I randomly passed Hugh on the street in NYC once, said I was a fan and it was nice to see him. He smiled, said thank you and it was nice to see me too - silly but kind thing to say to a stranger. All of five seconds in his presence but his smile felt genuine and I was on top of the world for days.

Every person that I have talked to that has interacted with him said that he was really nice so idk, I haven't actually heard anyone say that he was a jerk to them personally but idk. I have had difficulties finding reports of him being a jerk to people, although I haven't met him personally so I can't make a concrete judgement of his character
