we read bakaridjan kone in class

i enjoy the story and have a lot of visuals for what's going on {wow who could've guessed}

we get to present on why bakaridjan is the best hero out of all the other stories

there's a visual aid segment.

"oh i should research as much as i can, since that sounds like the most fun!"

i. have looked up traditional segou clothing/patterns, what segou/fula people look like, assorted mali and fula things, and now i am on horse coat/eye color traits, how long certain breeds have been around, and which breeds are in mali since wikipedia didn't have segou itself but had mali— and when i asked if i should start early my teammates said it should be fine {good on them, they probably didn't know, but also oh my fucking god this is due tomorrow pretty much ?}

all of this for like a 2 second joke. dosoke zan tells the main 3 heros of segou that he took their protective items in disguise, bakaridjan looks at him, teleports onto the horse, and turns into smoke.

ivy has the next big paragraph after zane, so here we go!

i’m gonna try to put it in order, but again, eventually there are so many notes that i can’t keep track very well

iverline ‘ivy’ vide, she/they {alternate paragraphs} cis, homoromantic/sexual. 27 at the start of season 2

she’s half enderbeing and half human. she has the abilities of an enderbeing, which means she has natural magicks, but is half dead

they have a habit of wearing long sleeves because, due to the vivus mortem, their body is usually cold to the touch

her cousin lilith wi’ic, usually called lily, used to hang out all the time around the stone wall that separates the farms and main town. they found alex floran playing with some bugs and asked if they could find some blowballs {puffy dandelion} together so the three could make wishes

{8} when ivy was getting a better grip on the teleportation magick she inherited from her father, she went a little too far one day and ended up in a snowy courtyard. realizing she heard voices and saw swords she tried to hide behind a pillar. as she heard them coming closer, sounding like teenagers, panicking in the last second, she got home and felt like throwing up from the adrenaline. her parents were worried sick when she was gone and adrianne scooped her child into a hug while quin held both of them. ivy didn’t teleport, or practice, for years {picked it back up around 12}

{7} when they were inspecting their eyebags, that they noticed never went away, they went up to their mother {adrianne koribella, 37} and asked. she happily revealed that their father was an enderbeing! ivy was shocked to their core. their stepfather, quin gilson {36}, rushed into the room and reminded addie that they were going to sit down and talk about this. ivy was so distraught that they went to their best friends, alex and lily, for comfort

{13} the three wanted to grow up and sell flowers, bouquets with/out meanings, or singulars in their hometown of gra’mira. one day ivy was on the lookout for dust flowers after a nearby quarrel between neighboring villages. as they were picking them from the stems and trying to get as much of the roots to replant, they found an abandoned scythe. the sickly magenta glow radiating magick... it felt familiar. when they came back their friends were just expecting a basket full of flowers but found ivy twirling said scythe easily with a smile. the girls knew that their childhood dream was just that, but would work towards it anyway until they couldn’t and would have to face reality

when ivy applied herself for guard academy and gave goodbyes, janus was doing their routine of checking the new seasons recruits. when zane asked for the report and heart of a girl with auburn hair who practically danced with a scythe, he remembered the kid who had felt like a mirage in the snow with vylad, he knew she had to be bumped up on the list of jurors. janus was then instructed to keep a close eye on her and to mark down her progress in training and combat

one day when ivy was visiting home, after feeling eyes on them as they practiced in the towns guard grounds, alex ran up with a letter. it had the o’khasis {and by extension irena} symbol in the wax. lily was running up when the letter was torn, ivy peeled off the stamp first of course, and jumped for joy when reading the recommendation by high priest zane himself. as the teenagers fell to the ground laughing in relief, janus left knowing zane was going to have an easy time convincing them to join and stay

ivy waited years. of course, she wouldn’t wish ill will- especially towards one of the ru’aunian protectors! but still, the letter started to feel like an empty promise... so many opportunities had been willingly passed up. romances, jobs, friendships, events- all were dismissed in case the letter were to come while she was out. she remembers the feeling of sitting by the window in that damn rocking chair, waiting for a postman. waiting for a sign. alex would still visit, of course, and ever since lily got married it was getting hard to see her. alex would update ivy on lily, town activities, and what was going on in the world. ivy would thank her while cleaning the tea dishes, and every single time it was too tempting to take her old friend’s hand and step out of the house, to experience life again... irena lend your strength, it was tempting.

the day janus walked up to ivy’s door and hand delivered The letter, it was snatched up with a muttering of “i’ll get dressed.” janus stepped inside with a confident smile and sat on the couch. the green patterned walls and doily on the back of the couch were a testament to how the new recruit was doing. looking around they noticed that the doorways were slightly taller than average to compensate ivy’s height. ivy opened the door, almost slamming it into the wall, janus knew that it was going to be easier than they thought to make sure they would never leave the jury

the introduction ceremony for ivy was the first, as some of the jurors had not returned. it was lavish, covered in gold and silver with accents of green. ivy hadn’t pressed her hair strawberry in a while so the public would have a clean slate to pick apart at their leisure. zane didn’t look a day over 36. ivy walked with her head held high, making constant eye contact with her soon-to-be boss. zane liked the confidence, and how it would crumble under his grip. when presented with the magenta sash and announced Iverline the Poison Scythe, the crowd erupted in cheers and yelling. ivy walked back down the path catching dark red, almost black eyes and a long braid by the innermost edge of the banner rolled out on the ground. her smile was trying to interrupt the message of the tears

after ivy was introduced to the jury and people wouldn’t recognize them, some townsfolk would start to make fun of them. they would unloop the condensed scythe, which looked like a baton, as a warning. if they pushed further their final warning was the glowing magenta spike that would come out of the top after the ‘baton’ elongated. if they continued, they would soon find their sight filled with almost white light near their face and an irate juror at their throat and a demand to shut up before they lose their voice box

once on a mission for zane overseas, the waves were harsh alongside the storm, and couldn’t find the crew when she woke up on a beach. she felt eyes from a nearby palm tree and prepared for a fight. apparently, after the dust had cleared, she had pinned a sprite to the ground on their home island. ivy teleported so she didn’t have their knee on the sprite’s back and scythe in their line of sight. the sprite’s name was teony and almost threw out the intruder, but something told her not to once she heard the fast apologies and offerings from the soaked guest, who’s skin seemed to be steaming slightly. they shook hands and exchanged pleasantries and became fast friends, confiding in each other and sharing stories from their lives
