Size difference…?

So I was given an Akaza figurine by my beloved -when I set him up next to my Kyojuro I noticed that Akaza is definitely in a smaller scale and then my brain immediately conjured this meme…

Size Difference…?

(The amount of effort that went into this joke and now it feels like a ‘you had to be there’ moment… oh well, enjoy this Smol Akaza gazing up in wonder at Big Kyojuro)

Bakugou stans who hate Endeavor and Endeavor stans who hate Bakugou make me laugh.

Because when you get down to it, they both benefit from the same things: in-universe privilege, narrative advantages, and plot manipulation. Their arcs enable each other in a way, they're both abusers being given more exposure and grace than their victims. They're both constantly being propped and accepted by the other characters despite being horrible people.

Criticizing one and not the other is obtuse. They're cut from the same exact cloth, the issues with their characters are nearly identical. And the focus of both their characters contribute to the overarching problem of MHA; not only pandering to abusers but pandering to those born privileged and who knowingly abused that privilege. And neither had to face actual repercussions without being protected by the author.

The only difference between them is in the literal sense; Endeavor is a worse person morally while Bakugou is a worse character narratively.

They both still suck ass

Aaaaa I wish I could make some art to accompany this post, but I can't do so in the moment and I really want to express my "post-epilogue Mob and Tsubomi friendship" thoughts. LONG text below.

They start talking some time after Confession Arc, but their bond actually begins after Tsubomi moves from Seasoning City. She enjoys having someone to tell her how things are going on her hometown, as she didn't keep in touch with all of her school friends and misses how life was in Seasoning. This helped her to get more used to this drastic change on routine.

It was... awkward on the start. Mob had to process that Tsubomi was nothing like the perfect concept that lived on his head, besides the fact that she was upset by people idealizing her (its not nice to know you're part of the problem). Tsubomi on the other hand needed to shut down her slight suspicion built with the experience of bad rejection aftermaths and trust in Mob's intentions. After all, he was her good childhood friend

It doesn't take much for them to get over this, though. Mob comes to care a lot for the real Tsubomi and makes an active effort to know her better. This flawed, human Tsubomi was different, but she was a dear person to him and so it wasn't an issue. Tsubomi is relieved to see Mob's desire to become her friend was genuine (and feels a little bad for doubting). She was glad to get back in touch with him after so such a long time and got impressed with how much he had matured without her noticing. In a way, she also used to see him as that little boy from years ago...

They talk to each other by phone almost daily, speaking of how was their day and sending random stuff. If anything happens, they sure would inform the other.

Mob discovers she likes the yellow cat plush and keeps showing her cats he saw. Tsubomi tries to read some of his favorite manga to understand what he is talking about.

Tsubomi got overwhelmed with how much her school life changed in her new city. She was very happy to not being treated as a deity, but also wasn't used to being a common student. Mob helps her to become adjusted to a normal life and stop wearing the mask she was forced to use in Salt Mid. He understands how weird it is like to be your own vulnerable, true self next to others.

In exchange, Tsubomi's experience proves to be very valuable when Mob gets more attention from his peers and has to face social situations he never participated of before. Parties are stressing. She too recognizes he is still learning to express himself and is happy to see how he opens up with her.

Althought Tsubomi learns to be more authentic over time, she still struggles with demanding too much of herself. She panicked after thinking she didn't do good in her exams, and Mob spends an hour explaining that she isn't special and how its bad to expect she'll be flawless all the time. Besides that, her skills shouldn't define her worth as a person, as she is much more than her results. Tsubomi remembers this.

Mob often asks for Tsubomi's opinion. Sure, Reigen is still his go-to for advice, but some topics are more comfortable to talk with someone his age. Mob really values Tsubomi's confident honesty and her practical, direct solutions. He also feels safe talking with her because he knows that despite being blunt, she wouldn't say anything to hurt him.

They visit each other occasionally when they're on high school! The train rides are quite long, though, so most times it's more practical to invite more people and have a sleepover. Mob and Tsubomi's respective friends know the other pretty well.

Hey, wanna know something kinda sad I realized? Every relationship Endeavor has is based around utility.

I mean of course there’s his family: He only married his wife for her to give him his perfect heir, and up until the present he only ever showed affection to the one most capable of being that heir; emotionally neglecting the rest completely, as we can tell from Touya’s treatment and Natsuo’s recounting of his own childhood. And even now, with his “redemption arc”, it feels like with his realizing his rank won’t satisfy him and the things he did to get it not worth it, that he’s only trying to make up for things for a new purpose; convincing himself he’s a good person who loves his family. (Especially given how much he mopes about his family not liking him.) Not once has it felt, to me anyway, like he’s done something for any of them that wasn’t self-motivated; with his kindest actions being the ones that were only partially self-motivated.

And now, he’s on the opposite side of that with the rest of the family; where it seems they only really interact with him for what he can do for them or their other family members. From the start, Shoto’s only ever professionally worked with him for what such a high ranking hero could do for his own career, and seemed to only really be open to giving him a chance because Rei and Fuyumi seemed open. But they were only really open for his and each other’s sake; which is also why Natsuo humours the idea at all, he was just more open about that fact. And now with recent events; they have put genuine trust in him, but only for Touya’s sake. To his family, who have each only every (at best) been a means to an end for him, he is only ever (at best) a means to an end for them.

And of course this is true for his professional life too, the core of his being for so many years of his life. Of course he has no friends in that professional life; just employees and coworkers who work for/with him out of mutual convenience. And of course, even his long obsessed-over rank is based more on how useful he is to the public than anything else (numerous sources have shown he hardly owns much of it to plain popularity, though even what popularity he does have serves a purpose now). Heck a lot of fans, many of his own defenders even, have theorized that he owes his utility to not being in jail after Dabi revealed all his crimes. The No. 1 hero is too useful in these trying times for the other heroes to arrest him; justice be damned.

And meanwhile everyone who doesn’t have use for him, be they villains actively fighting him or civilians deciding they just don’t need heroes, well they all seem to hate him. In fact I find it interesting that Dabi, the only other Todoroki more concerned with his own feelings and well being than any of his family members, is the only character in the series intentionally trying to hold him accountable for all the things he did.

The man has no one he genuinely unconditionally loves or that unconditionally loves him. Everyone he interacts with, their relationship is directly proportional to how useful they are to him and/or how useful he is to them.

What a sad existence, if one very fitting for his character.

Inosuke probably never saw a problem with demons eating people.

Bears eat people. Boars do too, if given the chance. Lots of things would, even birds and bugs.

He really did just set out to prove he was strong, and when he became part of a pack, he started living by its rules. Uniform pants? Ok. Can't pick fights against other members with swords? Ok. Live with pride? Fine, but what does that even mean?

Eating humans is fine. What really must have finally bothered Inosuke is that it meant humans would get killed, especially members of his pack.

My Hero Academia vs Assassination Classroom: Becoming Teachers

Now I recently saw a post going on about how people dislike Deku becoming a teacher in chapter 430. And another user chalked it up to Westerners' disrespect for teachers vs Japan's great revere for them, plus shipping discourse

And while I feel that those definitely don't help, I do feel that that isn't the balk of why a lot of us hate it. It also reads as one of those elitist takes in fandom where they are talking down to those who don't agree with them

Now I'm a Westerner, and I hate Deku becoming a teacher. It's not because I don't respect teachers, and when it happened in Assassination Classroom I was all for Nagisa Shiota becoming a teacher. I would have preferred to see him and/ or Karma become assassins but I was still satisfied with how it ended. So why is that? Especially because we know Hori was a fan of Assassination Classroom, prototype Bakugou was based on Karma for crying out loud.

Achieved vs Happenstance

A big part of it is framing, everyone in 1A, 1B, and basically everyone else explicitly want to be heroes, or at least something adjacent to it. That's why they are in the hero course, and Izuku Midoriya especially has a one-track mind for heroes until the surprise reveal. He was constantly told no, pick something else, for a decade but was still hyper-focused on being a hero leading up to the show. Nor do we see or otherwise learn that he has other developing interests. There's a ton of fanfics and headcanons of him helping his classmates with school work or even just their quirks, but there's nothing in canon. The only character who does anything like that is Momo Yaoyorozu. The vast majority of 1A and once again especially Izuku Midoriya are only interested in being heroes. Izuku is also the only one who didn't become a hero (until years later) despite the need for them totally going down and them being paid per arrest.

Meanwhile, no one in 3E the end class, chose to be an assassin, Kuro Sensei just decided that he was going to teach that class, and the world needed him dead. A lot of students explicitly have other interests and none of them have a personal interest in being an assassin past killing Kuro Sensei. Yes, Nagisa Shiota is shown throughout to be surprisingly good at assassination work, and he is explicitly given an offer to join the world as an assassin. But when he gets the offer he asks himself do I really want to do this. We also learn via the little girl who suggests the career to him in the first place, that he has been tutoring her. We also get to see how he takes the uniqueness and skills from 3E into his teaching job.

So in short the premise of Assassination Classroom is much better suited to have it's characters enter very different fields to begin with.

Better Focus on Academics

Yes, My Hero Academia takes place largely in a school, but they don't put any focus on the school part. Whenever they're doing something in class it's either big combat test or self-directed training. And in the later seasons, more and more time got taken up by the big-name pro-hero fights. The two teachers we see the most of, both have bad teacher tags on Ao3 and I have seen numerous takedowns of their teaching skills accurately citing the series.

Assassination Classroom however has school and studying as a constant theme throughout the series. We see 1E being taught both standard school stuff, and learning various assassination techniques to achieve their goal. Kuro Sensei also makes it very clear that if they are just going to bank their futures on killing him and winning the money, then he sees no point in staying around for them to do it.

Getting it Regardless vs Earning Respect

One ongoing issue I have with MHA is that I largely got into the series because I thought that it was going to criticize societal issues. Instead, it ended up doing a 180. Now this mostly applies to the pro-hero worship, largely because once again there is barely any time dedicated to the actual academic part of the show. But with both the teachers and pro heroes their failures and shit behaviours aren't treated as reasons to lose respect, making any respect for them empty. This also leans into the very real issue of roles that come with unconditional respect, will attract people who will abuse it.

Meanwhile, 3E came into the show without this innate revere for teachers, because their past teachers especially in their school have actively screwed them over at every turn. Karma is even elated at the idea of killing a teacher after his last one betrayed him. Nagisa Shiota was being very blatantly abused at home, and Kuro Sensei is the first teacher to stand up for him. The teachers of 3E have to earn the students' trust and respect. When Bitch Sensei treats them like shit when she first joins, the students return the favour, she has to apologize for her poor behaviour for the class to give her a second chance. So when it ends with the students having a deep connection to their teachers and a renewed appreciation for school it's because that respect was fucking earned. Also, the principal who created this system set up 3E to be abused and sabotaged them every chance he got, got fired for his shit leadership aka actions have consequences. They also didn't feel the need to excuse the bullies shit behaviour either

So in one setting, we have authority figures constantly being shit but being revered anyway. And the other, where the respect has been lost and needs to be earned back, thus the respect they get has a much stronger foundation.

Side notes

Deku sucks at explaining, I've said it both on my main and AU blog, but Deku is horrible at explaining. One of the main aspects of teaching, and he sucks at it because he overcomplicates and goes off on tangents, plus mumbling. If it was just his thought process, it would be a mildly annoying but harmless habit, but he does it when talking to people

Also, Assassination Classroom has a way less bloated cast, allowing us to actually get closer to the characters.

✴Muichiro and Yuichiro are traitors....✴

✴Muichiro And Yuichiro Are Traitors....✴

☾I finally began the multi-chaptered fanfic based off of my AU here.☀

Summary:

Kokushibo stumbles upon Muichiro and Yuichiro in the midst of a desperate struggle-one battling a demon with little but his bare hands, and the other on the brink of death. Kokushibo impressed by Muichiro's skills, and recognizing them as his descendants, saves them, and they perceive him as their saviour. Initially contemplating turning them into demons, Kokushibo convinces them that embracing demonic nature is superior to remaining human. Yuichiro, enticed by the idea of becoming powerful enough to protect his brother, readily falls for the deception. However, Muzan seizes an opportunity. He will only allow Kokushibo to turn them into demons unless they infiltrate the Demon Slayer Corps and reveal there secrets and where the Ubuyashiki family is hiding. As they infiltrate the corps and become the newest Hashiras, Muichiro excelling in ‘Moon Breathing’ and Yuichiro adapting with his own breathing style “Eclipse Breathing” and sabotage missions. Muichiro begins to feel torn between loyalty to Kokushibo and newfound friendships with the other slayers, and grapples with a moral dilemma as he uncovers the truth that had been hidden from him, all the while the threat of being revealed as traitors looms closer.

Okay the Timid Muzan headcanons au but maybe the reason why Akaza hated Muzan's timid personality is because everything about him reminds Akaza of his late biological father? Whether he suddenly remembers or not, and becomes more loyal or kinder to Muzan if he does suddenly remember or choose to stay away, you can choose!

Could I get some headcanons for that? Thanks in advance! ^^ 💕

Akaza's Thoughts on Timid! Muzan (Who Reminds Him of His Late Father) Headcannons:

Wordcount: 391 words

THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR THE MANGA!

Okay The Timid Muzan Headcanons Au But Maybe The Reason Why Akaza Hated Muzan's Timid Personality Is
Okay The Timid Muzan Headcanons Au But Maybe The Reason Why Akaza Hated Muzan's Timid Personality Is

While Akaza doesn't remember his past (as he does when fighting Tanjirou later in the manga), he does remember certain feelings. When he looks at Muzan, a sense of familiarity washes over him. He hates the fact that he feels as if he's seen this scene before, he just can't remember why or when.

Akaza might limit his time with Muzan at first, only seeing him if he was requested, but after some time of Muzan breaking down his walls with his kind exterior and need for protection, Akaza will eventually succumb to the tranquility the other Upper Moons have been experiencing. He'll stick more to Muzan's side, seeing if there's anything he can do to help ease Muzan's mind and thoughts.

Akaza's father was sick and wanted Akaza to live an honest life, one where he wouldn't steal, even if he stole so Akaza could pay for his medicine. Akaza feels a sense of nostalgia from Muzan's personality and actions because of the kindness he shows, just like his late father did. Muzan wishes nothing but the best for the Upper Moons and Muzan will try and put his fear aside to protect his loyal followers if one or more Upper Moons find themselves in great trouble.

Muzan uses his strength to protect Akaza and the Upper Moons like they're his children, so Akaza learns to respect Muzan for this. Muzan wishes to use his powers to protect those just as how Akaza's father tried to protect him from the consequences of stealing.

Akaza used to get beaten as punishment for stealing, but his loyalty to his father caused him to keep on stealing in hopes he could help his dad by buying medicine. Because of Akaza's loyalty to his father, Muzan's goal to protect the Upper Moons just as Akaza's father wished to protect him is what earns his loyalty.

Akaza will stick around Muzan more, personally volunteer to complete missions and watch out for Muzan if there's any danger nearby. He won't speak kind words to Muzan, he feels that insulting to Muzan (and his own) strength, like he's belittling him, so he uses his strength and abilities to protect Muzan and go on missions to show his gratitude.

Okay The Timid Muzan Headcanons Au But Maybe The Reason Why Akaza Hated Muzan's Timid Personality Is

Thank you for requesting! I do hope this is what you mean, it's a little hard to write Akaza's thoughts on Muzan when Muzan is supposed to be a merciless demon, along with how Akaza doesn't canonly remember his past until fighting Tanjirou.
