Okay but on a serious note Con O'Neill ate in these first few episodes and left no fucking crumbs. Last season we ended on deranged Izzy; now we have an Izzy realizing how toxic things can really get and WISHING he could go back to the days when he was the only proper pirate among muppets. And he's TRYING so damn hard and it would be so easy to play that in a cheesy or insincere manner, but we have Con O'Neill swinging for the fences, crying, begging for death, disheveled, trying to undo everything he did to get us all in this mess and failing and looking both miserable and delighted in his misery because he's getting what he thinks he deserves.

And YET we also get the subtle tear in the eye when Stede finds out what they really did to Ed. Like. You can feel how utterly heartbroken the man is just from a glimmer in the corner of his eye.

Love Izzy, hate Izzy, it really doesn't matter, not when he's played so magnificently by Con, and I salute him for everything he's doing in this campy gay pirate show.

It´s been a hot second since I last saw season 1 so I have absolutely no clue whether the whole Samurai X thing started before or after they took Lloyd in but for the sake of this comic, let´s pretend that it´s possible that Nya got the Samurai idea from Lloyd because I think it´s cute

Also, I NEED more content of the Lloyd & Nya friendship specifically. Especially bc they must have such a special bond due to them both being left out or at least joining the "main 4" later on. I think even later when they´re both fully integrated in the team that they´re especially close and this never changes. I´m sorry I am so emotional about them, these two mean so much to me AAAAHH

Mild Across the Spiderverse spoilers but one thing that’s particularly neat about Hobie Brown/Spider-Punk (besides him having one of the coolest animation styles in a film filled with cool animation styles) was how he seems to have deliberately played into the stereotype of a punk (careless guy who breaks important stuff for shits and giggles) as the means to deceive figures of authority & get the tech he needed to be genuinely punk (anti-authoritarian, DIY, non-conformity, no selling out).

Ooh, what a waste of army dreamers" I've recently been watching some war films for research purposes for a short film project I'm hoping to complete by the end of the year, of course, All Quiet on the Western Front is my favorite movie, I've seen the 1930s one before but never gotten around to the 2022 one.It's possibly one of my favorite films ever and I've never sobbed as much, I've brought the book as well and will be reading it over the week. Volker Bertelmann will pay for my therapy bills because this movie's score is hauntingly beautiful and fills me with such grief. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it <3

Okay, but OFMD Gang playing D&D during downtime would be both hilarious and chaotic?

Lucius DMs because he's second most literate and Stede can't be trusted mediating that much detail all at once. That and also he draws everyone's characters.

Everyone has varying levels of low INT except for Izzy and Oluwande who have a surprisingly high WIS.

Black Pete is a bad ass half orc fighter turned wholesome by the gang and keeps on trying to cheat by wooing Lucius to give him more stat points.

Buttons is an old goblin druid with seagull familiar. Nobody is sure wtf he does. Possibly witch. Maybe sorcerer. They try not to question it since the guy's good at keeping watch.

Frenchie is clearly a Bard and Supports with shields and distractions in combat. Passives in rogue/thief. High charisma.

Roach has vicious elf energy, has heal passives via cooking/meals. Mains as rogue just for stat buffs, but can dual wield as a fighter.

Jim is half-elf and strictly rogue. High DEX. Intimidation buffs through the roof. Skills are buffed by Oluwande by their side.

Oluwande has big wholesome healer energy. Deff neutral good, but has a mace and will fuck you up. He's a bit of a sadistic healer since he won't res unless you tell him what you've learned from your mistakes. Can and will let the Tank die if they run too far ahead.

Wee John & Swede have Barbarian energy. Swede's an Aasimar that's 2sweet4thisrealm. Wee John has subtle Half-Orc (or Dwarf?) vibes with a resistance to fire.

Izzy's a halfling rogue and only here because he was threatened by Stede and Ed bonding, but eventually likes the game and helps Lucius with dungeon builds. Gets put in time out because he's being too critical about the game.

Ivan and Fang are Fighters with Monk and Barbarian passives on both sides. They do great chain combos with Izzy if they get to throw him.

Ed is a half-elf rogue turned sorcerer that has not only devoted himself to the eldritch God known as Kröken, but has mastered the magical class known as Fuckery (Illusion/charisma buffs).

Stede is also half elf (or probably fully human) mage that has stupidly high luck and keeps on rolling Nat 20s which pisses everyone off.
