Bakugou stans who hate Endeavor and Endeavor stans who hate Bakugou make me laugh.
Because when you get down to it, they both benefit from the same things: in-universe privilege, narrative advantages, and plot manipulation. Their arcs enable each other in a way, they're both abusers being given more exposure and grace than their victims. They're both constantly being propped and accepted by the other characters despite being horrible people.
Criticizing one and not the other is obtuse. They're cut from the same exact cloth, the issues with their characters are nearly identical. And the focus of both their characters contribute to the overarching problem of MHA; not only pandering to abusers but pandering to those born privileged and who knowingly abused that privilege. And neither had to face actual repercussions without being protected by the author.
The only difference between them is in the literal sense; Endeavor is a worse person morally while Bakugou is a worse character narratively.
They both still suck ass
Part of why I love Muzan in KnY is because I relate to him. While his objective actions in the story are obviously evil, I think heβs a lot more sympathetic than the writers want him to be. This essay explores Muzanβs backstory, his treatment by the narrative, and my feelings toward the use of his character. As such, it contains MAJOR MANGA SPOILERS. THIS IS YOUR WARNING. This piece is not trying to βcancelβ KnY for ableism or to say anything about the views of the mangaka/anime screenwriters/etc. I enjoyed KnY, and if youβre thinking about giving it a shot, I do recommend it. This is just a self-reflective piece that I wrote to process my own experiences with chronic illnesses in my own life and analyze the nuances of a piece of media that I love.

it feels so good to know that a lot of people either still hate bkg and/or hate how his redemption was written and dont just suck up to his mediocre writing https://x.com/blar_wolf/status/1915288020376310177?s=46
I will be honest I haven't touched Twitter in a while, but it is finally good to see people waking up and critiquing bakugo's character in masses. From the time I used to be on Twitter, there were a few that would call out Bakugo and his horribly written character arc, but most of it was silenced by bakugo stans and the overwhelming support his character continously received.
I do hope that this behaviour continues and people actually critique mha as a whole based on writing quality of horikoshi and not on fandom. Yes, I believe that the fandom should be criticised for their actions but a lot of people have resorted to defending mha by saying that the show is good but the fandom is bad which is false in my opinion since there are unpleasant things in both the story and fandom!
Strange little family πΏπ¦
I also need yall to know that Tetsutetsu canonically accompanies his female classmates when they go out at night, even if they're only traveling a short distance. Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu the #1 protector of women, god fuckin bless.
Time to shit on Bakugou
I've seen so many takes of "oh Endeavor is meant to be a parallel showing what Bakugou could have become if he never improved"
Where once again the actions show he has not fucking changed.
Also, why wouldn't he want to be like Endeavor? The guy by the end of the series retired as the number 1 hero, is fucking rich, tons of support, including the now HPSC president Hawks, Deku indirectly calls Natsuo unkind for not forgiving him, Rei is seen pushing his electric wheelchair even with three young able-bodied heroes right fucking there. Everyone who criticizes either of them is always casted as wrong end of story
Shoto is for some reason his friend, just like Deku and the Bakusquad, despite the fact that he treats all of them like shit. And the only punishments he ever get is either shared despite the other person not doing shit to deserve it (He forced Deku to fight him, and Shoto was literally being attacked by Isasa), or oh he's not the number one hero because he's just that mean to the press
The narrative never lined up with Bakugo, in that nobody ever responded to him naturally as their characters should have.
How they should have responded based on their own personalities and beliefs.
Stain, Dabi, Aizawa, kirishima, Mina, Iida, Shoto or even ochako.
All of them should have had big issues throughout the series with Bakugo for many reasons.
And even if one ignores all of this and focuses strictly on Bakugo, the delivery on his personal "growth" never really culminated in much real change either.
Because the final chapter shows he's still in the same place as he was during the provisional license exam, his attitude not being great with the civilians he's saving/protecting.
He was failed in the exam for this attitude and skated by through the make-up test.
(By being able to calmly talk to a single kid once I guess?)
Then nearly a decade later, he's still doing the same thing! π
It's kind of ridiculous when you look at all of it, like: "Where were we going with this??"
love when this happened
