josie watched the flames as they danced in the wind, she'd always loved the solstice bonfire. the snacks and traditions of burning wishes or just things you needed to let go of, all of it felt like home. to have lizzie back made it that much better. klaus's voice took her out of her thoughts, ones of all the women in her life both past and present. rolling her eyes, the siphoner gave him a smirk before shrugging. "tonight, i'll just be observing..." ever since the masquerade, josie couldn't help but be on edge. knowing that if anything there wouldn't be just one event ruined by hunters. "i don't trust anything about this event. normally i love it but...something just doesn't feel right."

klaus mikaelson stood near the bonfire, drink in hand, the flames casting a menacing glow on his face. the air crackled with tension as much as it did with magic. his gaze was sharp, piercing through the merriment around him. a newcomer approached, and klaus's lips twisted into a sardonic smile. "ah, fresh meat," he drawled, his tone dripping with annoyance.
"greeting and salutations" he continued, voice edged with sarcasm. "do try not to get in anyone's way." he took a slow sip of his drink, eyes never leaving the intruder. "it would be such a shame to spoil the evening."

even though tyler hadn't liked the idea of his wife joining the faction, she had. it was helpful that she told him while making him breakfast after a wonderful night, but she could sense his fear each time he looked her way. they knew it wasn't the best idea, but also wanted to make sure they could keep the kids safe. no other demon was going to volunteer and so, while her husband was taking care of a young wolf, she attended a meeting with elena and hayley.
the murders made everyone panic and as of right now, gabbi didn't have many suspects, still trying to scope out who would have the motive to do such things. walking into the bar, the mask gave her a confidence boost, but it also made her job harder. taking a glass of champagne that was being offered on a tray, she took a deep breath and began people watching.
to say a lot was going on, was an understatement. klaus and elijah devised a plan to put charlie in the garden, something they could've only done, while the hybrid had distractions. she had to stuff down the anger towards everyone else and have an actual talk with her son. walking into the room, hayley leaned against the door frame taking the scene in. even while listening to music her son wasn't calm. for a bit now he'd been in a constant state of anxiety and turmoil. it broke her heart to watch him suffer and to know that he was then isolated, made it worse.
walking forward slowly, she waved a few times but he didn't seem to notice. sighing, she then tapped him on the shoulder watching him jump in distress by her touch. placing her hands on her heart, the hybrid sat down next to her son. "i'm so sorry charlie. i had no idea they would do that to you. i know you made a mistake, but you need real help not being placed in some cage."

Charlie Mikaleson sat on the sofa, headphones on, lost in his own thoughts. It had been a few days since his last drink, and the incident with his cousin weighed heavily on his mind. Desperation gnawed at his insides, an intense craving for something to numb the turmoil within him.
He sighed heavily in frustration, unable to shake off the restlessness that plagued him. Lost in his own world, he hadn't realized that his mother had been trying to get his attention until she gently tapped him on the shoulder. If you knew Charlie well, you would see that he was not himself. His usual calm demeanor was replaced by a sense of jumpiness and fidgetiness, a rare sight for those who knew him well.
Despite his best efforts to maintain his composure, Charlie's inner turmoil was evident. The desire for a drink, for any form of escape from his current reality, consumed his thoughts. In that moment, all he wanted was to drown out his worries and find solace in the familiar embrace of alcohol.
josie wasn't normally one to be out in society, often finding herself at home with a good book, or some new gripping television show, but it was a hot day and being near water felt like the perfect getaway. setting out her towel, she placed all her belongings neatly around, before going to grab a drink with a book in hand. by the time she came back, a piña colada in one hand, her sigh covered by the book. unaware of her surroundings, the siphoner sat on someone else's blanket, only to be sucked deeper in the story she read.
it wasn't until an annoyed voice rang in her ears, that she realized she wasn't with her things. looking around with wide eyes, she quickly got up, her cheeks flushing as she apologized. "oh, i'm so sorry, i uhh wasn't paying attention. i got sucked into this book and must've sat on your towel. i'm not wet so it shouldn't be soaked or anything."

the water felt so refreshing, the cool sensation hitting against the new hybrids skin. she felt at peace, the first time in the last month where she had truly felt at peace. everything became an overwhelming feeling and something she had never wanted. she was happy as just a wolf, she could control that just about and now, now she felt as if she had taken five steps backwards. but the swim, it was helping her, everyone of her senses just focusing on the water. the sounds, the feeling, it felt good. finally getting out of the water, an hour after she started her swim, there was a small roll of her eyes for a brief moment. “do you mind, you’re sitting on my towel.” she almost snapped at the person. the sense of calming she had fading almost instantly. god, maybe she should just live in the water and as far away from society as she could.
wovles were shifting on the street, as darkness covered the cobblestone paths, causing hayley to feel a tightness in her chest, glancing around, eyes narrow she attempted to find any familiar faces. the hybrid knew that the moon wasn't meant to be full, so what the hell was going on? making her way down the alleyway, she remained cautious and alert until the sound of elijah's voice sent a calming wave through her brain. "oh believe me, this walk isn't for anyone's safety but our children's." walking to his side she inched closer, always comfortable when the two of them were touching in some way. "have you seen any of them?"
It's never a good sign when the wolves just start shifting like daisies popping up from the ground. He could hear the howls and realized, with no shortness of terror, that his children were out among the rabble. As he walked the streets, eyes scanning for any sign of trouble, he paused as he approached an opening into a field where he saw some of the wolves taking off to the forest. As footsteps approached from behind, Elijah held up his hand. "If I were you, I would strongly caution any midnight strolls through the trees tonight. You may find more trouble than you bargained for."

she watched the emotions flash through his face, his eyes changing in the slightest way each time, but it was so easy for her to notice. shaking her head, eleanor wasn't sure how to explain any of it, still reeling from the journey to get to here. her fingers rubbed under his eyes, heat rising in her body from where his skin met hers. being near him brought all of her senses that were lacking back. shaking her head to his comment, elle smiled softly knowing that this all did seem like a dream. "it's real, i don't know how but it's real. i'm really here." grabbing his hands she placed them on her cheeks, hoping that he would feel the same way she had just moments ago. "see i'm warm."
eleanor wasn't sure if she was okay, every basic need such as water, food and some form of getting clean were required. looking down at her body and then back to nikolas she shrugged. "everything felt so dull until i found you...." she trailed off to see the apartment, realizing no one was actively living in it. there was no life or happiness, only dust and some boxes. ellie's eyes found his again. "nik, i'm so sorry." she admitted, even though there was nothing for her to be sorry for, she still felt a deep sense of guilt. "i just crawled out of a grave and i'm such a mess...."
all she wanted was for him to hold her and never let go. his touched solved so many problems in the past, but could it now? there was no tell of how long she'd been in that coffin. eleanor wasn't even sure if she remembered anything after her death. no heaven waited for her, just the feeling of that he was missing.
" how is this possible ? " he breathed . he had felt an unwavering amount of emotions . nikolas had felt happiness , joy , guilt , worry , love , and grief among other things as his piercing blue eyes searched for an explanation . the sandy blonde male wondered if turning off his emotions meant burying the thing he loved the most . " this can't be real . . this is just all in my head . " he breathed the words to himself , that or i've completely gone mad , he assumed before he felt her hands on his cheekbone .
the words whispered from her lips played on his ears like a symphony as she spoke his name ;; and in that moment he knew the truth . his fiance wasn't some hallucination or some vivid image he had conjured up in his mind . no , she was real , she was alive . " elle . " he whispered . all nikolas wanted to do was pull eleanor into him and hold her tight , but the fear of harming her stayed forefront . " oh , my god , are you okay ? " his questioned as they spoke at the same time , but he heard her question . how long has it been ? she had asked . " too long ?" he found himself staring into her haunting baby blue eyes , afraid more then anything that he would lose her again .
gabriela knew that asher didn't realize whose complaint he was hearing, so she decided to not add too much snark into the reply. "yeah, well last time I checked, I pay a lot of taxes to keep these lights on, so if this is problem due to that, then i'm gonna complain...." trailing off, the demon scanned the streets to notice that something wasn't right. the moon was full, but it wasn't meant to be. "but it isn't, of course it's something more than that. come on, we need to get out of here. the bayou is much safer until we know what is going on." it wasn't often gabbi was happy that their demon abilities caused their kids to become hellhounds, but tonight happened to be the first.
Asher sighed as he heard someone else complaining. "Listen, I get it. Boo, hoo all the lights are out. Go get a candle like everyone else." He told them, exasperated. "Seriously, it's like living in a town full of cry babies. Just don't set any fires I'll have to put out later, that's all I ask. Ya know, aside from the 'stop whining' bit. And play safe. Wax play is for experienced adults."

being a siphoner meant that you sensed everything about another person. there was immense power radiating from the other and from her facial expressions, it was clear something was wrong. yet, josie also understood the reaction, she often pushed others away when needing them the most. a bad habit that got worse after the merge. so instead of insisting that there was a problem, she took a step back and tried another approach.
"there have been murders, all over the city. i think it'd be best if we headed somewhere safer." her voiced sounded a lot more calmer than she actually was.
she was just seeing things, her mind drifting off into the idea that something was going to happen when it wasn’t. yet, the vision she had seen, the vision that made her walk to the alleyway without realising it had dragged her here. “oh…nothing..nothing..” she commented, shaking her head, hoping it would shake the feeling in the pit of her stomach that something would happen.
hearing the other, she nodded her head, scratching the back of her neck. “I’m fine, really I am.” she commented, she was fine, well as fine as someone who kept having nightmares about death. “just..kinda zoned out I guess, didn’t mean to scare you if I did.”
being a new vampire was never easy, the transition took a lot of willpower and determination. something that you're still learning to acquire in your twenties. so hayley had a feeling charlie wasn't handling it well, hearing stories of him spending nights drunk on the street. she wanted to stop him sooner, but also knew how she had been during her transition. it wouldn't matter what someone said, all you want to do is wallow, but she felt her son had done enough of that. her eyes followed the drink, as it passed from the bartender to his lips, the hybrids chest grew heavy. shaking her head softly, she turned to face her son. "no, that's not it. something else is wrong but i can't put my finger on it yet."
honestly none of it really mattered right now, all she cared about was charlie's mental health. "mind if i ask how many drinks you've had tonight?" her voice was soft and gentle, hoping he would understand that she wasn't trying to interrogate. hayley's goal wasn't to make him feel bad, instead to just get a tiny glimpse into what was going on in his mind.
Charlie shrugged his shoulders at the sound of his mother's voice behind him. Observing the lively crowd engaged in conversation and dancing to the music, he acknowledged that the sole reason for his presence was the allure of free alcohol. His mask proved to be a valuable shield, concealing his emotions as he seamlessly merged with the festive atmosphere. "People are having too much fun," he quietly mumbled while accepting a drink from the bartender. Aware that his response may not have been what his mother expected, he felt indifferent towards her opinion at that moment.
it was often that josie would see her twin sister in a crowd, only to blink and realize it was her mind playing tricks, because of course she wasn't actually there. yet, each time she closed her eyes tightly to re-open them, lizzie still managed to be standing there only feet away. "what the..." she trailed off, her whole face growing warm which was met with an icy chill. the whole thing was overstimulating and it didn't take long for the panic to bubble from her stomach into her chest.
the remark made her scowl, the same way she would before the merge. "elizabeth saltzman you can't seriously be risen from the dead and shocked that me of all people are staring." running to her twin, she hugged her tightly, not even waiting for the other to adjust. to hold lizzie near caused tears to fill josie's eyes. "is it really you?" with the way her life had been lately, she wouldn't be shocked if this was some sick joke.

she was enjoying the feeling of being alive, herself trying to ignore the feeling of uneasiness that was felt through ever bone and vein in her body. eyes closed, head tilted upwards, trying to catch the sun rays against her face. “you know, if you took a picture, it would last longer.” lizzie remarked, opening her eyes to look at the other.
she hummed softly as his fingers raked gently through her hair, his touch made her feel so needy. tyler was always someone she always yearned for. the moment they met, it seemed as if they were drawn together by fate. gabi viewed the man before her as a saving grace. their first interaction changed the very course of her life. their eyes darted from each others lips and back, as if they were waiting to see who would cave first.
once their lips touched, gabriela pulled his waist closer to hers. it was passionate and deep, causing her lips to linger for a few moments. she missed this. his skin against hers, the way he held on so firmly and yet it still felt so gentle. as their lips parted, gabi's eyes remained closed, a plan formulating in her head of what might happen for the rest of the night. a smirk rose on her lips before eyelids fluttered back open. "i have an idea, how about you tell me more and i show you more." a devlish grin replaced the smirk, as her forehead rested on his. "there aren't any kids here tonight and as much as i want to skip the conversation and go straight to our bedroom, the way your voice sounded on the phone is still playing in my mind." placing a hand gently on his cheek, she pulled back a bit, taking in his facial features. "so you tell me what's bothering you and then maybe i can help ease that worried brain of yours."
giving her husband a wink, she then began the process of making them drinks. keeping close to his body, unable to stay away too much since he had been gone for a few days already. maddison was spending some time with a friend, needing space after a failed test and gabi wanted to ask more questions, but knew that first emotions had to settle.
"is that so . " he breathed lightly when his wife confessed to being codependent when it came to him . " well i promise not to hold it against you . " he teased his love sparingly , but the truth was tyler couldn't breath until he saw gabriela again . when he was gone he felt himself going through the motions . he took his duties as a pack leader seriously but regardless of his duties there was one duty that trumped it all for him ;; and that was her . gabriela was not just his wife but she was his world .
while her arms draped around his waist his hand moved gently through her hair , as he looked down to meet her gaze . he watched her eyes dance around as she tried to take in his features . a smile surfaced as he admired hers . she was sweet and her touch was heavenly to the wolf . tyler had loved before but this was different . he had desired all of her , the good , the bad and everything in between . for tyler this was beyond love , perhaps an escape definition that didn't exist until them . gabriela had spoken about debriefing over drinks and that was definitely on his itinerary but not before pulling her in for a kiss . his lips pressed against hers softly , but deeply . his hand moved to couple her face as his lips caressed hers . he kissed her passionately , breathing her in gently as if she was the oxygen keeping him alive . tyler leaned his head against hers after their lips parted . " i just needed to do that first . " he confessed . " maybe we're both codependent . " he teased as his brown hues found hers .
