Ironically, Aizawa's expulsions would make sense if UA wasn't a Japanese school. While dropouts, transfers, and kicking students out of the Hero course for not meeting standards would legitimately be a thing, in fact, some schools would probably want to have a student who made into the Hero Course but have other issues at hand. The problem is that since UA is in Japan and is a Japanese school, the cultural context about expulsions and the black mark is fundamentally a serious liability and business in Japan compared to the west. Having a black mark in Japan is enough to prevent someone from getting a normal job and MHA Japan would not have enough time to develop away from this mentality, thus causing more problems down the line.
The manner in which Aizawa gives his students black marks instead of basic transfers to the General Course, since full expulsion from UA would be too extreme given that a 2-A does exist in canon, would mean that the moment that these black marked students graduate, they would not get basic jobs even if they graduated from the top school in Japan. There is a difference between changing courses of student and being given a black mark and while both could happen, getting a black mark is a gunshot wound to the person being kicked down the steps. Aizawa ironically is creating more villains and vigilantes on the streets by his actions and those students are very likely to die due to societal pressures and being forced into poverty. It would be an extremely minority that could have back-up plans and money to survive a black mark in Japan.
And let's not get onto Stain as he's just crazy. He would support Aizawa's expulsion of students on the basis of weeding out the weak heroes early. He just forgot that having a black mark is a death sentence in Japan.
See this is why I just don’t get the black mark thing. Like unless Aizawa is meant to be a big bad villain it makes no sense. Him temporarily expelling students to shove them into Gen Ed for a bit is much more reasonable if they need a reality check and fits his personality more. Still a bastard but not some jackass villain. And then he softens as he learns he made the wrong assumptions becoming a better teacher! See?! Way better. Instead we get this.
Also he can scare them with the idea of a black mark but not actually give them one. Fits more to with his logical ruse shit.
There’s a reason I drop canon Aizawa and it’s cause his shit makes no sense.
Stain would approve. Hes a bitch. I really do not like him.
I wasn't expecting this kind of KIBUTSUJI MUZAN:
Going back to review MHA, I don't really understand the participation of at least 20 teenagers in the cast if they're not going to do anything
I mean, Aoyama is justifiable as well as Uraraka, Kirishima, Iida and Yaoyorozu
The rest are like they're in the background and suddenly in the last arc everyone perfectly understands the protagonist and his motivations, when at most they interacted with him at USJ, it feels like Hori read "Class 1-A as a Family" in AO3 and continued the story from there.
Bakugo has continuity and importance until he is kidnapped and from there he seems like an extra character (because he has no evolution, the mini-endeavour of the group)
Horikoshi, you should have made AFO take out his quirk, because seriously, it is incomprehensible what he is doing here
I just realized something about BNHA that I'm sure nobody on here talked about yet.
The show suffers from a protagonist centered morality.
Izuku or to a lesser extent those that're on the side of the heroes, are always seen as in the right and that anything going against that is automatically in the wrong and should be called out. Even if the other side makes a good point about something.
Take Eri and the reporters for example. The reporters raise good points about Bakugou and how irresponsible UA is, but are told "na nuh!" By Aizawa and it just ends at that.
Then Eri... She literally went from one place who used her power to another. It literally falls into "It's okay if WE do it!" even though this is supposed to be a story meant to point out the flaws in society but gets onto anyone who dares try to say anything bad about it!
God even after all this time BNHA still makes my blood boil!!
People need to talk about this more.
Good and bad in MHA has less to do with morality and more to do with who are the heroes and who are the villains. Which could have been a GREAT setup, only for Horikoshi to never talk about it.
Any time ANYONE has a point, they are immediately discredited or brushed aside. Like Izuku dismissing what Dabi said by defending Endeavor as his mentor. For this to come from our protagonist of all people that late in the game? It not only ignores something blatantly being called out, it also makes our protagonist look worse. Instead of addressing and amending the propaganda he set up, Horikoshi repeatedly reinforces it for some reason.
(This is a repeated problem with Izuku especially. He's such a blank prop that never got the development he deserves that any critiques about the world around him go right over his head. It's actually bittersweet that in the epilogue he is starting to come to a realization because no it's too late)
I've talked many times about how the LOV regressed into irredeemable monsters to make their suffering and the points they made meaningless. Spinner suffered from this the worst. He was the member of the LOV who didn't crave destruction and wanted to change things, only to forgo all of that in the Final War.
To watch all this happen when I used to love MHA is just so disappointing
shipping renkaza fucking sucks because you either get people who hate real enemies to lovers and call it toxic or pr*ship because they actually are enemies who want to kill each other instead of friends who bicker sometimes (these people are the weakest link and will not survive the winter)
or you get people who do ship it but only in the gooner dumbing-it-down-to-hardcore-porn way where they romanticize and get off to abuse and r*pe (these people are just gross sick individuals and i hope they go extinct)
and the few people who do see the emotional depth in the homoerotic minutes renkaza spent together and the potential in that for top tier doomed yaoi are few and far in between and i rarely find good fics that aren't just insanely ooc porn
Hi,not sure if I ever mentioned this but...not a fan how Monoma acts towards A1. Why? Bc I don't get it.
In my fics I tend to make B1 be seen as the lesser one to justify the animosity Monoma feels.
But canon...B1 is not looked down, I think maybe that is general eds.
"he hates A1 bc of bk" it's a justification I saw and could have worked but he also ...calls Izu arrogant, Izu the boy who clearly thinks he is worthless...is arrogant.
Why Monoma even has a beef with A1 in the first place? Just to be a mouthpiece for BK? Maybe but why take out on the others? Too many questions and no answer since Hori admits he created Monoma thinking on an annoying person he met and he doesn't like Monoma (bold claim here Hori) my point is...I don't think it makes sense Monoma have a issue with the students of A1.
If he was beffing with Aizawa and BK only. Yes, that would make sense.
But the rest? No. And I say this as a person who detest A1 now.
I don't care either way because Monoma is only mildly antagonistic so it isn't a huge deal for me, but I'll attempt to explain some of his behavior:
1A does nothing to call Bakugou out. They allow, and even enable in some cases, his behavior. This even includes Izuku, as (I believe) he even defended Bakugou against something Monoma said once (I can't remember if it was to his face or not)
After the USJ, Bakugou acted like he was better than the other students because he easily beat real villains. This was the rest of the school's first introduction to 1A. So Monoma, incorrectly, assumed that 1A shared Bakugou's behavior. Dumb on his part, but again, 1A didn't really condemn his behavior so they didn't help their cases there either
1A is, rightfully, annoyed with Monoma's behavior, but is fine with Bakugou's. Most of the people who condemn Monoma are Bakugou's friends (Kirishima and Sero mainly). This also replicates his childhood. He was treated differently for his quirk while people like Bakugou were praised. So I can see why he continues to antagonize 1A even if I don't agree with it
It really comes down to 1A as a whole being bystanders and hypocrites, which we know they are. They allow and defend Bakugou's behavior, even though he's been awful to them and other people. I can't blame Monoma for having a distaste for them, even if he does go too far with it.
(Also, it wasn't just Monoma who thought like this. The rest of UA resented 1A too)
Monoma's an asshole, but that's not really a problem for me. Because a) he's called out and condemned for it and b) it's really not that serious. He's not malicious or cruel, he's just an overzealous jerk
I 'liked' Endeavor's character when he was supposed to be hated, toxic family members are everywhere and I thought this was a sign the series was going to call guys like him out, people who use tradition to enable/ justify abuse. Instead, it became dedicated to kissing his ass. There's also zero self-awareness in this and how pathetic that manchild is
One question I'm still trying to figure out is how the fuck does he change?
He's still throwing himself a pity party, but because he can no longer whine about the number one spot (which is literally common knowledge to be more about image than action, and Endeavor has never put any effort into that), it's now "oh no I ruined my relationship with my family with my constant abuse and neglect, did I mention one of my kids literally died a decade ago, from this,"
Now only focusing on what he does after this realization, how does he try to fix this? He doesn't spend time with the one kid (Fuyumi) who for some fucking reason wants a relationship with him. Instead, he harasses her into giving him his masterpiece's phone number. Which he then uses to call him in the middle of class, this was in regular school hours, not some bonus class or club, literally standard school hours. His employees are seen wondering what he is doing calling Shoto in the middle of class.
He openly admits he only offered the work study to Shoto's friends so he would come (so manipulating his son), and that he's only going to focus on that kid. Him understanding Deku's word vomit isn't Endeavor being smart, it's Deku being shit at explaining anything, and someone barely managing to get it.
Oh and he totally respects Natsuo's feelings when he freezes when his middle child is in immediate danger due to their relation, only to immediately hug him after dumping that excuse on him, with zero consent from Natsuo. So life in danger, consent & feelings suddenly matter to him, life not in danger anymore, but still in a highly traumatic moment, consent & feelings no longer mean shit, way to go Endeavor 10/10
Endeavor is also 45-46 Dabi is 23-24. 45-23= Endeavor was 22 when Touya was born. Reminder he sought out the Himura's after he gave up at beating All Might, Touya's fire didn't inspire him, he didn't get the idea after marrying Rei, this successor plan came first. Pregnancy takes an average of 40 weeks (you can even cut a bit to make Touya a premie), even if Endeavor somehow managed to find an ice quirk based family the day he gave up on beating All Might, married Rei, and got her pregnant all in the same day (like a fucking sim), that would still mean he gave up at 21! This man gave up at 21, at the latest! How is that anything but pathetic!
He shouldn't be a role model he should be mocked.
i love one (1) man
today i woke up to Tumblr suggesting to me a blog where proshippers find each other?? and it found me bc they were asking for "the arcana proshippers"
so to get it out of the way, if you're a proshipper or support proshipping block me and know i think it's disgusting and wrong
if you don't know what proshipping is, basically it's thinking that no ship can be wrong or problematic bc it's fiction so no one gets hurt.
