SUMMARY

It’s been forty years since the Second Wizarding War. Lots of things are different now but some things never change.

The new school year is starting and for Lance it’s a chance to learn new skills, make new friends, and achieve his lifelong dreams. All Keith wants to do is get through his classes without anyone getting in his way. These two students clash due to some misunderstandings and opposing opinions. And they both have to wonder if its possible for two people, so utterly different, to be friends? What about something more?

“I’ll take that action. You lost last time too,” Pidge grins. “He’ll be here. He’s never late if it’s important.”

Keith perks up at that information. For some reason, it’s an eye-opening revelation for him but it feels like something he should have noticed sooner. Lance’s poor time management makes a hell of a lot more sense now. It’s subconscious. He’s only late to things he doesn’t prioritize as important… like some of his classes and his dates with Inez.

But Lance never misses a practice with his team. Always on time for his scheduled tutoring sessions. And like clockwork never misses an evening conversation with Lion.

Hello, yes, this fic reawakened by Harry Potter phase—but that’s not the point here. The incorporation of ‘fake-identity’ and love letters mixed with Lance’s obliviousness and Keith’s denial-later acceptance is just adorable

Language Practice for Upper-Intermediate and Advanced Learners

One of the most abso-fucking-lutely frustrating and terrible useful and effective methods of studying I’ve found is to practice simultaneous interpretation. What’s awesome is you can do this anytime your target OR native language is being spoken, as interpretation works both ways.

For instance, when watching the news at night, if I’m not multitasking in some other way, I’ll just start doing my best (no matter how terrible it sounds/how much I don’t know) to interpret it out loud into Russian (or sometimes Spanish or French). You can also do this in your head if there are other people in your house – that’s what I normally do.

Because you’re not interpreting for anyone, it doesn’t matter how badly you do. What’s important is simply practicing the rapid recall of words as they appear at native speed.

Interpreting into your target language is obviously much harder than interpreting from it, so for upper-intermediate learners it can be extremely helpful to find a news source in your target language. For instance, in Spanish and Russian I am advanced enough to try interpreting into it (again, albeit with MANY mistakes – but I’m not doing it for anyone but myself so it doesn’t matter). However, my French sucks. It used to be okay, and it is getting better, but I would not (and have never) called myself “advanced” at it [hopefully within a couple years]. Thus, it is easier to interpret French into English.

My Miraculous Fic Recommendations~

(I apologize for the long delay! I intended to have this posted a week ago, but got caught up with holiday/family things, working on my comic, and a having a cold! yikes >_<’)

As requested, here are some really awesome fics that I have read, or currently reading (in no particular order) that I think everyone should take a look at if they interest you, and if you have not already read them!

Teen and Up:

How to Fail at Dating a Superhero by emerald_moons - (complete) A fic that examines what happens after Adrien bids on Ladybug at a celebrity auction and wins a date with her. Things spiral out of control after that when he’s torn between how she feels about both his identities.

Truthful Scars by @frostedpuffs - (complete) A wonderfully fluffy story about Adrien discovering his feelings for Marinette, and doing his best to become closer to her as both himself and as Chat Noir.

The Tendencies Series (Obsession, Glaze, Quiver) by @kryallaorchid - (complete) A truly remarkable series of stories that encompasses an unbelievable expansion upon the miraculous magic and the growth between all of the characters. A very long read, but worth every moment with the amount of detail and emotions incorporated from start to finish.

My Last Thoughts are of You by @skaylanphear - (complete) An incredibly moving story that is raw with the painfully intense feelings of Adrien, as he is faced with gut wrenching possibility of almost losing Marinette and Ladybug from a horrible accident.

Telltale by Zizzani - (complete) After Ladybug is slightly injured from an akuma, she pieces together who Chat Noir really is. Meanwhile Adrien also notices Marinette like never before, and they grow closer as friends and more, until things threaten to keep them apart.

Pick-Up and Chase by SKayLanphear - (almost complete) A light hearted and flirty story featuring a very flustered Adrien. When Marinette discovers Chat Noir’s interest in someone using pick-up lines on him, she starts saying them to Adrien, and the poor boy doesn’t know what hit him.

Miraculous Beauxbatons by @inkjackets - (in progress) A very interesting Harry Potter crossover au that creatively mixes the origins, episodes, and characters with the HP universe and Miraculous magic. Instead of placing them at Hogwarts, they meet at Beauxbatons school of magic and witchcraft, where all of the show’s paralleled adventures take place instead. (which makes a lot more sense since they are in France after all!)

Mature:

Porte-Boner by @abadmeanman - (in progress) This hilarious story, filled with ridiculously perverse innuendos is an on going masterpiece of comedy. As well as the brilliantly described farce, the sweet romantic moments between Adrien and Marinette are just as touching and heartfelt to read.

Serendipitous Fate by @skaylanphear - (in progress) An incredibly epic tale following the end of canon season one. This fic is often recommended, and with good reason. The beginning may be calm, but it quickly becomes a dark and intense story focusing on the character’s connections, intimacy, friendships, and learning about some miraculous history.

Découvrir by Yilena @xiueryn (in progress) Non-miraculous or magic AU, Marinette knew she used to have a childhood friend that lived next door, and he was a celebrity actor named Nino. Unfortunately she suffered from amnesia after an accident as a child, so when she starts reuniting with her friend once again, she may have made a mistake in who she thought she was e-mailing. Adrien on the other hand has never forgotten his feelings for that little girl he used to play with.

A Beautiful Mistake by @maerynn-blog - (recently completed!) Non-miraculous or magic AU, Marinette intended to message Alya early in the morning, but it gets sent to Adrien instead. From there, a touching story unfolds with Adrien and Marinette unknowingly growing closer through anonymous texting as they also reunite years after graduating, and begin working together. Marinette faces a painful scar of her past in order to move forward with her heart, but luckily Adrien’s affection and acceptance is what she needs to heal. [ ;D I saw you Maerynn!]

A Werecat in London by @i-am-thornqueen - (in progress) I am so excited for this fic to continue!! An amazing and gorgeous world-building tale outside of the miraculous universe featuring werewolves, witches, demons and much more magic beyond that. During a summer in London, Marinette and Adrien are caught up in a strange magic mix-up from an akumatized witch, that causes Adrien to fuse with Plagg and become a werecat when he loses control. Now his senses are overwhelming, and Marinette smells so much sweeter than he’s ever imagined. Possibly the key to helping him will be when he and Ladybug can finally be on the same wavelength. [please don’t stop writing this, I love it!]

Bare Necessities by @reyxa - (complete) Marinette is a student at University Art School taking a figure drawing class. So when Adrien walks in her class one day as the model they are going to be working from, she realizes that he’s going to be posing nude, and she’s seated right in front. Despite the embarrassment from both of them, they hangout and grow closer, with Adrien helping her art progress in secret. This makes things between them even more interesting when they still have to be crime-fighting partners as well, and Adrien’s nude modeling job may come back to cause problems later.

Allez Savoir Pourquoi  and its prequel Amour Fou by Yilena @xiueryn - (complete) A non-miraculous AU, Marinette wasn’t sure if she believed the legend of seeing your soulmate in the mirror, until one day she did see him. For many years she watched him, not knowing who he was till she meets Adrien at his newly opened cat café, and suddenly decides to work for him. Then the prequel from Adrien’s perspective: he sees a photo of a girl named Marinette, and he never thought he could be infatuated with someone simply from pictures before.

Lady and the Tomcat by SKayLanphear - (in progress) [I like a lot of Kay’s fics sorry] Marinette is starting to experience ladybug pheromones and mating cycle for the first time, which wouldn’t be so bad, except for how it’s going to affect Chat Noir when he starts to feel the heat. This fic has only a few chapters, but promises to be filled with amazing amounts of subconscious attraction and tension!

From Beginner to Intermediate: an intense plan for advancing in language

Introduction

I've studied Spanish at school for 3 years and now I'm at a low B1 level. I can actually understand pretty well while listening or reading but I can't communicate fluently.

This plan will include vocabulary build up, some grammar revision, a lot of listening, reading and writing. And could be used for the most languages, not only Spanish.

Plan

Every day:

Conjugate one verb in present, past and future tenses

Make a list about 10 - 30 words long

Create flashcards with them and start learning them (I use Quizlet for flashcards)

Revise yesterday's set of flashcards

2-3 times a week:

Read an article or a few pages from a book

Write a few sentences about anything in your target language

Listen to one episode of podcast (at least one)

Once a week or every two weeks:

Watch a movie in your target language, preferably animated movie as the language used there is easier. You can watch with subtitles

Grammar exercises

Translate some short text

Once a month:

Write something longer, like an essay or report, on chosen topic

Additionally:

Talk to yourself, to your friends, to your pets

Text with someone

Look at the transcription while listening to the podcast for second time

Repeat what you hear (in podcast or movie)

Check words you don't know from the listening and reading

Read out loud

Listen to music in your target language - you can even learn the text and sing along

Watch YouTube in your target language

Change your phone language to the one you're learning

Think in you target language!!!

***This is very intense plan for self-learners, you don't have to do all of these things in the given time. Adjust it to your own pace. I'll try to stick to this, if I have enough time.***

Chapter Four: The Earthquake April 15, 1985 Hawkins, Indiana

“Mr. Wheeler? Are you listening?”

Mike felt a sharp, unexpected poke between his ribs and startled, peeling his eyes away from the clock that hung over the blackboard, its hands crawling impossibly slow from one minute to the next. He was suddenly painfully aware of all twenty-odd sets of eyes in the room focused on him. Next to him, Dustin glared with exasperation, mouthing the word nine as subtly as he could—which was, in fact, not very subtle. Mike narrowed his eyes in confusion, his lips pursed.

“Mr. Wheeler?”

Sheepishly, Mike glanced up at his math teacher, Ms. Lennox, watching him expectantly behind her thick-rimmed glasses. So that’s what this was about. Mike licked his lips and hurriedly looked back down to his notebook, filled with messy numbers and doodles of a certain girl’s name across the margins. Silently, he thanked his lucky stars that he already had the page opened to last night’s homework.

“It’s thirty-six,” Mike answered, voice quiet but confident, “The answer to number nine is thirty-six.”

Ms. Lennox looked slightly annoyed, shooting the rest of the class a quick and deadpan look as they began to snicker. “That’s correct, Michael,” she sighed, half-heartedly, “But I think what Mr. Henderson was trying to tell you was that the answer to number fifteen is nine.”

Mike and Dustin flushed simultaneously as Ms. Lennox, heels clicking against the linoleum floor, returned to other side of the room to look for someone to answer the next question. Dustin nudged Mike in the ribs again, this time with more irritated force, shaking his head in a resigned way. Mike shot him an apologetic shrug, both of them thankful Ms. Lennox wasn’t the kind of teacher who gave detention for little things like being distracted.

Because Mike was, to say the very least, distracted. He hadn’t been able to focus on anything during first or second period, and things were only getting worse as the day progressed, his nerves growing more and more acidic in his stomach. El had looked so tired when he left her yesterday, her eyes weary and her face pale. And when he had called to ask about her after dinner, Hopper said she was sleeping. He said the same thing when Mike called again at seven and a third time at nine-thirty.

It was difficult to forget the sight of El’s face when she had woken up in his lap, the way the blood had been practically gushing from her nose and the fear in her eyes that she insisted was the result of just another nightmare.

But Mike knew El’s nightmares; he had spent months talking her to sleep on the phone, waking to the buzzing of his supercom when she needed to talk in the middle of the night. More than once she’d fallen asleep on his shoulder, babbling and whimpering until she woke up, her terror softened when she looked at him with sleepy eyes.

Yesterday something had felt different and it made Mike worry. Sighing, he returned to his vigilant staring at the clock, counting down the seconds until he could leave school and bike as fast as his legs would carry him over to the cabin.

HI HELP PLEASE??

Shouting into the void to find this one FREAKING klance fic because I've been looking for almost an hour now.

I am looking for this one klance fic and the premise is like..... different times lance called keith different pretty named ( like they were at a bar and he called him sweetheart or something when an alien guy was hitting on him) and the last time he called him sweetheart and said "I love you" as he fell asleep and Keith freaked and stopped talking to him and they got in a fight and then had to go on a mission and Keith almost died and lance ran in to save him, and Keith woke up in the healing pod and called him aein (sp?? Its been a while since I've seen it he said it was sweetheart in korean)

That's like... a lot of Klance fics. I remeber very specific pieces though like talking about how lance "hadnt been sleeping, or taking care of his skin the way he usually did, or crying". ...... so like... please help??? I've just been thinking about this for like a week now.
