teenage boys on snapchat are so fucking disgusting.
right. can we talk about the fact that the dead poets CARRIED neils coffin to his burial place. i think that kind of experience would alter them completely.
how cruel must it be to have to carry your dead friend to his grave, knowing only a few days before you were celebrating in the cave at his triumphs? that kind of shared experience between the dead poets i think would be a collective trauma only they could understand.
and some commotion for the little one!!!
Newt I really donβt think pushing Thomas against the wall and looking at his lips multiple times means heβs just your friend
I don't trust people who haven't cried over Newt's death
which ends up making people think that iβm not enjoying myself for that i donβt want to be there
this summer is gonna be a hot girl summer !!!
My Roman Empire is the days the Dead Poets shared at Welton before the end of the film. Fooling around and just being normal teenagers. Bc that's what they were; just kids trying to go through life sharing with one another.
I think about Neil's death and it makes my heart ache bc I think it made the rest of the group grow up so much faster. They were children that one day woke up to their best friend in a coffin. Then Charlie got spelled, and Keating got fired. And I can only imagine it downfall from there. But before all of that happened, they were kids playing around, enjoying their youth. They had fun at the Meetings of the Society, they knew and cared for each other. My Roman Empire is the innocence that was ripped away from them without any warning. The poets didn't deserve what happened to them, that adult world they lived in wasn't the one they deserved. They deserved so much more than that.
I think the thing people forget is that the Classicsβ’οΈ werenβt always classics. There was once a kid who picked up a copy of The Catcher In The Rye and told all their friends about this great new book. There was once a group of teens who went to see Shakespeareβs newest comedy and talked about it all the way home. There was once a young Greek child who sat out on the grass every day to listen to the story of The Odyssey because he had to know what happened to his favorite characters. There was once a man who devoured Dracula in a few days because he was so engrossed in this new work of horror.
Stories are not born with yellowed pages and dog ears, they age with us and are always young to those who read them for the first time.

quick reminder that itβs ok to say that you love reading and that reading is your passion without reading 30+ books in a year. if you connect with books and love the power of the written word, youβre bookish. you donβt need to justify your love of reading.
Take it easy. It's your first time living
