“I think of Cardan tied to a chair to cheer myself up. Then I think of the way he looked up at me through the curtain of his crow-black hair, of the curling edge of his drunken smile, and i don’t feel in the least bit comforted.” (Chap 23, Pg 279)
This quote is from when Jude and Taryn got into that fight after the failed coronation, when Jude found out about Locke and Taryn.
It funny how Jude’s thoughts go straight to Cardan. She attemps to cheer herself up at her accomplishment for having him hostage and as her prisoner. Instead she thinks of the way he LOOKED AT HER, and his SMILE.
Poor jude was head over heels for this man for soooo long, yet she didn’t know it and kept denying it the entire series until TQON. She confused her love for cardan with hate since the beginning of TCP. There’s so many quotes from Jude that the readers perceive are filled with hate.
For example:
“And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest, with black hair as iridescent as a raven’s wing and cheekbones sharp enough to cut out a girls heart. I hate him mora than the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breath” (Chap 4, Pg 30)
LIKE HELLO???
Jude has had a crush on Cardan since the beginning of the book. But her drive was all directed to hate. She wanted to be better than him, she wanted to humiliate him.
AND CARDAN WAS GOING THROUGH THE EXACT SAME THING.
Cardan has had a crush on Jude for a long time (even when he was in a relationship with Nicasia, i’ll make a separate post on their relationship later) Yet, he envied her for being a mortal and having the things he couldn’t have even as the prince of Elfhame. He admitted to wanting her out of his sight so he could stop feeling the way he did.
Both Jude and Cardan were enemies because of their differences. There was a lot of misunderstanding. Both of them assumed things that weren’t true. Both of them were going through struggles. And In the end, they realized they were more similar than they thought.
(sorry for the typos! it’s really late, and im half asleep, and YES IM RE READING THIS BOOK AGAIN, expect more analysis post for the folk of the air series)
one day you become an official searcher and the next youre in a wedding dress about to be married to a 10 foot tall one eyed man
Poseidon and Sally being good co-parents is really healing something in my child-of-a-divorcee heart. Sally can JUST summon him and he will JUST arrive.
"you won't want to hear it"/"no, but tell me anyway" MEANS SO MUCH TO ME. Like yes! Poseidon bearing part of the mental load means a lot to me.

Not only did Cardan send Jude a dress to match his own clothing in tcp, but out of the blue that night, he decides to dance with Jude. He doesn’t even wait for her and Locke to be done. And he says nothing that indicates he had a specific reason to talk to her. Read it. Chapter 20 TCP. He has nothing important to say to her, and he doesn’t mock her either. He just makes conversation in his Cardan way of doing so, while also getting the tiniest bit handsy.
Beautifully, he ends their conversation with, “Until we spar again.” As he departs, Jude says that Cardan “weaves unsteadily through the crowd”
Bitch… 🫢… we know damn well why them legs unsteady. And it ain’t the mf liquor.
can we talk about how loving jude slowly makes cardan have the confidence to be himself ???
like when he finally charms her, it’s his real self
she desired the boy prince who was cruel to everyone but she loved the boy king that was vulnerable and lost and finally learning that he has a true place in the world— that he is worth something
all while cardan always loved the real jude— jude was never afraid to be herself and maybe that’s why he first hated then furiously loved her
cardan was most himself when he was with jude
maybe he was begging for his life, but he was also begging for her heart u_u
dude ;0;
when cardan is telling jude about his whole plan (once she comes back ‘as taryn’) about exiling her and it being all sneaky and he’s like “look i’m like you ! i did a sneaky thing just like you did ! you must be so proud of me !!” and she’s like What Is Wrong With You ?!
broke my silly little heart, it did ;0;
No, but realistically speaking. I feel like Annabeth still would figure out another way.
*percy controlling akhlys’ poison to use it against her and choking her on her own tears and saliva*
annabeth: never do it again. never do anything like it again. i’m begging you
many years later
*percy and annabeth’s teenage children being held at knifepoint by enemies, seconds away from being killed*
annabeth: percy, do it
Jurdan have such regal vibes with gold jewelry and lavish clothes, which in turn makes me forget that the protagonists are an angsty 18 year old immortal fae who can’t process his emotions and a revengeful 17 year old human girl who’s mind is always consumed with hating said fae

I totally understand that James did nothing for Harry, for the most part of Harry's life. But it's not like he didn't do anything willingly. If I am not wrong he seemed a pretty decent dad for the time he was alive after Harry's birth.
And yeah, people don't talk enough about how what Severus did was brave and all that. But that's because they keep talking about how he had no right to be a dick to children just because he was bullied too, your trauma doesn't give you any right to traumatize other people. And at the end, what he did against Voldy was for revenge and for some sort of apologizing to Lily by "protecting" her son. He might have loved Lily, but it wasn't too long before that was turned into obsession. I empathized with the school boy Severus. But after that, it was a bit too twisted.
People get mad that Harry named his son after Severus. However I’m leaning more towards the fact that Snape did the most thankless job even after being mistreated all of his life by the people he was saving and working with and the only thanks he gets- the only time anyone has decided to remember a single thing he did- it’s when Harry is naming his spawn.
Severus is not even the spawn’s first name, it’s his second name. Oh yeah and he threw in some half-baked dialogue about how Severus was brave. Wow truly what a fucking treat, what an homage.
And people are complaining that he didn’t name his kid after Hargid (or Lupin I don’t think which is pretty sad and also thankless). And I agree, but instead of switching out Severus’s name, take out James’s.
He named one of his kids James Sirius Potter (which is just so cringe) and like my question is why? Sirius is perfectly understandable but why James? James has done absolutely nothing-and I mean-NOTHING for Harry apart from get compared to him and has basically acted as a sperm donor to Harry. No- not a father, because being a father actually requires raising ur kid- no James’s only merit is that he had a wizard messiah in his ballsack. Brilliant.
