Ghost on the Couch: Danny makes a deal with Maddie to attend eight sessions of therapy.

Danny stared out the passenger side window and crossed his arms.

“You’ll like this therapist, Danny,” said Maddie as she drove through the rush hour traffic. “Dad and I met with him earlier today.”

Danny kept his body turned from her.

“He definitely knows what he’s doing,” continued Maddie. “You can just tell from talking to him. And he’s also got this full head of fluffy blond hair straight out of the eighties.” She sighed dreamily.

“Yes,” said Danny, still looking out the window. “Because good hair is so important in therapy.”

Maddie was quiet for some time. Danny tightened his folded arms against him.

“Danny, I know you’re unsure about this—”

“I’m not unsure. I definitely don’t want to do this.”

“I know. But I really think this could help you.”

Danny glanced at her with just his eyes before turning to face forward. “I just don’t understand,” he said, looking down at his lap. “Do you…think something’s wrong with me?”

most of all I want the actors to be young because I want them to really hit us with the fact that these are little kids. that these are elementary schoolers fighting for their lives every day, and that they lose way too often. in the movies we saw adults acting as teenagers and thought nothing of it, that's every movie these days. but I want the pjo show to show us an 12 year old trying desperately to kill medusa. I want them to show us a seven year old annabeth, a first grader, running away from home and ready to fight of a hellhound the size of a dump truck with a hammer. I want to see percy, fresh out of grade 9 and looking it, going straight from a day at the beach with his friend to a life-or-death war mission where not everyone makes it out. I want an adaptation where being a demigod is cool, yeah, but it's also awful because percy is five foot nothing with still chubby cheeks and he's being told it's not likely he'll live to graduate high school.
