This is my discomfort character I want to see them in unimaginable pain

I've always wondered why I and so many others crave to see our favourite characters bloodied and beaten to near death, choking on vomit, collapsing to the floor in what may seem like senseless torture but may actually be some sort of coping mechanism, and I have thought of a few reasons.

You crave the vulnerability that comes with physical and/or mental trauma.

It's not the whump itself, but rather the comfort that comes after it. Fainting and waking up to worried faces, wet cloths and hushed whispers of a family that you yourself will never experience so you project it onto a fictional character. You just want to be seen and taken care of.

You're suffering from a physical/ mental illness and want some form of comfort or solidarity.

If you write, you revel in the control you have over another where you have no control in reality.

If you write, you're expressing your own inner pain through writing.

You want to feel something.

You're just horny in the sex-repulsed way and whump is your smut (?? What does this even mean)

Caretaking prompts for when Whumpee trusts nobody except one person (Caretaker)? 🥺

oooh this is such a good trope.

Obviously, there’s always “make that one person unavailable to them so they have to make due with the others, making them scared and upset.” Caretakers who just have to keep reassuring a delirious whumpee who keeps forgetting that their trusted person isn’t there. 

Or, if you want a much darker version, whumpee forgetting that caretaker is dead and has been for some time. The team not having the heart to tell them that, so they just keep promising that caretaker is on their way just to get them to relax.

Caretaker finding out that whumpee is sick or hurt and rushing back as fast as they can knowing that whumpee isn’t going to be able to rest until they’re reunited.

Whumpee struggling to get up and not settling down until caretaker takes their hand and soothes them, which makes them instantly relax. 

If you want a little carewhumpee action: carewhumpee is sick or injured, too, but won’t stop and rest until whumpee is recovered, leading to them worsening their own condition.

I don't have any coherent thoughts of how I want to whump him at the moment. I just need to shake him in my mouth like a chew toy.
