DRABBLE CHALLENGE 2024: DAY 5 / RING Roma gets new clothes.

Rahadin’s armor fit Roma perfectly--an honest surprise considering so few things did. The fine leather breast piece lay flat and uncomplicated over his clothes. The boots neither squeezed his toes nor chafed his ankles. Even when the collar was clasped fully shut, he felt like he could breathe comfortably. 

For someone who had a lot of complaints about clothes, Roma could admit that these were nice. They would serve as a good replacement for his tattered traveling leathers... though, cynically, Roma was fairly sure whatever benefit they provided would be negated by Strahd’s rage upon seeing that he, of all people, was wearing the chamberlain’s armor.   

Roma fished out the signet ring Rabbit had plucked from Rahadin’s body; like everything else, it was a satisfying weight at the center of his palm. Roma remembered the monster hunter they’d parted ways with just a few days earlier. 

“Knives would like this.” He thought as the raven insignia glinted in the early morning light. “I’ll give it to her the next time we meet up.” 

Roma pocketed the ring again. 

Well. Whatever. Strahd was dead set on killing everyone anyway. Not something a ring and some armor was going to change.

roma has the charm of a shibe that DOESN'T want to go on a walk anymore, and you gotta pull his collar and his face scrunches up and you gotta drag him and his stupid little scrunched face along. roma has the charm of a husky that's like. sitting in the car and REFUSES to get out no matter how many times you tell him its time to get out and he's just staring at you in that knowing husky way because you BOTH KNOW!!! HE'S NOT MOVING AND YOU CAN'T CONVINCE HIM TO LEAVE THIS CAR WITHOUT MAJOR INCENTIVE despite YOU KNOWING YOU CAN'T LEAVE THIS HUSKY IN THE HOT CAR.

Roma has the charm of a young person who hasn't experienced the world latching onto some niche detail and being SO CONVINCED of this little thing's GREAT IMPORTANCE that when you mention that this thing is alright HE'S SO BEWILDERED? like what do you MEAN you don't think guardians of the galaxy is PEAK CINEMA... and is just SOO passionate about this random mainstream thing because that's all he's experienced ... and has convinced himself that YOURE the strange one about all this

Roma has the charm of a cat that brings dead birds and mice and lizards into your house that theyve hunted and then MEOW SO LOUDLY AFTER THEYVE HUNTED THEM!!!! and these little corpses are just SO NASTY but your cat is so damn PROUD

roma is very stubborn and rude and annoying but he means everything he says and everything he does 100% and that's a part of his charm!!!! all the bad parts and all the good parts he will own up to completely and while he ends up grating at a lot of people i think there's something to his naked earnestness and honesty that's always on display. he's a stinky, willful dog and everything that comes with it!!!!

Primary weapons are magic handaxe, saber, and the ability to call lightning from her fingertips.

An elusive NPC that’s both a world of help and a storm of trouble at the same time, Ez is protege to one of the greatest monster hunters in existence, and her nearly bottomless talent and expertise are countered only by her reckless, impulsive disposition and swiftly changing whims. Casual, confident, and deeply capable, she’s happy to share her knowledge with the party when asked, but her cat-like independent streak means she never stays for long. 

When the party first met her, she had big ‘I’ll sell you for one corn chip’ energy, and while it doesn’t seem like she’ll betray them anymore, she still feels like a gremlin and is somewhat difficult to read. The party enjoys her because she’s easy to talk to and exchange theories with. Roma likes chatting with her when she’s around, and “likes” her, which at this moment involves giving her a lot of gifts and making fun of her when she loses things. 

OTHER FACTS: 

Has a below the knee prosthetic.

Says her parents were the worst.

Seems to have a complicated relationship with her heritage. 

Running gag that she keeps throwing her ax into the figurative (sometimes literal) abyss despite not needing to at all and the party has to fetch it 

Running gag that she just loses important things, like full horses, her magic cart, and her spell components

Can do triple the amount of damage of the party in a single turn 

Lost her shadow once, and had to go on a long and difficult venture with The Twins to retrieve it back 

Talks to Roma in Goblin, a language that only the two of them and none of the party know 

Was first mentioned in Roma’s tarot reading (players are given a tarot reading in the beginning of the campaign called Tarokka that tells them important NPCs or artifacts abt the world that’ll help them in the campaign/relate to completing objectives in backstory) 

The Tempter - speaks of one who will direct you to a mutual ally; to someone who knows something of your past and who will know something of your future. you must seek out the woman of recklessness who is missing one of her legs.

Can read tarokka, but claims to not be very fluent with it.

A gold bracelet worth 100 gold pieces taken from the party’s first vampire kill
