As I'm doing my sweep to make sure I've gotten all the curses and insults in dragon age, I was curious how many times certain common curses and insults (and any variation of them) were used in the games specifically.

the template is here in case anyone is interested šš
The template contains a .psd file and a blank transparent .png version with separate icons for people who can't access the .psd
Feel free to edit it to better suit your needs! ( the "personality traits" for exemple could be changed to other better suited words for your Oc, you do you )
HUGE thanks to @pinkyjulien's Extrated DAtv folder ! all the icons I used came from it !

my goal is to collect all the rooks like pokemons so i can become the ultimate Rook masterā¢
Love it when mages/spellcasters in stories have slightly otherworldly traits. Unnatural eye colors/pupil shapes, unusual skin tones/hues, sharp/animal like teeth, nails, or ears, fur/horns/scales/feathers where they'd normally have none, etc.
Warden Mahariel. Champion of Kirkwall. Inquisitor Lavellan.
The hands of our heroes.
on a second DA:I playthrough iām noticing so much more foreshadowing in companion/advisor dialogue of how cadash/adaar/lavellan/tracelyan as a person HAS to be obliterated by the inquisition as a political, religious, and narrative force and the title of inquisitor.
mother giselle tells you from the beginning it doesnāt matter what you believe about being/not being the herald; you are an icon to the common people and the chantry.
josephine tells you after the truth about āandrasteā/justinia is revealed in the fadeāit doesnāt matter what you saw or felt, only what is remembered collectively.
dorian tells you if you ask to go with him to tevinterāyou can never undo being the inquisitor, and would take away his agency just by being there.
varric tells you in haven that youāre a tragic hero, and asks at the wicked grace game if there is still a āyouā separate from the inquisitor.
solas tells you in skyhold, if you tell him you intend to disband the inquisition, that the power youāve amassed canāt be destroyed, and will only pass to less worthy hands if you relinquish it.
and all of that is just off the top of my head and comes up before ameridanās name is ever mentioned.
and itās all been said before but like! fuck! truth is the game was rigged from the start! youāve been COOKED, inquisitor! YOU CAN NEVER GO HOME! itās so fucking good

House of the Dragon / Season Two Episode Eight
One aspect of the Dragon Age series that Iāve always found odd is the way in which rather crucial political and historical context surrounding major conflicts the player must decide tends to be relegated to codices, outside materials (e.g., books), and optional dialogue with minor characters⦠meaning that many if not most players donātĀ seem to end up actually seeing it. Ā Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts (Dragon Age Inquisition) in particular has become somewhat notorious for what it left out, but itās far from unusual.
With regard to Dragon Age II, thereās a popular perception among fans that the troubles in Kirkwall can be attributed almost entirely to rogue behavior on the part of Knight-Commander Meredith and various evil blood mages. Ā This is understandable given the overall narrative framing and Biowareās aforementioned problem of making key context very easy to miss. Ā But once we take a look at the full picture, it ought to be clear that the Chantry did not simply āfailā in their responsibilities towards the mages or towards the citizens of Kirkwall more broadly ā they actively created and maintained the very nightmare they later professed to be dismayed about.
Moreover, despite the running Mages vs. Templars theme, the mages were hardly the only oneās who suffered under Meredithās rule. Indeed, Kirkwall endured a brutal 16-year-long dictatorship (9:21-9:37 Dragon) that came into being courtesy of the Chantry and the Orlesian empire and only fell due to the mage rebellion.
Here Iāll describe in detail (with sources and citations) the story of how the Chantry turned Kirkwall into a police state and one that ultimately descended into what the writers themselves termed āgenocide.ā Ā
