REMEMBER WHEN YOU WERE ANGRY AT THE WORLD AS A TEENAGER?? THAT KID WAS RIGHT AND YES IT FUCKING SUCKS AND NO, ITS NOT FAIR, SO YOU HAVE TO KEEP TRYING TO MAKE IT FAIR!!!!
Boneless skinless chicken thighs (they’re more fatty than breasts and less likely to dry out)
Salt
Soy sauce (optional)
Flour
Eggs (like 3-4 or more as you need them)
Bread crumbs (store bought is best but homemade is fine)
Cooking spray
Seasonings you like
Seasonings I like: black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, powdered ginger
Step 1: brining (choose which one you prefer)
Dry brine: put your raw chicken in a tray and cover both sides in a thin layer of salt. Cover and let sit in the fridge for 1-4 hrs
Wet brine: this one is mostly a small amount of soy sauce, just enough to cover most of the chicken in a plastic bag. Add some water or rice wine if you think that would be too much salt. Massage the bag to work it into the chicken. Let sit in the fridge for 1-4 hrs.
Step 2: preheat your oven to 400 F
Step 3: breading
Set up a bowl or tray each of plenty of flour, eggs fully scrambled, and bread crumbs. Mix a bit of your seasoning and a little salt into all of them. Add a bit more as you go if you need it.
Using tongs or clean hands, first coat the chicken thighs in flour, then eggs, then bread crumbs. Place into a greased glass cooking pan and spray the top with a layer of cooking spray
Step 4: baking
Cover the glass pan with your chicken in it with some oven safe foil. Bake for about 30 min, remove the foil, bake for another 10 min. Check to see the internal temp is at least 165 F. If not, bake it a bit longer.
Let it sit for 5-10 min. Serve it with whatever you want but I like mashed potatoes and roasted veggies.
are some people's middle fingers just generally shorter than their other fingers? not bc of like brachydactyly or anything but like how eye colors work yk
The best compliments and insults are both just describing the person. Just describe whatever you can clearly observe about them. The distinction of whether that's an insult or a compliment is whether you're saying it with a pleasant tone, or if you're saying that like it's a bad thing.
Children, who make their observations in an utterly deadpan voice as neutral remarks, are capable of obliviously roasting people because they haven't noticed this.
i know your blog says finnish grammar but honestly I have no idea who else to ask. If I wanted to learn more about Finnish mythology, what's a good place to start? I'm specifically trying to learn about Tellervo if you could help me out there.
Thanks so much :)
Sadly, there's very little sources even in finnish about finnish mythology. The christians spent over a thousand years painstakingly scrubbing out any trace or knowledge of The Old Pagan Habits of the common people, so everything that's left is a fraction of a fraction of a remnant of a trace. Researchers specialising in finnish mythology have occasionally resorted to comparing their sources with the mythologies of other peoples of common ancestry, such as Estonians, to see if there are similarities and which old details and traits were probably shared and original.
The finns didn't have a written language before the 1500s, and the first finns who could read and write in their own native languages were priests, determined to teach christian teachings to the peasants in their own language. Figuring out what old finnish folklore and mythology was really like is a lot like figuring out what dinosaurs looked like. The best we can do is look at the traces that remain and make educated guesses about it.
I can't remember which one of her stories it was even from, but my favourite Minna Canth moment was the one where a poor, long-suffering woman, absolutely ground to mince meat by brutal poverty, asks a priest why does God allow there to be so much suffering in the world. And the priest is like perhaps it is to help guide others into the light, to make them also understand the frailty of life.
And the woman is so stunned by this answer that she snaps out of her utter, shattered despair, and goes "with all due respect, Father, but if somebody needs to witness the suffering of others in order to understand that they should live their life right, then they have earned their place in Hell. With all due respect but that is how I believe."
straight people are so fascinating even when they aren't actively trying to be homophobic. I had a class a few years ago where one assignment was to summarize some eighth century arabic poetry about going out for drinks with the lads before indulging in some gay sex and like half the class came in and said "I'm sorry idk what was happening in this one, they mention having sex with a servant but they also say the servant's a man? where'd the woman come from? I'm so confused." and a few days ago in a shakespeare class I made a comment about how cleopatra and octavius caesar are kind of parallel characters in possessively bartering for mark antony's attention and one of my classmates responded as though I'd been talking about octavia and not caesar, despite the fact that I said "caesar" and "him" multiple times while describing the actions he specifically took. fully incapable of comprehending of anything that's even a little bit gay.
