Post #18 or 19 - Get Sans Right!

okay, so as I was sketching out the next page of the comic, I had to stop! I wanted to really get a handle on Sans so I have less work to do when I'm drawing the finished draft—sure, that's part of it. Another part of it was this strong urge to just get him right for his sake. Like, really right.

So how the heck am I supposed to do that?

I went right down to the bare bones (ha!). I didn't want to get too influenced by all the very impressive fan art out there, and there's just too much to count on this very website, so I used the original Sans sprite as a reference (I realize my version appears as if his arms were cut at the elbows. We'll just silently ignore that...). I then drew a real skeleton because my brain has a hard time with properly tying the two together. I suppose what I mean is, I try to imagine what the monsters of the Underground would look like in our real world, and also with a more humanoid appearance, so when I see Sans I naturally compare him to what is inside our meat suit despite him being a cartoon who should have the freedom to flourish in his art style. Its hard, I'll tell ya that! But I made an attempt here to try something that aligns more with what I want for the comic.

Maybe this will be the final look? I love to see this version of Sans having a more urban fashion sense, aggressive personality, and a bad drug problem that leaks into all aspects of his life. I'm definitely pulling from the images I included in this post, and honestly? I think we need more poverty polish applied to his bones.

I kind of want to make a similar character sheet for more of the UT cast. All in due time...

Post #8 - Pink Elephants

This post is about two days late, but I have a good excuse for that; work, work, work. Now that I'm on a bit of a holiday break I can see about returning to daily posts, or at least getting the next scene out in a timely manner.

Beyond work holding me up, I binged the latest season of The Handmaid’s Tale yesterday. I wanted to say that it could serve as a great resource for this story, but I don't want this fanfic to be anywhere near as hopeless as that show. I love it, but its total misery porn, and a person can only handle so much misery before it starts to effect their mental health. So Fawn will take some inspiration from the mentioned while following a more heartening tone.

We have the concept for scene four above. Papyrus will come downstairs with his shirt buttoned, lace up his boots, and remind Sans not to be late for his million side jobs (or complain about something equivalent depending on the AU). He’ll leave, and Sans will continue with his slacking off. The television will be on, we get a shot of a ballerina taking a bow, as Sans snorts, smokes, or injects Dust in somewhere or another. 

All of the finer details of this scene will really depend on the AU we choose. I didn't think it would be such a hindrance, but its turning out to be one. What I do know is that Sans drug addiction is fundamental to the story just like Papyrus’ pedophilia, so it honestly doesn't matter what we ultimately settle with. Sans will still be a junky. 

I checked on my stats today to find I now have over 20 followers! It was just last week that I was celebrating 10. I want to thank everyone for sticking through with this so far. I hope to keep it up until the very end of the project.

This is a super spur of the moment post, but as I go through the rewrites, I felt compelled to sketch a few of the monster prostitutes that briefly appear in chapter two. Why? I think because I'm spiraling.

Thanks so much for the encouraging words, and it did! I’m bursting with marketing ideas, and it’s honestly exciting, if not a bit scary. There’s a bunch of business shit I started this year, including the book I’m writing—which I have some interesting news about, so why not use this response to address it.

I’ve been weighing the pros and cons of connecting my author pen name to this account (or the fanfic account). The book will be out for ARC in July (if I stick to schedule) and published by late August. It will have a lot of the same elements I typically write about; a ton of body horror, monster men, and all the dramatic feels. Great, cool, but I’m aware that a lot of people who read fanfiction might not be interested in original fiction especially from a no name debut author. I was this way for a while until I rediscovered my love for book stores, found out there was a whole flipping genre of novels that had all the messed up stuff I like—told primarily by indie authors, and quickly became a book hoarder.

I say all that because I’m questioning if it would be worth it to “expose” my very spicy fanfiction to any future readers if those who enjoy the fanfics aren’t exactly the same audience who will enjoy my novels. Again, I’m using a pen name, and if the business goes well, I’ll be self employed, so I don’t really care too much about my personal life getting thrown in the mix. I guess I’m worried about not being taken seriously as an author, or who knows?

Bah! This is becoming a personal blog! I haven’t even posted the next page of Fawn, yet I’m doing a whole lotta venting. I might just share the novel regardless. I will need a few beta readers in June, so maybe Tumblr is a good place to find some?

when is a new chapter of immature interest coming out??

Good question! I’m attempting to have all last ten chapters written before I post the next one, but I might release a few a little earlier just to knock em out of the way.

So as of right now? I’m not sure. 😅

Post #23 - Fawn's Cover

The month of June has passed and don't I just feel exhausted. I scheduled way more traveling than I could realistically handle, so lesson learned. Now that I'm back home, it's time to get to work. I want July to be a month of art—yes! A month to put this first chapter to rest, and who knows, maybe I'll decide to just make this a comic and screw the fanfic portion altogether.

I'm just a bit burned out from writing at the moment.

That said, this cover is very much inspired by flash punky, emotional, heavy-feels types of art. Now is Fawn gonna be any of that? Shit, I don't know, but I had a ton of fun drawing it so here we are.

I decided to end Chapter 1 on the previous post so the story doesn't feel rushed. That means we begin drawing the final drafts today, so yay! I get to find a consistent art style that I'll be forced to stick with. I will also be editing some of the text in order to better weave a coherent narrative as the enormous gaps of time between some posts have made it difficult to follow exactly what the heck is going on. The updated pages will be in chunks of five to make readability more seamless, and once we get up to page 20, we'll do the long scrolling format.

If this comic didn't revolve around pedophilia I would consider just uploading to Webtoons, but alas, it'd quickly get the boot.

Post #9 - Baby Animals or Little Girls?

As I am preparing to sketch out the last scene for chapter one, I have been reading through highlight chapters in Lugubriosity. This chapter had particularly caught my eye since we get a bit more insight on Papyrus’ crimes. Only Papyrus didn't abusing several children alone, he had help. 

Which brings me to one question; how involved was Undyne really? 

I’d like to imagine someone who doesn't already have pedophilic tendencies wouldn't dare to help in such horrendous crimes regardless if they wanted to impress their emotionally abusive mother. In other words, Undyne was likely a pedophile as well, perhaps one who didn't have a strict child attraction. Should this be explored more in Fawn? It isn't typical for females to develop such a paraphilia, and even less likely for them to act on them, but then again, working with Papyrus had provided her with plenty of opportunities to offend. 

Perhaps Undyne isn't a pedophile but just a heartless sociopath with no care for the well being of children—only she's depicted as showing guilt in this chapter. 

Ah, musings, musings. 

Anyway, I thought I’d show some of the more animal victims of the two. We have Hunny and two unnamed girls. Should they also be present in Fawn, or should Papyrus have only one victim and that being Frisk? Maybe Frisk isn’t his first, but rather the one that he fell in love with? Maybe Papyrus and Undyne developed their friendship through their lust of little girls? Maybe, just maybe.
