izumi, for the sake of his image, can not even possibly imagine of showing affection...at least in public. but even when you're alone, he is subtle—carelessly holding your hand, or moving your hair behind your ear so that he can caress you... he really tries to hide it, but you know him so he can't hide his actions from you very well. basically, izumi is affectionate in his way: he does it in a way that he hopes you don't notice, even with words. he likes to use words that he thinks "you would never understand because you're silly" and there he drops a cute word: silly! see? as if he studies how to tell you how much you're adorable😭

izumi + petnames = my love. simple but effective. of course only in private, in public he just calls you by your name—but izumi thinks that yours is a nice name, he always blushes just a little, even though you can still see the bright red shade on his face. hehe ><

back to the first point, izumi is not a lover of loving acts. that does not mean he won't give you hugs, specifically—always following the usual "in private" practice, izumi will circle your waist with an arm and holding you close from the side, and when he wants you closer, he just gives up his pride, and holds you firmly in his arms. love really makes a bad effect on izumi, does it?

you know kaiser better than himself, and kaiser finally figures out that he knows you just as well

kaiser wakes like he’s gently being pulled out of water. he blinks a few times to rid himself of the drowsiness, though he can’t seem to move with the weight on his chest. you come into view through his half-lidded eyes, the outline of your form glowing with the light coming from the television. your arm is draped over his stomach to mindlessly trace the inked vines and thorns that climb up his skin, your touch so soft yet mildly electric.

“tickles,” he mumbles, shifting slightly to pull his other arm out from under you. it’s gone numb by now, and he briefly shakes it before setting it down on the top of your head.

you pull your attention away from the screen to look at him, smiling when his palm strokes down the back of your head and the length of your spine. “did you have a good nap?”

“was i out for long?” he says, voice still slightly hoarse.

you hum, the reverberations of your ribcage extending to his. as the sleepiness wears off, your glistening skin comes into focus. “i finished two episodes while you slept.”

“You must be more careful, darling.”

You frowned. Rei had been somewhat lecturing you for the past half hour. You sat on the edge of the bathroom counter, watching as the vampire slowly wrapped a clean white bandage around your scraped arm.

“I know…” You sighed, looking away from him. “I’m sorry.”

You couldn’t help but huff. About an hour ago, you had taken a nasty fall onto solid concrete after collapsing due to exhaustion. Work was work—and unfortunately, there wasn’t much you could do to escape it. Maybe you’d try to get some more sleep, or maybe you’d force yourself to drink more water. If not for your sake, then for Rei’s.

Your boyfriend cupped your cheek as he stood between your legs, gently kissing your forehead. “Don’t apologize, beloved. Just be more mindful next time, yes?” He whispered against your skin, pecking you once again before pulling away to bandage your other arm.

It was unbelievable how utterly kind and loving he was. Rei had warned you numerous times about the consequences of overworking yourself, and when you hadn’t listened and ultimately collapsed, he still stood here, bandaging you up. “I will. I promise.”

Rei smiled warmly. “I know you will.”

He wrapped your arm with the bandages so expertly, covering your wounds with the white fabric tightly enough to stay on, but not tightly enough to hurt you. You didn’t understand how you got so lucky—having a boyfriend who would always drop everything to help you. You almost felt guilty.

Rei must’ve read your thoughts, taking your hands in his softly once he finished dressing your arms.

“I’ll always be here for you to fall back on, alright? You needn’t worry. I only want you to be safer, my dear.” He smiled, bringing your uncovered hands to his lips, kissing them tenderly. “I love you very much.”

“I love you more, Rei. I’m grateful to have you.” You answered, the man continuing to kiss around your palms, knuckles, and fingers. He let out a breathy chuckle, leaning into you, his face dangerously close to yours.

“I love you most.” He said, simply. “You do so much for me, so let me take care of you once in awhile, sweetheart.”

The ravonette fully leaned in and kissed you, his lips molding to fit against your perfectly, his hands never leaving yours. You felt him smile against your lips.

life was seemingly getting better, you wore the same clothes everyday, looked at the same things everyday, ate the same things everyday. walking along the grassy fields, you don't know where you were, your legs hurt and you were dazed, the fire in your heart growing more larger by the second. it was a hot day. water. you needed water. where's water? those words seemingly registered in your brain and your exhausted legs took you to a place where it felt oh so similar. oh. it was a public pool, how nice - exactly where water was. the sounds of whirring were surrounding you. in the middle of the pool, was sae and rin in their floaties. wait. sae and rin ? really ? they looked at you with warming eyes and waved their hands at you - beckoning you to come over. you jumped into the pool. so this is where they were. you don't even question it, you were happily playing the water with your brothers - when has life ever been this relaxing? for some reason, it felt truly good to be in the water this time - that fire in your heart has been such a bother, the water in the pool dimmed it immediately.

sae never thought he was a bad brother, he just thought he had too little time. he saw your texts, saw your glances, saw you liking his every post on social ( wait he knows your user ? ) but tough luck - he doesn't know how to respond to all of this. he was devastated when the awkward relationship with rin started, he just never thought caring for your feelings.

sae doesn't know anything but football. he wants to tell you he cares and that you will always be the very best sibling he could ever have, even up until now he collects and favourites every image of the two of you together, some with rin too maybe.

to properly explain his love for you, is like this : he loves you, he really does, and he wishes he could have more time for you.

rin is so not aware of his actions - he thought that sae was being a good brother to you so he automatically assumes you have an awkward assumption about him too.

rin thinks, that sae is doing the part of brother and sister with you, without needing him. and it hurts him, he wouldn't admit it though. it hurts to have sae throw their dreams out the window and now he wants to hog all your attention too.

he thinks he's doing the most, sae has your time and he will never be able to fit in the picture. after all - only the best footplay player can properly protect such an innocent person.

it was when sae and rin walked to the beach - not expecting to see each other. oh well, they could just do a mean little bump, a hi and walk along.

when their shoulders were about to meet each other, sae suddendly stopped walking which makes rin glance over and sae tugs his arm - tightly. what? "there's somebody jumping off the bridge." sae said, a bit shakily. rin turns his head back. "is that-" rin stops. and the both of them dashed. sae called the ambulance and rin went over to the edge of the beach, trying to figure out what he just saw. he was so certain it was you, but why would it to be you? you had no reason too, right? "..." your body was gently carried out of the dark sea, not very hard to find you considering all you did was plunge down into the water. rin's body was numb, he couldn't control his limbs, he fell down. sae tried to dash over to your cold body but the authorities stopped him and told him to back away. never has he ever felt so desperate, such want for something. but.. don't you look a little weird? your clothes were tattered, rashes and bruises were placed all over your body, it was like you were abandoned on the streets. "i thought you were looking after them" rin stated - not questioning, just a statement. "isn't it the other way around?" sae replied back, wanting to push the blame onto rin. there was no way this had happened. he refused to admit that his lack of attention to you caused this. it had to be someone, rin maybe. "there's no point in being the best at something, if you cannot bested your feelings" rin spat out, pushing the blame back. sae is the oldest, right? he should have taken care of you. both of them stared at each other's gazes you were playing water with them, with cool floaties the blame wasn't pushed anymore, it was divided within their hearts you went to get a hot chocolate with marshmellows, rin and sae having energy drinks the blame was so heavy they felt the sting, feeling the coldness of your body on their faces you went home with sae and rin, hand in hand

sae and rin never recovered. the nights were as cold as a dead body. sometimes sae cried and cried, rin suddenly sharing a room with his brother again, cried too - never stopped until the morning where the sun rises and dries off the water. was this also how you felt? texts were answered years later but no responses. "i thought you were looking after them." "i thought i did enough." "what if-" "there are no what ifs anymore." silence followed. then sniffles and tears.

your room collected dust overtime, the curtains covering up your window perfectly - to block off any nosy people. sae sometimes goes inside your room, sits on the floor. rin would silently knock on the door, hoping someone would open it. sometimes, rin would find sae sitting on the floor and joins him too - as they dream of another day

a/n : for further explanation - reader was abandoned by their parents and they left reader alone, thus why eat drink and wear the same thing. they were in a state of delusion and their legs instinctively took them to the sea where they often gazed with sae and rin. even at their last moments they really loved sae and rin so ya & i found a nice discord username finally omg im happy w this one

itoshi rin has bad days.

beneath his calm, collected, rational exterior, is a human. someone who feels just as deeply as those around him. although, unlike many of those people, rin isn't so good at expressing said feelings. he bottles them up, fights his battles alone and in silence.

you've noticed that much as long as you've been with him.

which is why you aren't entirely surprised when the slam of a door sounds throughout your apartment—loud enough that you can hear it from your bedroom all the way down the hall. his footsteps are heavy with his approach and you set your phone aside to give him your full attention.

rin nudges the door open with his shoulder, the opposite hand running through his hair in irritation. he drops his duffel bag by the dresser and it hits the floor with a thud as he pulls open the drawers in search of some loungewear. you don't miss the way he fails to greet you as usual, with a kiss on your temple and inquiries about your day.

"hey," you start, watching the man stack a folded pair of joggers on the surface, "welcome home." a beat of silence passes, and then more, enough to tell that you won't be getting any response from him.

"rough day?" you probe, hoping the question will elicit a reply.

and it does, just not the one you're looking for. "i'm getting in the shower," rin tells you, never turning to face you. instead, he steps into the bathroom, closing the door behind him.

you sigh at his blatant resistance to talk things through with you, but you're not angry—far from it, actually. you know this routine. he shuts down in an attempt not to take his frustrations out on you and disappears until the stress he's under begins to seep away.

there's no telling how long he'll spend beneath the stream of steaming water but you want to be ready for him when he gets back.

on the other side of the door, in the room where the mirror begins to fog up and the water pelts the tiles, rin stands unmoving under the shower head. an overwhelming number of thoughts are crowding his skull—thoughts of his less-than-ideal performance during today’s practice, thoughts of his stagnant progress, thoughts of inferiority. but most of all, thoughts about how the aftermath of his shitty day was taken out on you are ruthlessly nagging at him.

he shouldn't have done that. you've always told him that you're on his team, by his side, here to help the best you can. and he knows it's true but on days like these, it's hard for him to believe that he can rely on anyone but himself.

until he can convince himself that he deserves any consolation, relief, sympathy from you, rin scrubs away at his skin, soapy blobs running down his body and into the drain.

when he opens the door, rin’s heart feels lighter in his chest upon seeing that you haven’t left. you must have gotten up for a moment though because sitting on the mattress with you is the hair dryer. there's a bowl of fruit on your bedside table, too. the motion at the en suite catches your attention, leading you to drag your gaze up from your phone in favor of looking at rin. you offer him a small smile as you set the device on the surface to the left of you.

“want me to dry your hair?” you reach forward to grab the dryer, waving the appliance to emphasize your question. there's no sign of resentment or bitterness in your voice—it's just as easygoing as it had been when you greeted him.

rin swallows and nods. "sure."

"sit," you instruct him with a finger pointing to the ottoman at the foot of your bed. he wordlessly follows your command, turning around to take a seat on the furniture while your knees dig into the mattress to meet him there.

the hair dryer whooshes to life in your hand, a rush of warm air hitting the back of rin's head and sending damp strands of dark green hair forward. that and the feel of your fingers gently shaking out and separating the strands calms rin to his core. it's nearly enough to make him forget about the unfavorable happenings of his day.

all too soon the sensation is gone and you're sitting back on your calves.

"all done," you tell rin. "get comfortable. i'll put this away."

you sneak off to return the blow dryer to its rightful place in the bathroom and quickly wash your hands before joining rin back in your bedroom. spotting rin resting against the pillows, you round the bed and perch yourself beside him, patting your lap in a silent gesture for him to lay his head there.

the side of rin's face presses against your thighs in the new, relaxing position. the weight of his head is comforting and enough to tell you that the shower helped clear the fog of frustration from his mind. still, you don't want to pressure him into talking about something he doesn't want to share so, instead, you grab the porcelain bowl from your table and pluck an apple slice from the dish. you hold it to rin's lips, coaxing him to take a bite.

he does, a small nibble at first before his incisors break off bigger chunks. you feed him, stealing pieces of the sliced fruit here and there while your other hand runs through the silky strands of hair splayed out on your lap. it keeps up this way until the bowl is empty.

you make a move to get up and rinse the dish out but you don't make it far.

"wait, don't go." rin speaks, his hand shooting out to stop yours from pulling away. his fingers loosen around your wrist but he doesn't let you go entirely, as if he's afraid that you slink away if he does. the next thing he says is much quieter, just above a whisper. "please."

any plan you have to leave the bed dissipates with his words. you fall back into the softness of the pillows behind you, fingernails grazing the nape of rin's neck. teal eyes framed by thick lashes stare up at you. behind them, you're almost sure there's a glint of desperation. you nod. "i won't."

rin takes a moment to collect his thoughts, to formulate the right words.

"i'm sorry," he starts. it comes out slowly, not because he's reluctant to say so but because he wants to be sure you hear him. "for being short with you. i wasn't my best at practice and i made it your problem. i shouldn't have and i'm sorry."

he doesn't look away from you once during his admission, blue-green irises boring into you.

you smile and squish rin's cheeks together, causing his lips to poke out in a pout. your gesture may be silly, but you really do appreciate him saying sorry. "apology accepted. just remember, i'm always on your side. always."

he pulls your hand away and kisses your palm. "i know. and... thank you."
