No offense to you Gozu. I'm sure you do your utmost in your assigned area. But the Future Foundation as a whole looks like it suffers from the same messed-up culture that permeated Hope's Peak. People being put into high positions of power on the flimsy basis that they're former Ultimates. Ando for example being put in charge of food procurement in a post-Apocalyptic world. Just being a talented confectioner doesn't qualify her for such a vital role.
I do understand your concerns, however, Ruruka has proven to be a capable baker no matter what one may think of her. And thus, she has since been useful to the Foundation.
And of course, during such limited times, those who were originally alumni or took part in Hope's Peak come to together to stop Ultimate Despair from spreading across the land. For the future of not only ourselves, but the civilians as well.
Indeed. Though lately we have been falling apart at the seams.
I can only offer my condolences and do my part...
Thank you, Gozu. Your reassurance is appreciated and we are rather grateful.
Yeah.....
*sigh....* Excuse me...I'm gonna go to the bathroom...
I think I may just pace around, move my feet and stuff...
*Hina and Hiro leave the room...*
*sigh* .........'Makoto....'
my mood whenever a new trial starts
The "You're all secretly war criminals" thing is a pretty epic twist the first time playing. But like...it's an absolute mess when you really think about the sheer number of logistical issues Junko should have faced if we go with the fandom idea that "brainwashing was just a retcon" and that she successfully manipulated each of them with pure charisma. To begin with, people severely underestimate how much work it would actually take to turn a relatively normal (if a little eccentric in the case of Class 77) person into a monster on the level of the Remnants of Despair. Like this is WAY beyond anything Junko was doing in DR1's Killing Game. Manipulating someone to commit a murder is one thing. I'm not denying that it's entirely possible for Junko to have done that to them. Manipulating them into having a complete breakdown and killing their families? Trickier, but not entirely outside the realm of possibility. Manipulating them to keep on killing over and over again, become addicted to the sensation, carry out all sorts of other depraved acts, and wage a forever war on humanity, with the determination of a literal machine? That's gonna take a LOT of work. Like years of work. To put things into perspective, the Nazi gas chambers were implemented as a more efficient extermination method, because it was discovered that quite a few guards found it difficult to pull the trigger on Jewish prisoners themselves. That was with an entire decade's worth of anti-Semitic propaganda building up to the Holocaust. Junko meanwhile did not have a decade. She had a year. Less than a year actually. On top of getting things ready for the Class 78 Killing Game, manipulating Kamukura, Matsuda, and the Warriors of Hope, and keeping up appearances as a regular class member, we're expected to believe that she was able to corrupt all of Class 77-B to that degree as a FUCKING SIDE PROJECT within about 9-10 months? Not just doing it to one person, but to 14 people altogether. And all the while this was done without Kyoko or Makoto or Matsuda or Jin Kirigiri noticing ANY unusual shifts in those students' behavior. Which would require the Remnant versions of people like Teruteru, Ibuki, Akane, etc. to have insane acting skills up until the Reserve Course destroyed most of the school. I get that the Despair Video thing felt kind of lazy. I personally would have gone with a brainwashing methods that was less OP and slower acting. But like...literal mind control really is the most straightforward explanation. The "charismatic Junko" interpretation is completely inconsistent with the level of competence she displayed in DR1. Someone brilliant enough to create the Remnants of Despair with a silver tongue alone would not have their Killing Game derailed by something like Sakura's sacrifice. And it requires some ridiculous characterization for Class 77-B. We have real life examples of attempted spree shooters who gave up and turned themselves in after killing family members, because they realized they didn't actually have the guts to become a mass-murderer. There would have to be at least one such "failed Remnant" who crashed and burned like that among those 14 if they behaved like actual human beings and not goddamn robots. People try to chalk this up to the SDR2 cast coming from broken homes and shit. But I mean come on. So did a good chunk of the DR1 cast, and they spent an entire year in isolation with Junko. They would have gone insane just by being in proximity to her for so long if she was that charismatic.
goddd you get it. you literally understand it all. it was cool when it was first revealed but it's just so. Weird. when you think about it. like this is just some teenager. some random teenager created a cult and basically ended the world in the span of less than a year .i get what they were going for but it feels like a lot of the time the characters bend to fit whatever's going on in the plot... it aint consistent đź’€
not sure how much it counts as controversial, but the bit at the end of DR3 where the Remnants take the blame for the killing game has always rubbed me the wrong way. Not just because of personal beliefs about information, but also because in that very same anime, we see Junko blackmailing people and HPA trying to cover up their mistakes. If anyone finds out the truth about the kg, they’re screwed. Felt like it went against the theme a bit.
Yeah actually I would say this is the opposite of controversial simply because I don't think I've ever met or seen a danganronpa fan who thinks dr3 was incredible. I don't hate dr3 nearly as much as I've seen other hate it, but I have a very strong love-hate relationship with it. Especially for Future.
But I can totally understand having beef with that particular ending. (In fact I have issues with most of the Hope arc) All three of the main games, even the pessimistic one, have a theme of facing the truth no matter how awful. So it is a bit strange for danganronpa to hide the truth when the core theme has always been to expose it. I can understand the world not being ready but...it felt unnecessary. Because The Future Foundation needs to be completely rebuilt anyway. All but three leaders of the FF are dead, and one of them just kinda walked away to do who knows what. The FF is also incredibly corrupt and terribly built. There IS no need to save it by taking the blame because it's already dead by the end of the anime.
I saw this and immediately thought of that one meme
The maestro without his hat. They could never make me hate you, Balan.
'The 'Remnants of Hope' are considered the last remaining of the sane Hopes Peak Academy students that are not in our care. It is this foundations mission to find and extract this miniature squadron from danger. We assume one of the lower level windows panelling was more rusted than initially thought before it had been fixed for the 'Killing Game'. These teenagers could be one of our last chances. Do not let their blood ridden figures lead to a violent encounter. They are simply surviving the best they can in that war zone.
Owari Akane:
Ultimate: Gymnast
Height: 5"9
Weight: 59kg/123lbs
Age: 17
Based on current cameras we have managed to reprogram for our purpose, Akane is plenty violent and makes up for a lack of proper critical thinking skills with her inane durability. She has no visible loss of body parts unlike her current compatriots, yet is littered with scars. Mainly more akin to a bear claw. Her strength is not to be questioned, in her files, the only people who have beaten her on hand to hand are Oogami Sakura and Nidai Nekomaru.
Sonia Nevermind
Ultimate: Princess
Height: 5"8
Weight: 50kg/110lbs
Age: 16
Additional Information - Home Country - Novoselic
Based on our surveillance, Sonia seems to be the least physically violent. She will adorn a weapon every once in a while and bear no fear in stepping in for her compatriots. This loyalty has resulted in the loss of her right arm from just below her elbow. She has sustained a temporary knee injury, slightly altering her ability to break into full sprint, this does not seem to bring her down. Her high spirits had made her a defacto leader and planner.
Souda Kazuichi
Ultimate: Mechanic
Height: 5"6
Weight: 64kg/141lbs
Age: 17
By far, this one is the least violent. From our surveillance, verbally, he's a menace. Otherwise he's secluded. His few attempts at heroism have had him majorly injured, losing his left leg from mid thigh down and almost complete loss of feeling in his right ankle. Don't underestimate the smarts. While brash verbally, he can build up a gun along with ammo and use it as quick as need be. He does not move now unless it's unquestionably needed.
Kuzuryu Fuyuhiko
Ultimate: Yakuza
Height: 5"1
Weight: 43kg/94lbs
Age: 16
Don't be fooled by his height or baby face. If his name rings a bell that's because it should. While one of the two destined to be a leader one day, he leaves it to the princess in exchange for more of a ranged amount of violence. Keeping range with mainly guns and ammo made by the mechanic has resulted in him being hurt the least, but he has lost an eye due to a rogue 'Remnant of Despair'. Which one is the culprit is unknown as of now.
We have trust you can extract these four safely and put them in the secure hands of the 'Killing Game' survivors. Or more, our hands.
Good luck.

you know what i really would’ve liked to see in dr3?
the remnants facing life-altering consequences for their actions. even though they were brainwashed, they still committed atrocities yet faced no real backlash that affects their life.
sonia being stripped of her rank as princess while her country bans her from her former kingdom. she tries to reason with them initially because she’s so stunned and resorts to her commanding princess self, but no one acknowledges her. they threaten her and almost arrest her, but she escapes. she no longer has a home or a family.
gundam being mistrusted by animals. he tries communing with them, but they refuse them. they lash out, biting him and rejecting him. they remember how he used them for evil.
saionji and ibuki being blacklisted in dancing/musical performances. former fans who felt the agony of their “concerts” recognize them and charge at them, trying to turn them in for their crimes. they no longer can dance or sing without retribution.
koizumi’s pictures being seen as despairing propaganda. her former work means nothing. all that matters to the world are her evil photos. no one will accept her work even when she tries to photograph “hopeful” things.
hanamura’s family has been blacklisted in the food/catering industry. if his siblings are alive, they want nothing to do with hanamura. it’s implied he may have killed his dear mother, so his brother and sister despise hanamura even though they left the family. like sonia, hanamura no longer has a family.
kuzuryuu and pekoyama have no clan left. the kuzuryuus could be dead or they decided to give the leadership to someone else if they came to their senses. they deny help to kuzuryuu and pekoyama, blaming them for their family’s decline. they only have each other.
that’s what i REALLY wanted to see. of course, hope arc is about “hope” and is seem as a “perfect happy ending,” which, considering the “gray” endings for sdr2 and drae, seems pathetic in comparison. these are people who, despite being brainwashed, committed terrible crimes. they shouldn’t be left off the hook so easily even if they endured their own private killing game. they say they will shoulder the burden of despair, but they go off hand-in-hand without consequences for their crimes. they pretend to be remnants, but they don’t face any backlash for what they did to thousands of millions of people.
thank you horikoshi sensei.
Main character privileges transfered
Playing through Sdr2 for the first time with some friends! We all agreed that everyone BUT Akane is transgender for the bit LMAO
