Sometimes it's like... did you even watch the episode? In Sam's case he really wasn't given an option- he's a man, has had some training, killed a White Walker before, and therefore absolutely must be out in the battle. If you'd paid attention to Edd's line as Sam shows up into formation, he says, "Oh for fuck's sake, you took your time," implying that Sam was supposed to be there. He wasn't given a choice. If he had, he'd gladly would have been in the crypts- Sam's a self-actualized coward. So yeah, sucks that Edd died while protecting him, but the toxic masculinity of Westerosi society put Sam there, not himself.
I can’t believe that people are still trying to call Sansa useless or cowardly for going to the crypts. When in fact what she was being was unselfish and smart.
Noncombatants being on the battlefield is cute, and all ‘go warrior! You’re so brave!’…. up until the point that you realize that the actual combatants are therefore going to have to ignore their own safety to protect these noncombatants. Especially if these noncombatants are Important People, and the combatants have a duty to see them safe.
The reason that Jorah got killed? Was because Dany, a noncombatant without her dragon, was on the battlefield. Full stop. He literally took the blow that killed him by being in front of her. Had she not been there, his chances of surviving would have exponentially increased. Now obviously she didn’t fall off her dragon on purpose. But still. The point remains.
Sansa realized that she would be putting people in danger if she stayed on the battlefield, and so she put her selfish wishes to be there for her people aside and went down to a place where she thought she would be safer and no one would have to defend her.
And when it became necessary, she was even ready to defend herself, if need be.
So just leave her alone, she’s been through enough.

Atena Farghadani is a 28-year-old Iranian artist. She was recently sentenced to 12 years and 9 months in prison for drawing a cartoon.
This cartoon, that she posted on her Facebook page last year, depicts members of the Iranian parliament as animals. It was drawn in protest of new legislature in Iran that will restrict access to contraception and criminalise voluntary sterilisation. Atena’s charges include ‘spreading propaganda against the system’ and ‘insulting members of parliament through paintings’.
Last August, 12 members of the elite Revolutionary Guard came to Atena’s house, blindfolded her and took her to the infamous Evin Prison in Tehran. According to Amnesty International:
“While in prison last year, Atena flattened paper cups to use them as a surface to paint on. When the prison guards realised what she had been doing, they confiscated her paintings and stopped giving her paper cups. When Atena found some cups in the bathroom, she smuggled them into her cell. Soon after, she was beaten by prison guards, when she refused to strip naked for a full body search. Atena says that they knew about her taking the cups because they had installed cameras in the toilet and bathroom facilities – cameras detainees had been told were not operating.”
She was released in November and gave media interviews and posted a video on YouTube detailing her beatings, constant interrogations and humiliating body searches. She was then rearrested possibly in retaliation for speaking out and has been imprisoned ever since. In January, Atena went on a hunger strike to protest the horrible prison conditions. Her health suffered dramatically, and after losing consciousness and suffering a heart attack in February, she was forced to eat again.
The quote used in the comic is taken from the speech Atena gave at her trial. It has been translated into English by the Free Atena Facebook page. You can read the whole thing here.
Time is now against her, she has just two weeks to lodge an appeal. Michael Cavna, comic journalist for The Washington Post, has launched a campaign appealing to artists to help bring awareness to Atena’s case by creating their own artwork in support of Atena and using the hashtag#Draw4Atena. Can a bunch of artists and a hashtag really make a difference and put pressure on the Iranian Government to release Atena? Probably not. But just remember that Atena is currently in prison enduring horrible conditions, and if her appeal isn’t successful, she will be there for another twelve years. FOR DRAWING A CARTOON AND POSTING IT ON FACEBOOK. Don’t we owe it to her to at least try?
Alot worse actually happens out there.. once Being a soldier (which turned me into an activist) showed me..
Signal boost.

Kuroo and Kenma have been in this weird sort of in-between of Dating/Not-Dating. They act like a couple, but never really talked about it or made it “official.” After watching Kruoo struggle to answer his co-worker’s simple question of “Oh, is this your boyfriend?” Kenma thinks that this has gone on long enough.
“Thank you both for coming here, I hope the journey wasn’t too much of a hassle.”
“Kenma, I practically live here and you literally bought Hinata a first-class ticket to Tokyo for this. What is going on?”
“Ah yes, the agenda for today’s meeting is to discuss your promotions.”
“Cool! Not really sure how I can get a promotion when I don’t even work for you, but sounds fun!”
“Yes, that enthusiasm is exactly how you earned this promotion.” Kenma pulls out what looks like name plaques from his hoodie. “Congratulations, Hinata, you’ve been promoted to the position of my Best Friend.” Kenma hands him the first plaque, neatly inscribed with “Hinata Shoyo - Best Friend” on it.
“YES!”
“Hey! I thought I was your best friend!”
“You had a good run, Kuro. Truly you have been the best best friend I could have ever asked for. You’ve been so good, infact, that you earned you own promotion, should you choose to accept.” Kenma slides the remaining plaque over to Kuroo, the inscription of “Kuroo Tetsuro - Fiancé” making Kuroo’s mouth drop.
“Now, I realise we’re skipping a few steps, but I figured this would make up for the delay of a promotion. Do you accept?”
Kuroo is a sobbing mess, nodding his head ‘yes’ and not noticing that Hinata had taken out a camera to snap photos.
“Great, well with that promotion comes this,” Kenma says with a smile and a few tears in his eyes as he places an open ring box on the kotatsu. “And of course there is a stipulation that you will move in full time.”
Kuroo laughs through his tears, “I think I can manage that.”
“Great. I love you.”
“Love you, too.”
