eyes narrowed.
“What the hell were you thinking? You could’ve called me. That box is bigger than you.” He yelled as you threw back your head at his scolding of you knowing it was because he loves you.
“You had patrol. And I can do it, I am fully capable of doing things by myself
“You could have called me. You know I would’ve come back to move the box.” He said with a frustrated look. “Why didn’t you call me, you never call me. I’m your boyfriend I’m supposed to do it. I’m supposed to open jars for you, move heavy objects, and fix things for you. Let me do it. Now you’re hurt.” He said
“It’s fine I’ll be okay just a couple of days and my back will be fine.” You lied to comfort him.
“Don’t lie to me, how bad does it hurt.” He said concerned
“An 8,”
“Jesus-“
“Calm down.”
“No next time you need something call me or I’m gonna lose it. I don’t care if you don’t feel like walking and you call me to carry you up the stairs. You call me.” Katsuki said. “What kind of boyfriend am I to have you throwing out your back to move something.”
“The kind that saves people for a living and loves me when I do stupid things like hurt my back.” You said with doe eyes you knew that made him melt. Bringing him in by the back of his neck for a kiss.
Pressing his forehead to yours and rubbing his face, his favorite action of yours. Never truly getting mad at you when you loved him.
“Did you call a doctor? You could’ve slipped a disc, or-“
You laughed at how anal he could be. “No I did not, I will be fine in a couple days.”
“How do you know that?” He asked
“I swear you are just as stressed as Izuku.” You said kissing him.
He grumbled rubbing your leg, “Don’t compare me to shitty Deku. I worry because I love you and you are a moron.”
“You’re best friends for a reason, and I am a moron that loves you and I’m going to ask for your help right now.”
Katuski ignored your first comment, “Is that so?”
“Yes because I need you to help me walk to the kitchen. I’m hungry and I’ve been stuck on this couch.”
Katsuki picked you up by your armpits and walked you to the kitchen with your legs wrapped around his waist.
“How was patrol?” You asked
“Great. I love fighting with a bank robber when my girlfriend is injuring herself because she won’t pick up the phone to call me.” He said with an attitude all you could do was roll your eyes.
“How long are you going to be mad at me.” You said tugging on his blonde hair. He grunted at your hands handling him.
Katsuki sat you gently on one of the chairs. Standing in between your legs, both arms caging you, and dropping his head.
“I’m not mad at you, im pissed that you won’t call me. Being a pro hero isn’t going to kill me you are.” He grumbled and you laughed.
“What do you want to eat?” He asked pulling away to cook for you.
“Whatever you want to cook.”
You sat in the kitchen as he cooked and you tried to help.
Trying to open a jar and your boyfriend gave you the dirtiest look.
“What did we just talk about.” He said wanting to snatch the jar out of your hand.
You held it out to him.
“Cut me some slack, please. I am used to being independent for as long as I’ve been alive.” You said
“We have been together for almost a year now. And I am here now for you. So relax please. I like taking care of you.” He said grabbing your hand and giving it a kiss. “We bought the house to be together and I can baby you.”
“You are such a sap.”
“The headline yesterday was “Dynamight’s Rage.” He replied his back turned to you cooking one of your favorite meals.
“Yes you’re so scary baby.” You sarcastically said
Both of you knowing that he had a temper and could terrify anyone. But as scary as Katsuki was he was far more scared of you when you got in your moods.
Katsuki finished cooking for you, placed you back on the couch, and made you sit there as he built the bookshelves.
He opened the box with a tool kit and instructions. You sat on the couch eating the food he made. The living room covered in styrofoam packaging and cardboard.
Even after a grueling shift, your boyfriend had cooked you a full dinner and was assembling shelves just for you.
You were type A and liked to be in control and do things yourself. Bakugo was also type A and trying to build it as you tried to control.
“No baby it’s screw A that’s screw H.” You said reading the instructions he threw.
He didn’t listen to anyone but you got half an ear.
“I know what I’m doing I don’t need the instructions.” Bakugo griped.
“I’m serious, please do it right. My books are my babies.” You complained.
“Woman you already injured yourself, can you let me do this.”
“If you did it right then I wouldn’t be complaining.” You shot back.
He let out a huff ignoring you continuing to build.
After the third time of him doing something you didn’t like you got frustrated.
Getting up off the couch, Katsuki heard you move not even turning.
“Get back on that couch before I strap you down.” He said not looking up. His red eyes focused on the wood planks.
You continued to move off the couch with a wince and Katuski turned around from the floor narrowing his eyes.
“Ass back on the couch. Now.”
“You’re not doing it right.” You whined halfway up.
He stood up his big body towering over you. Guiding back to the couch.
“You are a control freak. Sit down before I lock you in the bedroom or in the car to drive you to the hospital.” Katsuki threatened sitting you back down and throwing a heavy blanket on you to hold you down.
He was always so gentle with you even when he was ticked off.
After about an hour he saved the last bookshelf for tomorrow to cuddle you in bed.
“I told you I knew what I was doing.”
You hummed at his cockiness. He had given you some Advil and was gently massaging your back in your bed. You trapped in his big arms, your chests touching. His thick fingers gently pressing against your lower back.
“You like being my superman huh?” You said into his chest.
“Superman? Screw him I’m your Dynamight baby.”

haikyuu masterlist
Tsukishima Kei had smiles for every person and occasion. The sarcastic one, for when he's messing with his friends or talking back some provokation, the polite one, mostly used when he’s talking to adults, the subtle one, for when he’s near the people he loves but tries to contain his expression of affection as much as he can (but you can still see how the corners of his mouth lift slightly), the one for his parents and the one almost imperceptible, for when he’s on the volleyball court. But there was one more: Tsukishima Kei’s true smile.
For a long time you had no idea it existed, but after you saw it, you promised yourself to make him smile everyday.
“The plane is arriving in ten minutes!” You send the message and lock your phone, looking out of the window to see the brightful daylight turning shades of purple and blue.
“I’m here. Remember to pick up ALL your bags, we don’t want you to lose your wardrobe. Again.” You roll your eyes playfully at your boyfriend’s response.
Happiness fills your chest at the thought of being reunited with him again. Spending four years overseas was hard. You were alone in a country you didn’t know, studying in a foreing language, living with people of different cultures and habits, away from your family, friends, and beloved partner. But as difficult as it was, you would do it all again.
Thankfully with the help of the internet, you and Tsukki managed to overcome the long distance relationship. Sometimes the time difference got in the way, but waking up to an audio of the blond wishing you a good day and encouraging you to keep going was a big boost to start the day in a good mood. You had scheduled facetime calls every week, that you two were very committed to, no matter what you knew the other would be on the other side to pick up the call. At times the distance was painful, not having the comforting touch, smell, presence of each other, but you had to remind yourselves that soon enough you would be back into one another’s arms.
Like your boyfriend reminded you, you make sure to grab all your luggage. Excitement flows throughout your body as you walk out of the gate where people are waiting for their loved ones. You look through the crowd a little until golden brown eyes meet yours.
“Kei!”
You run to him, letting a few bags behind, and jump into his arms, wrapping your legs around his hips. He holds you tight and spins you around a few times, burying his face on your neck to finally feel that sweet perfume of yours.
You cup his face with both hands and kiss him deeply. He kisses you back immediately, both smiling though the kiss.
“I missed you so much.” He says, pressing his forehead on yours.
“I missed you more.”
“Impossible.”
You get off of him and he helps you get the forgotten bags on the airport floor. He takes the time you’re distracted with your things to admire you and how much you changed during your time apart. The phone camera just couldn’t capture how prettier you got during these past years, and gladfully, now he can take in your beauty as my=uch as he wants to.
“Did you get shorter?” He asks with a smirk, patting your head as if to measure your height.
You squirt your eyes and pout, earning a laugh from him. He can see the tiredness in your eyes, a result of the long flight and poor nap sessions during it.
“Wanna go home and cuddle?” Your eyes light up and you intertwine his fingers with yours.
“Yes!”
Both of you make your way to his apartment, sharing kisses, hugs and caresses every now and then. After taking a shower, you waste no time plopping yourself on Tsukishima’s chest and stumble into a deep sleep, being warmed up by his arms around you.
[...]
You wake up a couple hours later to a cold bed. Still rubbing your eyes, you sit up and search for the blond in the room. You lazily get up and walk to the hall to find the whole apartment with the lights off, the only illumination source is a yellowish glow coming from where you suppose is the kitchen.
“Kei?” You call out.
“I’m here, precious.”
When you enter the kitchen you see the table set with delicious looking food and candles lit up in the middle. Your eyes widen and a surprised smile pasts your lips.
“Kei, this is beautiful...” You say, approaching him. He pulls you closer by the waist and delivers a kiss to your forehead.
“I thought we should celebrate your return.”
With his free hand he pulls the chair for you to sit and you do so willingly. Tsukishima sits in front of you and asks about how it was to study abroad, he already knew of course, since you two talk constantly, still, he would never get tired of the things you say - no matter how many times you do -. He asked about your course and felt his chest flutter as your eyes shined when you said your favorite things about it or funny stories of you and your friends.
He had missed this so much. Just listening carefully to every word that falls out of your mouth, enjoying your sweet presence, he could do it all day, he wants to do it all day.
“… and then we had to run out of there- baby, are you okay? Is there a problem.” Kei comes out of his trance, he didn’t even noticed how he was staring at you
“I’m great.” He says, taking a bite of his food. You raise an eyebrow in suspicion.
“Now, tell me.”
“What?”
“What were you thinking?”
“Nothing much.”
“You were so focused on it, c’mon, tell me.”
“It’s just- I missed you a lot. And being away from you was killing me, I missed you all the time, I missed your laugh, your voice, your messy hair when you wake up, your clinginess. I just couldn’t be away from you anymore, I don’t want to be away from you ever again.” He sighs and gets up, then crunches down beside you and takes your hands in his. “I love you. More than you could ever imagine.”
“I love you more, Kei.” You lean down to kiss him. It’s not every time that your boyfriend is sweet like this, at least not with words, he usually shows his love through actions, so you make sure to enjoy the fullest moments like this.
Tsukishima reaches for his pocket during the kiss, grabbing a small velvet box he has been keeping for a while now. He breaks the kiss, locking at you with nothing but love in his eyes, and shaking slightly as he opens the box.
“L/n Y/n, will you stay with me forever?”
You look down to see a beautiful ring. It’s not flashy, with big diamonds or anything like that, it’s way better, a simple, elegant silver ring with a delicate stone on top.
“Kei…” You bring both hands to your mouth. Tears start to flow down your cheeks and you start to not continuously. “Yes! Of course yes!”
And there it was. Tsukishima Kei’s true smile. A beautiful smile that made the blush from your cheeks rin down your whole body, a warm, bright smile that you’re sure could light up the whole town.
He takes the ring out and puts it on your finger, then kisses your knuckles gently.
“I love you so much.” He wraps his arms around your waist and buries his face on your neck, where you can feel him still smiling against your skin..
“I love you too.”
From then on, you started to see that smile more often. But you were wrong in one thing, not only that was Tsukishima Kei’s true smile, that was his smile for you.

synopsis: reader is overwhelmed and has been keeping everything to themselves. Bakugo hates this, and won’t let them self isolate. a/n: this is incredibly self indulgent but I hope this is as comforting to read as it was to write
cw: crying, being overwhelmed, insecurity and overthinking, idk what else, lemme know if I missed something
——————————————————————————————————
“Something’s wrong.” Katsuki stated, the same way one might say ‘the sky is blue.’
“What makes you think so?” You turned around in your chair to look at your boyfriend. You gave him your most earnest smile, trying to not let happen what he was trying to do.
You had carefully constructed walls to keep your worst emotions away from people, you had to handle them yourself. You couldn’t rely on anyone else. If Katsuki ever knew how you truly thought and felt, you’d be too much, he wouldn’t be able to handle you, he wouldn’t love you, he’d leave you.
“Cut the crap. F/n told me you haven’t spoke to them in days, and you aren’t the type for that shit.” He said, studying your face for any kind of response.
When you didn’t say anything, he continued. “They said they messaged you and you didn’t respond. You always respond to everyone immediately, so something has to be wrong.”
“I’m okay ‘Suki. I’ve just… had a little extra on my plate lately, but I’m alright I swear,” you tried to assure him, even though each word was an absolute lie.
He squinted. Although impulsive, Katsuki Bakugo is not stupid. Especially not when it comes to you. He may have been a little more aggressive because he was frustrated at himself for not noticing something was off sooner, but he wanted to help you. Because he loves you, and he wants to help you the way you helped and continue to help him. He grabbed your shoulders, making eye contact with you, trying to pry the truth from your eyes.
You looked away, ashamed and not wanting to spill it all. Insecurity chipped away at you. You were positive he wouldn’t love you if he knew how bad the storm in your mind had gotten. How deep the waters were.
“No, you’re not alright, dumbass. You’ve been acting overly happy lately, but you’ve been distant. You’re good at putting on an ‘I’m fine’ face, sometimes too damn good, but your eyes are so empty,” admitting his worry for you almost made him want to tear up.
But he couldn’t, he had to get to the bottom of this. He knew, he personally knew what it was like to keep everything in, to never feel able to tell anyone, to be drowning in your own feelings, thoughts, and troubles. He knew what it was like to keep it all to yourself until you snapped, until you felt beyond repair, until it was too much and impossible to feel sane. And he wouldn’t let that happen to you.
You shook your head. “Please just drop it, Katsuki, I’m busy, I don’t have time for this,” why was he trying so hard? You had convinced yourself no one cared, no one would care.
He moved his hands from your shoulders to your face, making you look at him. “I can see that something is wrong, and I refuse to let you deal with it by yourself. You’re only going to make it worse if you don’t tell me. Please,” he said, voice nearly breaking. “Please, tell me. I hate seeing you pretend like you’re okay. We both promised to work on our communication. You’ve seen me at my lowest, and you helped me through it, you loved me when I was a moody, arrogant shitty teen. Why would your problems be any different? I promise you, I won’t judge you for it. You can’t get rid of me. So please, y/n, please. Tell me what’s wrong. Please talk to me,” he was nearly pleading at this point.
You felt your eyes well up with tears. Damn it, you had worked so hard at constructing your walls, but he was bringing them down. Why was he so good at this? You had to divert the attention away from yourself. “Oh? It seems I have the hero Dynamight begging. One would consider this an accomplishment,” you said with a forced giggle.
“Don’t give me that shit. Don’t do this to me, to yourself,” his tone was softer than you’d ever heard it before, emotion sitting in the back.
A calloused thumb stroked your cheek. It was a small, mundane, minimal act of affection, but yet it made your emotions go haywire. You looked up, meeting his gaze finally, and it broke you. He looked so genuine. A single tear fell, and that was the drop that made the dam break. The walls cracked, and cracked, and all that you had stored up, kept away carefully, came rushing down. Before you knew it, the tears wouldn’t stop flowing.
Katsuki felt odd for being happy that you were crying, but he was relieved you finally let it out. He wrapped his arms around your midsection, carefully lifting you to stand. One arm remained wrapped around you, while the other moved to hold the back of your head, carefully bringing your face to rest on his chest. Every sob chipped away at his heart. It had been months since you cried like this, and the last time you did you were alone. It was all so much, you felt as if you were going to crumble to pieces.
But Katsuki held onto you the whole time, though you fell apart he held the pieces in his arms. He didn’t tell you that it’s okay, or that you’re okay, because it’s plain to see that you aren’t, but he repetitively reassured you that he’s here, and he won’t leave. His muscular arms held you close to his heart while you cried it out. You’d been keeping it in for so long, you didn’t even realize all the things you were feeling. It hurt, and it hurt badly. Hurts, pains, stresses, all your grievings flowed like your tears.
Katsuki pressed the occasional small kiss to your head, gentle reminders that he’s with you. He was never one to be very good with words, and though he’s tried to get better at it, he hoped his shows of affection through acts would be enough to convey to you that he cares. Because he cares so much, so much he can barely contain it, he feels so angry when you feel like this, not at you, not towards you, but angry that he can’t fistfight your feelings so they go away. He began to slowly rock you while you stood, protected by his hold. Had you not been in such a sour state, you would have smiled at this action.
After what felt like quite awhile, all your tears had dried up, and your body began to feel tired. Though you were resting against him this whole time, your body relaxed more as you became more tired. All the crying you had done zapped your energy. When he recognized this, Katsuki led you to your shared bedroom where he motioned for you to sit on the bed.
“I’ll be back in a moment. Don’t do anything stupid, you hear me?” He said firmly.
You nodded. You felt so drained after your crying session, but yet a little bit lighter. You didn’t want to admit that Katsuki holding you while you let out your emotions helped, but it really did. While you were comforted by the knowledge of him reassuring you the whole time you cried, your insecurities didn’t go away. Your heart told you that you could trust him, and you knew he loves you, but your mind made you doubt. What if it was all an act? If you actually spoke your mind, vocalized your thoughts and feelings, would that be the end of it for your relationship?
“Oi, dumbass. Drink up. You’ll get dehydrated,” Katsuki’s voice broke you out of your spiraling thoughts.
You looked up, and he was handing you a glass of water. You accepted it, taking a few sips before setting it on the nightstand. The blond man took a seat next to you on the bed, slinging his arm around your shoulders, and pulling you closer to him.
“You were thinking. What is it?”
As you stated at him, tears filled your eyes again, and Katsuki carefully wiped them away with calloused fingers. “I’m just… afraid. What if you think I’m too much? What if you can’t handle my problems? I don’t want to be left, what if-“
“Hey. Cut that shit out. I won’t do any of that, and that’s a promise. When have I ever broken my promises, hm?”
You smiled faintly. “Never.”
“Exactly. Now tell me what’s going on.”
While you explained, he listened. He’d always listen, and he’d always be there. When you had finished, he gave his two cents, with a fair share of curses. You sighed contentedly. Katsuki was awkward at times, blunt, rash, and could be a little rough around the edges, but his stubbornness wasn’t always a bad thing. He never failed to show you how much he cared. His love for you was so strong it was nearly tangible, like a thread in the air you could almost reach out and grab it. No matter what you were dealing with, he would always be there. While he is a pro hero, he’s not a magician, so he wouldn’t be able to make all your problems disappear, as much as he wishes he could. Sometimes, he couldn’t do anything about the storms raging in your head, but he was there, always there, and that’s all that mattered. As long as you had him to hold you, you’d be content. He’d always be there to drag you out of your isolation, your loneliness. It wasn’t long before you fell asleep in his arms, and Katsuki would not let you go, even after he himself fell asleep. It was his way of saying “I love you.”
katsuki loves you. from the bottom of his heart, he does. he loves how you help so many people, even without realizing it. he loves the way you're so unbelievably contagious, cheering up your friends when they're not feeling their best selves. and he feels so fuckin' grateful that you chose him to share your existence with.
you save so many people. you tell them to take care of themselves. you listen, and lend a hand to those in need when they need it most.
but what katsuki can't stand - what he fuckin' hates seeing the most - is you refusing to lend yourself that helping hand.
you don't hesitate to take care of anyone... so why is it so hard for you to take care of yourself?
you think you hide it well; you think nobody can see that you're truly, silently suffering. but none of this is fooling him. he's too perceptive for that. he catches you one night, completely offguard while you're crying.
katsuki's quick to envelop you in the tightest of hugs. his fingers, gently thread through your hair. he shoves your face into the crook of his neck, and there's absolutely no way you can escape his embrace now. no way you can possibly hide from him. and before he speaks, with the softest voice you've ever heard, he kisses your temple, tenderly like lovers do. like they should do.
"let me help you," he says, feeling your poor body shaking in his arms. "i want to take care of you."
you haven't heard kinder words in such a long, long time, it's powerful enough to shake you out of your sobbing and leaves you ultimately frozen.
"please," he pleads. and katsuki never says 'please.' "teach me how to love you. let me save you when you can't. and don't give me that, 'i'll be fine,' bullshit."
he pulls back to look you in the eye, his forehead pressing flush to yours. nose to nose.
"don't you fuckin' get it? you're all i have," his voice, so used to commanding with confidence and barking orders, croaks underneath hidden pressure, and cracks.
"you're the most important person in my life, dumbass," his throat bobs as he swallows. "and i don't ever wanna lose you."

izuku who always puts his backpack on your seat (that’s right next to his) to save your seat when you’re late to class.
izuku who grabs you a small muffin and your preferred drink on some mornings, just to see that sunshine smile on your face.
izuku who writes his notes ever messily (with vague loops here and there) and gets so flustered and embarrassed when he lets you borrow them, “i promise they’re not always that messy!”
izuku who clutches on the handle of your backpack when you’re in crowded hallways so the two of you don’t get lost.
izuku who gets so happy when you turn to him to ask for help in class, he’s happy you think he’s reliable enough to assist you.
izuku who always has random doodles in the margins of his notebooks and some days he finds himself drawing you in the corners of his biology notes.
izuku who has his hand laid underneath his chin as he gazes at you with pure and utter love from across the classroom instead of paying attention to the calculus splayed across the board.
character/s: bakugo katsuki, shinsou hitoshi, midoriya izuku, kaminari denki
genre: fluff :)
notes: i'm sorry i haven't posted in a while :( i was a lot busier for the winter break than i thought i'd be n i also didn't rly have much energy nor inspo at the time skfjskfn
✧ bakugo katsuki always has a way to let you know he's listening to you. the second you start talking, he'll take his earphones off and put his phone down, subtly leaning closer to you the longer you speak. when you try to cut your rambles short with, "sorry, i'm talking too much" or "nevermind, i think i already told you this" he only raises his brow and scoffs, "so? spit it out." then he'll pull you onto his lap and wrap his arms around your waist, caging you in, and will glare at you until you start talking again, because katsuki doesn't care one bit if he's hearing "the same shit" for the second, third, or the seventh time. as long as he gets to hear it from you, he's going to listen to every word, every time.
✧ shinsou hitoshi wants to tell you he loves you everyday, but that would mean getting over his nerves before attempting to. that is to say, hitoshi says his 'i love you's' through brief yet intimate contact and gestures. he'll link pinkies with you under the table, kiss your shoulder when nobody's looking, interlace his fingers into yours, locking eyes with you as he presses a lasting kiss on the back of your hand. his favorite thing to do is to wrap you in his arms and massage your scalp until you're in a dazed state, wherein he's much more comfortable saying, "i love you y/n..." he plants a kiss at the crown of your head before slightly leaning his head back, studying your calmed features adoringly, "... more than you'll ever know."
✧ the way midoriya izuku squeezes your hand and immediately calls your attention the instant he sees something he's sure you'd love. when your favorite song starts playing in a store, or when a small animal's tapping its paws in your direction, izuku's just as excited as you are. only his reason differs from yours. he's over the moon when you start squeezing his hand back out of excitement, turning to face him with animated eyes and the most adorable grin on your face. izuku didn't think it was possible you could get any more beautiful, neither did he think it was possible he could fall in love with you more than he already was.
✧ kaminari denki doesn't shy away at all from admiring you up close. he basically has permanent heart eyes for you. he'll gently tuck your hair behind your ear, brushing his thumb against your cheeks, and mutter about how he's glad can see your face better now. if you let him, he'll take tons of photos of you until his phone storage's full. when you tell him to delete the ones you find unflattering, he'll immediately do so whilst aggressively disagreeing with you, saying that he takes tons of photos of youー not because he's looking for the best angle, but because you look spectacular from all angles. when his friends catches him staring at his lockscreen (his favorite photo of you particularly), he doesn't mind all the teasing and the noises of disgust from bakugo. he's more than happy to shower you with praise, even when you're not there to hear them. "how can i not stare? they're gorgeous! you see this?" he smirks as he circles his arm to show everyone the photo, and when he lowers his phone to admire the photo again, his proud grin's toned down to a softer, more gentle smile of adoration, "just... perfect."

"Hey 'Samu. What's up?"
"Sorry ta bother ya Sunarin, I know yer packin' but yer roommate had a stressful day and is uh," Osamu clears his throat, "not safe ta get home. I'd drive but my car's-"
"In the shop, I know." Suna sighs and there's a soft jingle of keys. "I'll be there soon."
Osamu clears the bottles of sake off the counter cleaning around your slumped, sleeping form. He softly nudges you. "Sunarin's on his way ta get ya home."
You whimper pathetically, words slurring, "i'snot gonna be his homemuch longer."
Osamu feels a pang of his own pain.
It was bittersweet, his best friend being recruited by a division one team. He was mostly overjoyed and proud, knowing how long Suna had been playing volleyball, but a small part of him hurt because it meant his best friend moving away.
He knows Suna's always going to be his best friend so the distance won't damage their friendship but you...
His employee, the first one he hired who's been working for and with him since the beginning
Who got to know Suna from his frequent visits and became friends, accepting the spare room he offered when your old lease was up...
You don't have that history with Suna. Though you celebrated with him just as hard as Osamu, the part that hurts over him leaving is much larger.
After a few nasty customers today Osamu offered you a drink as you closed up. It quickly escalated as you poured your heart out and swore him to secrecy at the same time.
Osamu lets Suna in when he knocks and watches the middle blocker help you to your feet, draping one of your arms over his shoulders as he wraps one of his around your waist.
"What's gonna happen when you leave? Osamu asks quietly.
Suna snorts. "You're gonna need a bedroll in the office."
Osamu shakes his head. "No, Rin." He motions to you with his chin. "What happens...when you leave?"
Suna searches his friend's expression, not answering.
Osamu holds the door and keeps his promise, keeps your secret, but simply offers. "I think ya need ta talk about it."
Suna tucks you into the front seat, Osamu's words replaying in his head as he drives home, you slumped against the door in sleep.
"Suna!" You jump. "You scared me, I didn't see you there." You try to laugh it off, the surprise of finding him standing in the dark as you take out Onigiri Miya's trash, but you're clutching your chest. He can see through your false bravado. "What uh...what's up? Why are you standing out here like a creep?"
"I...got drafted."
You raise your brow and smirk. "What by the army?"
Normally he'd quip back but his heads spinning too much. "No. By EJP Raijon."
"Oh." Your expression clears in shock. "Oh damn, like drafted, drafted."
"Yeah." He shifts his gym bag.
"We'll that's, that's great right? That's what you were hoping for!"
"I guess." He shrugs.
"Tch, what do you mean you guess!" You grab his arm and drag him inside announcing to the whole restaurant that your roommate was going to play professional volleyball.
After one too many jokes that night about having to find a new roommate he started to get frustrated but when he asks "is that all you think of me? Your roommate?"
You stutter.
He'll never admit that his heart stopped beating in the few seconds it took you to answer.
"N-No, you're my f-you're my friend." You blink owlishly under his gaze and he wonders what else he could have been searching for.
Nothing.
Nothing happens, he already knows nothing happens when he leaves.
He helps you into the apartment and you robotically leave your shoes by the door and shuffle past the kitchen but you don't go to your room.
Eyes closed you sleepwalk into his room.
He quickly kicks his shoes off and chases after you with a gentle call of your name but you pull out of his grasp.
"Leavemelone Samu," you groan. "Jus lemme go tobed."
"I'm trying but this isn't your bed," he protests handling you far more patiently than he would anyone else.
Your features crumple like you're going to cry and you're still slipping out of his hands. "Yesi'is..." Your bottom lip trembles. "Sunasgone Samu, an' imtaking his room."
He stands helplessly in the middle of his own room as you climb into his bed, under his covers and wrap yourself tightly. He sees how you bury your nose in the blanket and inhale.
"Stil'smels like him, too..." You exhale shakily like you're still on the verge of tears. "Imnot gonna tell him he left this either..." Your breathing evens out as you drift. "...I's all I'll have to 'member him..."
Suna feels a strange pain in his chest as he watches your lips slack open.
You stretch, twisting your wrists as you flex your arms straight, and yawn. You slept surprisingly well given the last thing you remember is falling asleep on the counter at Onigiri Miya but your horizontal orientation clearly means you're in bed. And when you open your eyes and take in the piles of moving boxes you realize you're not in your own room.
Cringing in embarrassment you tiptoe out of bed, pausing at the door until you know the apartment's empty, you scurry to the bathroom.
After the longest shower you can stand, you get dressed to find your soon-to-be ex-roommate moving boxes closer to the door.
He regards you with his usual smirk. "Morning sleeping beauty."
There's a rush of heat to your cheeks and you don't know what to do with your hands. "I-I'm so sorry about last night."
"Which part?" He teasingly asks "the part where I had to drive all the way to Onigiri Miya to pick you up or the part where you stole my bed?"
You grimace. "Both."
"Don't worry about it," he chuckles dryly.
"Do you want any help?" you offer, doubting your ability to actually be helpful to a professional athlete and he smirks, thinking the same thing.
"Nah, I'm good." He goes back to his room and looks around, patting his pockets, before picking up the last box and adding it to the stack by the door. "The mover's are parking now."
You nod and try to stay out of the way as his things are moved out. As the last box is taken he goes back to his room and brings out a small cardboard box.
"Here."
Your brow dips as he hands the box to you. "What's this?"
He shrugs, dropping his keys on the counter for you. "Just a small going-away present."
"Oh, but I don't have..." Your words fade when he shakes his head.
"I'm good." He holds your gaze in his strange quiet intensity. "Take care of yourself."
"You-You too, Rin."
With the box in your arms you don't have to overthink giving him a hug versus a handshake or something equally awkward. He just waves once, leaves,
And you're alone.
Still holding the box you numbly shuffle into his room, taking in the vast emptiness from corner to corner.
Outside the moving truck rumbles, loudly at first until it drives off, leaving you in quiet.
You slowly sit down on Suna's bare floor and let yourself cry. You're going to miss the movie nights, shared meals, incessant jokes...
You're going to miss your old roommate...but he was never just your roommate, was he? From the moment he walked into Onigiri Miya you had been in love. And becoming his roommate, seeing him walk from the bathroom to his bedroom in just a towel, the way he would leave a cup of coffee on the counter for you in the mornings...only made you fall harder. Fall deeper.
But he was out of your league and your boss's best friend...so you never wanted to risk what you had.
Wiping tears and snot from your face you open the box, the sight of his blanket sending another wave of tears crashing down.
You pull it out and wrap it around yourself, crying harder, as a letter with your name in his scrappy writing falls out.
Hands shaking you pick it up and read:
I'm in love with you. I've loved you for a long time and was hoping you'd ask me to stay but you'd never do that, would you? Because you're a good person who supports me but I can tell you with 100% certainty that if the roles were reversed I wouldn't do the same for you.
You unfold the paper and something extra falls out. You absentmindedly lift it up as you read the end:
I know I'm moving and all but...I'm still gonna need a roommate....
Speechlessly you look at the extra thing, heart racing as you see it's an airline voucher.
...And I'd like that to be you.

Pairing: Alhaitham x GN!reader
Content: Modern AU, childhood friends, mildly suggestive
In which you reunite with Alhaitham, the nerdy scruffy kid you’d used to tease in middle school - except now, he is neither awkward, nor quite as small as he used to be.
“Are you coming to the reunion?” Your friend’s voice over the phone was excited, almost imploring.
“I’m not sure, should I?” You were sprawled across your bed languidly, phone tucked into your shoulder and laptop balanced precariously over your knees.
“Yes, please! I heard even Alhaitham’s coming to this one!”
“… Alhaitham?” You paused your typing for a moment to readjust your position.
“You two were assigned seats next to each other throughout middle school, weren’t you? I remember you always complained about it.”
“Oh, yes.”
“You should really come and see him. I’ve heard he’s now a prolific researcher. And Nilou finally got into the dance academy she wanted as well - oh, just turn up! It’ll be fun to meet our class again.”
“Ah, I’ll make an effort to come.” You replied, hanging up, although your mind was elsewhere. Alhaitham… That was a name you hadn’t heard in a long time.
You’d been distraught when you were forcibly separated from your friends by the woes of a middle school seating arrangement. Even more so when you realised that your desk partner was none other than Alhaitham, the hilariously awkward nerd who seemed to be physically attached to a book at all times. He was a scrawny kid - shorter than you at the time, hence the fond memories you had making fun of his height and mockingly peering down at him.
Coincidentally, the two of you had been forced to sit together for many classes over the next few years - leading to a casual sort of friendship. Or, that’s what you saw it as. You loved to tease Alhaitham, watching in glee as his neck and ears turned red. Looking back, he probably despised you now - you were quite mean back to him back then, taking advantage of the fact that he had a crush on you. Occasionally, the two of you would hang out outside of school, and although there was no dismissing how difficult it was to hold conversation with the boy, you grew to become fond of those times. Fond, to a certain extent.
Perhaps it was your own denial, but you preferred to remember it that way - merely sentimental fondness for pleasant times between friends.
In high school, you had decided to pursue humanities, whilst Alhaitham had gone down a different route. And so, the two of you inevitably grew apart, with you never rarely ever seeing him again. You were simply too busy - following your devious shenanigans in middle school, you’d decided to turn over a new leaf and engross yourself in academics to compensate for your former rowdiness.
-
On the day of the reunion, you were late. At least twenty minutes late, for sure - and that was if you could even get your car started. Drowning in student loans, you’d only managed to buy a third hand car that barely clung to life, and you were now suffering the consequences of its senile engine.
“Fuck!” After turning your key in the ignition again in exasperation, you got out of the vehicle in defeat, slamming the door shut and resorting to calling a taxi.
Fuming, you left your apartment block and waited out on the street, a frown fixed across your face. That frown was only further perpetuated when the most obnoxiously high end vehicle swerved, wheels skidding through a puddle and spraying you in filthy city water.
Almost too stunned to move, you glared into the heavily tinted car windows as the vehicle slowed to a stop by the curb. The driver’s side door opened, and a man stepped out.
Broad shoulders, ridiculously tall, muscular build and a tight fitting dress shirt… You craned your neck upwards, and almost recoiled.
“Alhaitham?!” You stumbled back.
“So you’re done staring at my pecs?” The former victim of your relentless bullying bent down mockingly to be eye to eye with you, a smirk decorating his face.
“They were right at eye level! Fuck, it’s not my fault you got tall.” You recovered from the shock quickly, remembering that you were furious at the man once again.
Alhaitham had definitely changed. His jawline was stronger now, and his gaze was different - the awkward tenacity of his preteen years was replaced with cut calculation, cold despite the playful gleam that occupied them. Catching yourself gawking again, you defaulted back to your scowl.
“You got me wet.” You accused.
“Oh, did I?” Alhaitham quirked a brow, grinning suggestively.
“Not in that way.”
“Do you want it in that way?”
“Stop trying to change the topic. The issue is, I’m soaked through with puddle water and about half an hour late to the reunion.” You snapped. Oh, how the tables had turned - now you were the one being teased, your face flushed and your fists clenched by your side.
“Alright, I get it. I apologise. Do you want my coat?” Alhaitham shrugged, looking down at you now in concern.
“Yes.”
“And a lift to the reunion as well, I assume?”
Archons, how much you hated him in that moment. His wry, mocking smile was back - although you were grateful for the warmth that now settled across your shoulders from his coat. Begrudgingly, you agreed, and Alhaitham ushered you into the passenger seat.
“Careful, watch your head. Don’t want you hitting it on the roof, because you’re just so much taller than me, aren’t you?” The man chuckled from behind you.
“Shut up, it was ten years ago.” You retorted, only to be met with another condescending laugh as he buckled your seatbelt for you. Alhaitham then climbed into the driver’s seat, starting the engine smoothly before pulling away from the curb - only pausing for a moment to shoot you a smug smile.
-
The reunion was pleasant, albeit mundane. Much to your annoyance, Alhaitham was the centre of attention - the gleaming golden child who’d had a glow up and dominated whatever lame industry he’d decided to get into. Despite this, he was remarkably different around others. A stoic expression was settled on his handsome features as he mostly kept conversations short and blunt, refusing alcohol.
You, on the other hand, had lost count of your glasses, relishing in the feel of liquor searing down your throat whilst you brooded from your seat next to Alhaitham.
“Alhaithaaam, why don’t you have a drink? You’re… no fun…” You mumbled, pushing your glass against his lips as you rested your head on his shoulder. It was warm, and broad - how pleasant it would be, to just rest on it.
“I have to drive you home, remember? Speaking of which, you should stop drinking now. It’s not healthy.” Alhaitham pushed your hand away, although he kept hold of your wrist to prevent you from pouring another glass.
“Just one more drink…” You whined, frowning and slamming your free hand over Alhaitham’s mouth upon sensing he was about to spew some medical fact about the effect of alcohol on the body. That was one thing that hadn’t changed about him.
“Alright, time to go. It was pleasant meeting everyone.” Alhaitham pursed his lips, pulling your hands away and tucking his arms under your shoulders to hoist you up.
“Nooo, I don’t wanna…” You flailed, vaguely making out the mirthful expressions of your former classmates before Alhaitham grabbed your legs and carried you out of the restaurant bridal style.
“Put me down!” You hit at his chest, which probably did more damage to your hands than it did to him, and kicked your legs to no avail.
“Shh, you’ll thank me for this in the morning.” Gently, you were set down in the passenger seat - hearing the click of the seatbelt buckle and the clink of the door shutting. Alhaitham readjusted his jacket around your form so that it covered you like a blanket, sighing and turning his attention to the road.
“Mm…. Do you have any wipes?” You rifled through Alhaitham’s glove box, before your fingers brushed over something. Pulling it out, you realised it was an old photo of you and him standing outside the school gates. A wide grin was spread across your face, one arm propped up on his head, a vastly less amused expression occupying his smaller features.
“Alhaithaam, what’s thiiis?” You snorted, delighting in the way Alhaitham’s adam’s apple bobbed at seeing the photo clutched in your hand. Finally, he’d broken his infuriating demeanour - even if it was only for a second. You decided to prod it further to get more of a reaction.
“Hmm… Maybe… You stiiill have a crush on me?” You smirked, although you put little thought into your words. There was no way the stoic, cold Alhaitham could maintain his former-
The car stopped with more force than necessary at the immediate red light. You weren’t sure if it was the reflection of those lights, but Alhaitham’s face appeared flushed. His hands gripped the steering wheel to the point where his knuckles turned white, eyes fixed on the road with searing intensity.
Oh?
“No waaay.” You turned to Alhaitham incredulously. Perhaps it was the liquor. The alcohol churning in your veins. After all, what other explanation could there be for your racing heart?
And, more importantly, did his heart race like yours?
The answer was in the abrupt stop of the car by the side of the road. In the cold, lithe fingers holding your chin. In the push of Alhaitham’s lips against yours, tasting like sweet mint. The answer, breathless, was muttered by your childhood friend as he finally pulled away.
“So what if I do?” Alhaitham’s voice was barely more than a whisper, his face close enough to the point you could feel his breath. His eyes were so beautiful, opulent green flecked with glowing amber. They searched yours desperately for a reply, for reciprocity.
You were confused. Drunk, both on alcohol and the taste of Alhaitham’s lips. So many feelings gushed around your head like the liquor you’d drunk earlier, sloshing nonsensically. As if to deflect the restlessness of your own heart, you leaned in again for another kiss - for that was the only certain reciprocation you could give.
And under the streetlight, amidst flushed cheeks and wandering hands, you found the Alhaitham you’d known from middle school again. The Alhaitham that blushed at your words, and shot you yearning looks. Chuckling between shallow breaths, you cupped his cheeks in your hands - smiling at the familiar face of the boy you’d loved.

MASTERLIST | TAGLIST
kuroo was certain he would never find love as he grew up surrounded by heartbreak, by venomous words and arguments that shake a house down to its core, by resentment and regret instilled in bitter performative kisses and wedding bands for props. yet you found him.
most days he wondered what kind of hero or saint he must have been in the past life to be loved by you–unconditionally and selflessly.
other days, he's plagued by his past and the recurring nightmare that the home your hearts settled in would be torn down by the same two pairs of hands that built it.
kuroo has been distant lately. you first played it off as being busy at work or being tired, but a feeling in your chest whispered that the longer you allowed it the worse it would get. besides he had a tendency to keep to himself until he no longer could and you hated how he felt the need to carry his burdens by himself.
you squeezed his tensed shoulders, peering at his paperwork sprawled all over his desk. "you should take a break, love," you whispered, nuzzling your face into the crook of his neck.
you winced at the way he subtly dodged your affection. "i know i'll be done in a sec," he mumbled dismissively, shuffling his documents.
"i kind of feel like you've been avoiding me lately. is there a problem?"
a beat of silence. "i'm not, just busy," he curtly replied.
"are you sure? you know you could talk to me if there's something bothering you." he only nodded in response to which you rest your case–something was definitely bothering him. "i can't help you if you don't tell me what's wrong, tetsu," you whispered, reaching to touch his shoulder again.
you audibly gasped as he quickly pushed your hand away. "i know, i get it. i just need to finish this like i said. you're not being of any help if you keep nagging me like this."
frowning, you crossed your arms over your chest. your patience was quickly wearing thin. "well i'm sorry for nagging you. i was just worried about you."
"oh i'm sorry! i'm the one constantly swamped with work but i have to worry about you worrying about me," he sarcastically remarked, rolling his eyes. the dim lights in his office traced his clearly annoyed features.
"what's that supposed to mean?" you raised an eyebrow at him.
he studied your expression for a moment before dismissing you once more. "nothing, forget it."
"no, can you stop brushing me off wh-"
"god," he dragged the word out in utter frustration, running a hand through his face. "can you not take a hint? i wanna be left alone!"
"how do you expect me to ignore this when there's clearly a problem and you're not telling me!" you argued, voice unintentionally raising out of frustration. it sort of felt like he wasn't hearing you, maybe getting the words out louder would help. but in truth, he just didn't want to listen.
in a swift, somewhat aggressive motion, he pushed his chair back and stood to face you. you stumbled back, merely startled by the sudden movements. you weren't afraid he was going to hit you, but the next words that came out of his mouth felt like he just did.
"has it ever occurred to you that maybe i don't want anything to do with you or your pointless worrying, that's why i never talk about the things that bother me!?" you blinked back ay him, trying to process his words. "probably not because all you ever care about is yourself anyway," he huffed, turning away from you.
"you're right, i haven't thought about it like that," you calmly mumbled, a stark contrast to him and your own from 30 seconds ago.
you meant it. though his words stung and there were about a hundred different ways he could have phrased it differently, you understood his point. kuroo was naturally closed off, hiding his vulnerability under a mask of sheer charm and confidence. you felt wrong for prying when he clearly wasn't ready to talk things through. it was for the sake of your relationship, you reasoned, but you didn't think about his own sake enough. he must have had a reason for hiding his troubles but it doesn't justify the way he acted.
you exhaled, breaking the silence. you dismissed your thoughts in favor of giving yourselves some time and maybe talk things through the following morning–properly and civilly like adults.
"i'm sorry for stressing you out. finish up soon so you could get some rest."
you closed the door behind you as you left his office and made your way into the bedroom where you got ready for bed–in silence, alone with your thoughts, replaying his words over and over.
you tossed and turned but sleep wasn't coming to you any time soon so it seemed. you quickly slipped on a hoodie, grabbed your wallet and keys and left for a bit of fresh air.
meanwhile, kuroo in his office had a lot of time to think. in the silence, all he heard was his own words to you echoing repeatedly. the more he dwelled on it the more he hated himself for the way he treated you. when he heard the door in the next room open and close he was half expecting you to enter his office, pry him off his work and get him to bed. instead, he heard the front door open and click close. he panicked.
he zoomed out his office to check the bedroom after a moment of being paralyzed with fear. he prayed that you never left at all and it was all in his head. you weren't there. he frantically searched for his keys. dammit, why were they missing now of all times. you were always the one who knew where he last left them. he debated whether he would try to find you, run around the city like a lost puppy. he figured that might not be the best option, what if you went home as he was still out looking for you? he tried calling you, flooding you with messages as he paced around the barren apartment. no answer, not even read receipts. as he paced back and forth, he heard a faint tune from the bedroom. did you honestly leave your phone as you ran off in the middle of the night?
come to think of it... this scene looked all too familiar to him.
you creeped back into the apartment as quietly as you can, not wanting to wake kuroo if he was already asleep. as you neared your bedroom, sobs and sniffles became louder.
"tetsu?" you gently called out from the door way. he hadn't even noticed you until then. he whipped his head up, red puffy eyes peered at you with both surprise and relief. he came running to tackle you in an embrace.
"oh thank god you didn't leave me. i'm sorry, i'm so sorry. i didn't mean any of it i was being a jerk. please don't go," he cried into your shoulder, holding you as if you would float away if he let go in the slightest.
hesitantly, you wrapped your arms around him, rubbing his back soothingly. "what's wrong? i'm not going to leave you, silly. i just went out for some air."
although you wanted him to at least be sorry for what he said, it pained you to see him like this.
"i was wrong. i treated you so badly back there. i was just scared. and i know it doesn't make sense but i was afraid because of how much i love you, how i can't imagine my life without you. and i remembered my mom, my parents. i was scared! i thought- i thought i was going to ruin it somehow. and i just did. you were gone and i just- i thought of the worst-"
you gently hushed his rambling, cradling his wet cheeks into the palms of your hands, looking him in the eyes to anchor him down.
"i'm not leaving, darling. calm down okay?"
he hesitated for a but but nodded intently nonetheless, wrapping you in a tight hug again. you stroked his hair while gently swaying your bodies side to side to hush his cries and the hammering in his chest you felt against yours. "i don't appreciate the way you talked to me, but i understood your point. this was exactly what i didn't want happening if you kept bottling your emotions up."
"i'll try to communicate better i promise. i'll make it up to you. i'm sorry and i love you so much."
you pulled away and wiped his tears gently. "let's get ready for bed, we'll talk in the morning hm?"
his lips pursed to an adorable pout he probably didn't know was showing. a beat of silence later, as he turned to the bath you whispered, "i love you, idiot."
