At Target this lady told her son he couldn’t have a Wonder Woman doll because “that’s for girls” and then bought her daughter the same one. It got me thinking about how often I see people bar young boys from appreciating girls/women as protagonists and heroes, and my own experience with it as a kid.

They locked eyes from across the room.

One pair like sunlight shining through well-aged rum, the other pair were a layered mix of the gray clinging to the sky after a storm with a luster of frosted pine.

Magnetic tension trapped them, held them unblinking for one, two, three heartbeats, then released.

Tony’s fingers resting on Pepper’s hip squeezed with light pressure and he pulled her half an inch closer to tilt his head to an ear hidden beneath the curtain of fire-licked blonde.

“Stephen’s here.” He whispered and guided her gaze with his own over to him to leave the guests chattering in front of them none the wiser. Deep cerulean regarded him a moment too long and she looked away just as she saw the motion of his head turning in their direction again. Her next inhale was deeper, and Tony noticed it and masked his amusement in an extra long drink of the tart wine he’d been swirling around more than consuming.

“That’s why I used to be jealous, thinking why can’t I be strong like Mikasa and [Levi]. But maybe there’s a reason why we’re all different. They’re for [difficult] times like these, right?”

“I’ll wrap [that scarf around you] as many times as I need to. From now on, as many times as I need to.”

“I can’t let you inherit the Attack Titan. You’re all too important to me. I want you to live long and grow old.”

“You only cling to me because you tricked yourself into believing I was your liege/host!”

As if Mikasa wouldn’t behave any (or very) different if she wasn’t an Ackerman.

As if it were abnormal for a little girl who lost her family twice to grow to care for the little boy who taught her courage and how to live, who’s been with her after all these years.

It’s like saying Levi and Erwin wouldn’t be true friends otherwise. And neither would Kenny and Uri.

As if Mikasa would give up and stop fighting if she were an ordinary girl. 

As if it would be unimaginable for her to join the military, as if there was no reason for her life choices if she had been anything but an Ackerman!

I’m already tired of the posts condemning Stan Lee for things he’s said–especially things he said as a geriatric 90+ year old straight white man. Like god fucking damn this is why I can’t stand Tumblr, Twitter, and hyper “walking on eggshells” culture. The moment someone dies it’s “you can’t be said about this CUZ THEY BAD.”  

I don’t even see how his comments were homophobic. Sure they weren’t open-minded, but nothing was hateful about it. He (along with Ditko) created Peter Parker, and Peter was conceived as a straight, white guy. This is what he said:  

“I think the world has a place for gay superheroes, certainly, but, again, I don’t see any reason to change the sexual proclivities of a character once they’ve been established. I have no problem with creating new, homosexual superheroes. It has nothing to do with being anti-gay, or anti-black, or anti-Latino, or anything like that. Latino characters should stay Latino. The Black Panther should certainly not be Swiss. I just see no reason to change that which has already been established when it’s so easy to add new characters. I say create new characters the way you want to. Hell, I’ll do it myself.”

Like… having a preference a character one created remains the same doesn’t make that person bigoted–especially when that character is their creation. I… I don’t get it. He even said he’d support a non-white, non-straight Spider-Man (as in the mantle/superhero identity), he just preferred Peter Parker to remain the way he created him. And, again, Lee is a product of his time. He made most of these comments when he was super old. He grew up in a totally different era (an era for which, at the time, Lee was considered very progressive).
