„Shauna’s character was butchered (haha) this season.“ „She’s cartoonishly evil.“ „Her actions make no sense.“ „No depth“
LOUD AND WRONG PEOPLE !!!
This is all I’ve been seeing on TikTok about season 3 and let’s be honest, TikTok yj fans are the worst but this is plain wrong.
Now, not saying you have to „defend“ Shauna in this season (no one asked u to, babe) but there was still depth to her character in season 3.
I was thrilled to see Shaunas character arc taking a different direction. Season 2 was all tragic and more or less reasonable but this is over now. Shauna is hurt, traumatized and all this hurt turned to anger. She shut herself of from the group but then she still wants power over them, some kind of thing she can be in control of. Because that’s a whole thing for her especially in the adult-timeline. When she gets that little bit of power with Melissa she thrives on it and gets greedy.
When for some reason the other girls don’t really try to stand up to her she lets the power get to her. That’s a classic trope. Starting with something small and getting away with it, to being in charge of the whole group. Not random pretty reasonable timeline.
Grief -> Anger -> Control and Power as an outlet for Anger -> Euphoria ->(Hybris)
That’s where we get the (for me world changing) line about Shauna having fun in the wilderness.
I definitely don’t think this is unreasonable and I strongly dislike people claiming this was bad writing.
this fandom is so black and white when it comes to characterization, nobody realizes it’s a balance and just runs with one thing. Either they characterize laura lee as a total saint as if the whole reason she died wasn’t because she was testing her own faith, or mischaracterize her that she’d be the first in line for the cannibalism just because she saw god in lottie.
don’t get me started on people who think jackie would support shauna as the antler queen because that’s her best friend who she’s in love with when she was visibly disgusted by shauna at doomcoming simply for having a knife on travis’s throat
shaunamari.. marishauna if you will.. enemies to lovers soon . I'm a believer

if i had a nickel for everytime my friends got (reasonably) inhumanly mad at me because oops i went offline for an entire month i’d have uhm… i would probably be able to afford the copyrights of the show i’m referencing that from
you know who you are, and you should know you’re not alone <3 im just really bad at letting people know i exist as well as really bad at socialising.
worlds bitchiest afterlife
@justinezbrain
If I had a nickel for every time a teen girl wilderness survival show had a homoerotically charged scene where one girl said “I’ll fucking kill you” while another was pinned to a rock/tree, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot. BUT HOW IN THE FUCK DID IT HAPPEN TWICE
(These pics are not mine)
i need to know how long the melissa things been planned because i just rewatched the last part of season 2 and she was always next to shauna. like just there but never interacting and plenty of us noticed at the time. that is Literally why the crackship started as far as i remember (tho it wasnt popular. like it was a joke in the moment that just disappeared again) because they literally never spoke bar one comment (which was melissa making a dig at shauna btw) but they were always near each other and oh wouldn't it be funny if !! and like now im like... holy shit maybe that wasnt a coincidence maybe that was an actual character choice.
i swear we're all just so used to not getting explicitly queer storylines and everything just being Implied that we thought we were reading into something too much. melissa has been drawn to shauna for a long time and we made it all a joke because how could it be anything more than that. they wouldn't make (arguably) the main character explicitly queer ?? And in doing so basically make her being in love with her best friend canon ?? but they did. they rly did that.
