I like when people like a character so way too much that it transcends even self shipping or kinning and becomes more of a patron saint that you pray to type of deal

Oh look it's 'thinking about Spock' time again...

Rewatched A Piece Of The Action with my siblings and they were very amused at the amount of spirk there was

First there’s Spock trying to Spare Kirk’s feelings over how bad of a driver he is (feelings are illogical unless they’re my husbands feelings)

Then we have a series of completely logical and emotionless reactions from Spock

‘Why is this man touching my husband?’

‘WHY is my husband touching this man? Right in front of me’

Then his look to McCoy after ‘ah, no need for concern, he’s getting me a suit too’

Spock realizing he was kinda into it when Kirk started ordering him around

Then Kirk’s reaction to Spock copying him is also adorable of course

This one’s a bonus since it isn’t really spirk, I just love how Kirk’s master plan was distracting them for a minute and then flipping the table. Spock reacts immediately, naturally, and then it’s all topped off by McCoy executing a beautiful neck chop

All around perfect episode, loved it from start to finish

i think its just me but it feels like Kirk(tos) is always making this..face filled with something i cant describe but its alot of it

just casually too nothing even big happening, you could be cleaning the toilet in front of him and he'd be making this big melty sunshine puppy dumb face

I got this for Christmas. Here are some highlights.

Seriously, enough with the Spock/Chapel thing!! It was mentioned like once in TOS and was basically unrequited on Spock’s side, but here it’s reversed: Spock wants Chapel and she doesn’t want him. Also, why do we lean so heavily into Spock’s romantic life and not WHO HE IS AS A CHARACTER? In the process, it’s changing fundamental aspects of who he is. Spock is a human and a Vulcan, but SNW is just playing it like he’s a human with some Vulcan tendencies. It’s like the inverse of the AOS movies.

There was one SNW episode where they kinda address that he’s not acting like Spock (where he starts smiling), but it’s just dismissed so so fast as Spock « embracing who he really is, » like his Vulcan culture/identity is a prison. Not to play the autism card, but since Spock is a character many autistic people identify with, removing that relatability and then treating it like it’s better for him to be « normal » than to be himself is SO SO WRONG.

All this to say, I think SNW actually does a very good job with a lot of things. Even other ways they characterize Spock are very effective, especially his relationship with Uhura. But COME ONNNNN
