I’ve been getting quite a few asks about the process for the patterns in my stylized artworks, so I decided to put together a couple of tips regarding them.
Firstly, what you need are
Most of the patterns I use are custom brushes I made, such as those:
For the longest time I was convinced making brushes must be super extra complicated. I was super extra wrong. All you need to start is a transparent canvas (2500px x 2500px max):
This will be your brush tip. When you’re satisfied how it looks, click Ctrl+A to select the whole canvas and go to ‘define brush preset’ under the edit menu
You will be asked to name your new glorious creation. Choose something that describes it well, so you can easily find it between all the ‘asfsfgdgd’ brushes you’ve created to be only used once
This is it. Look at it, you have just created a photoshop brush. First time i did I felt like I was cheated my whole life. IT’S SO EASY WHY HASN’T ANYONE TOLD ME
Time to edit the Good Boi to be more random, so it can be used as a Cool Fancy Pattern. Go into brush settings and change whatever you’d like. Here’s a list of what I do for patterns:
- under Shape Dynamics, I increase Size Jitter and Angle jitter by 5%-15%
- under Brush Tip Shape, I increase spacing by a shitload. Sometimes it’s like 150%, the point is to get the initial brush tip we painted to be visible.
- If I want it to look random and noisy, I enable the Dual Brush option, which acts like another brush was put on top of the one we’ve created. You can adjust all of the Dual Brush options (Size, Spacing, Scatter, Count) as you wish to get a very nice random brush to smear on your backgrounds
The result is as above. You can follow the same steps to create whatever brush you need: evenly spaced dots that look like you painted them by hand, geometric pattern to fill the background, a line of perfectly drawn XDs and so on.
BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE
But what if you want to get lots of circles made of tiny dots? Or you need rows of triangles for your cool background? Photoshop can do all of that for you, thanks to the magic of paths.
Typically, paths window can be found right next to Layers:
Draw whatever path you want, the Shape Tool has quite a bit of options. Remember, paths are completely different from brush strokes and they won’t show up in the navigator. To move a path around, click A to enable path selection tool. You can use Ctrl+T to transform it, and if you move a path while pressing Alt it will be duplicated.
Now, pick a brush you wish really was in place of that path you’ve drawn and go to layers, then choose the layer you want it to be drawn on. Then, click this tiny circle under the Paths window:
Then witness the magic of photoshop doing the drawing for you while you wonder how tf have you managed to forget about this option for the past 2 years
You can combine special brushes and paths for all sorts of cool effects. I mostly use them in backgrounds for my cards, but you can do whatever you want with them.
I hope that answers the questions for all of the people who were sending me inquires about the patterns. If you have any questions regarding this or any other Photoshop matter feel free to message me, I’m always up for complaining about how great and terrible Photoshop is C’:

They are so cute I’m gonna die
- All Ghost Rider hosts suffer from intense insomnia. When the Rider is in full control the host is often forced into a relaxed state within the void of their shared mind-space, and when they come to they find they don’t need to sleep much at all. So, they just take cat-naps at random.
Robbie doesn’t suffer from this since his possessing vengeful spirit isn’t a true Rider.
- Hosts of Riders don’t eat much. When you spend a lot of your time as a walking skeleton on fire with no stomach to speak of, food isn’t a big priority.
- Riders are fiercely protective of their host. For some Riders it’s almost an obsession. For the safety and well being of the host echos the well being of the Rider. If the host is in any emotional or physical distress - even if it’s a small insignificant issue - the Rider will be far more prone to act even more aggressively than normal, and will gladly act out that vengeful aggression on the person(s) responsible 100 fold.
- A Riders and Hosts personality tend to merge a small fraction. Johnny and Zarathos both crack their knuckles / wrists. Danny and Noble talk very similarly.
- There are some techniques Riders learn from each other. Zarathos learned how to do the Penance Stare from Noble, and Noble learned how to summon his ride with hellfire from Zarathos.
- The biggest hint that Riders are not truly demonic is the fact that Devil Traps and holy water have no effect on them. Riders can easily pass over a salt line or a devil trap with no problems, and holy water just makes them wet and even more pissy.
- Following the Riders protective nature toward their host; when it comes time to switch back the Rider tries to find the safest place possible for their host to wake up in. Noble always goes to the cemetery of his awakening. Zarathos, however, is a bit half-assed about it mostly because he finds it amusing as hell to screw with Blaze by leaving him in weird places.
- Riders are mainly solitary because of their highly aggressive nature they tend to be very domineering. However, they enjoy being in the company of other Riders rare more so than any other sentient creature.
- When Riders first met each other they immediately know their hosts name, their Riders name, age, where they are from, and how they became a Rider all without speaking a word.
- Ghost Riders are highly in-tune with their senses, but tends to rely on their sense of smell most. They can detect innocent blood being spilled and the scent of a sinners soul long before the Rider is even close to seeing them.
- Riders and their Host posses a kind of ESP that lets them know of supernatural/magical activity before it happens. This also bleeds over to the host and makes the host know of the supernatural or of a persons sins. This ability also lets them know when another Rider has powered up even if they are across the planet. NOTE: The riders must know each other very well for this to happen.

Somewhat belated entry for day 14 of @symbruary - Favorite fanworks!
If I tried to do a pic for all of the amazing, wonderful fics I’ve read, I would never get anything else done ever :’D So I tried to narrow it down to the ones that have stuck with me for months and months after first reading them. Been meaning to draw fanart for these for ages, so this was a great opportunity!
FYI before clicking links: all of these are Mature/Explicit
Dust to Dust by amaronith, kitausuret (@kitausuret, @amaronith)
Slow-burn SymbiOT3 fic that I absolutely adore. I love how it takes Eddie and Flash a while to even see each other face to face! There’s so much drama and fun dialogue, and Andi is an absolute gem. The plot itself is super interesting, and I can’t wait to see how it interweaves with Flash and Eddie getting to know each other better.
I think I’m starting to like you by softgrungeprophet (@softgrungeprophet)
Yet another SymbiOT3, this is the first in the Peachy series! The series as a whole is wonderful, and the character development for all three is beautiful. Especially Flash coming to terms with gender identity stuff! The series always gives me such a warm cozy feeling reading it.
How I Met my Brother and Regretted Everything by Prince_of_Trash (@princess-of-peachtrees)
To be completely 100% honest, I did not care at all about Carnage as a character before reading this fic. Now I fucking love him and his rat-bastard self. AND RED, OH MY GOD RED. This fic has one of my favorite characterizations of Sleeper, and is an absolutely hysterical ride. Even with the funny setup, tho, it still does a great job of hammering home the sadder scenes with amazing skill.
The Dangers of Investigative Journalism by NecroFaix (@fictionplumis)
SymbiOT3, but this time with Movie!Eddie! The characterizations in this fic are fantastic, and I especially love how much it delves into Flash’s head (the angst is delicious). The pacing is phenomenal, and the progression of Eddie and Flash’s relationship feels incredibly natural in a way that makes me feel for them and their beloved goo alien when anything goes wrong.
All of these are fics that I love to go back to for inspiration, or just a fun time! I highly recommend checking out all of these wonderful authors and their other works as well!
Obviously there are also fantastic artists in our fandom ( @d-erm, @owlapinart, and @freedomconvicted to name a few!) I’d list them all but others have wonderfully done that already, so I suggest perusing the rec lists I’ve reblogged because we have so many incredible people providing quality Venom content <3

this is what happens when you mix my otp with a cloverfield-inspired thriller genre –> me, hastily trying to capture the scenes that ooze with poetic cinema. this is a non paid ad on my part to urge you good folks to read irishgrlnextdoor’s fic, spoilers notwithstanding!
