cursed practice
Made this for a friend who needed some help with fire animation, figured it might be useful to someone else
this is how I approach any fire animation I do timing-wise and design wise. if I am doing something more cartoony I will use shapes that are suited to more flowing smooth transitions and a nice graphic look, if I am animating more realistically I will use more chaotic timing and a design that works better with the slight motion blur I always apply to realistic fire. real fire doent flow nice and smooth like water or smoke when viewed at real-time
I almost always animate fire on 1′s, though the cartoony fire can work on 2′s, you just have to be more careful of pops.
you can also animate more realistic fire with a slower timing, you wouldn’t want the above fire in the background of a calm scene. this is just an example using an extreme case.
Hope this helps someone who is struggling to rough animate fire that fits their specific style and scene timing.
everybody’s scared so dance in the dark
d-dance in the dark
Steve entered the room, it was neatly decorated, red velvet was streamed amongst the walls—the tables had wine glasses lined up around said tables, and a vase filled with flowers, Steve smiled a little.
Besides the decorations—people were crowded, chatting up a storm, Steve scanned the room to find Peggy, amongst the sea of people—he couldn’t find her.
A pang of disappointment washed over the blonde. He sighed both a mixture of frustration and disappointment.
His eyes laid on a brunette, at the corner of the room, he stood out from most. (partly because there was no one there—plus no one was sitting at that table.) Steve walked over to the male, to get a closer look.
The guy was around his age, a mop of brown hair partly obscured his vision, he had to keep brushing his bangs out of the way—which Steve found…cute. Heat rushed to Steve’s face immediately, he hoped the stranger didn’t see. After a few minutes of just standing there, the blonde finally moved over to the person in question.
He noticed the brunette was fiddling with something on his wrist…some sort of gadget, was he also a hero? Steve quickly pushed the thought out of his head.
The blonde cleared his throat to get the others attention.
The young man perked his head up in response.
“Care to dance?” Steve asked, with his hand outstretched.
The man smiled.
“I’d be charmed.”
The young man stood up and took Steve’s hand.
Steve led the other to the dance floor.
“I assume you’re Steve Rogers?” The stranger asked.
“I am.” Steve replied—a hint of shock in his voice.
The brunette chuckled,
“It’s kind of obvious, blonde hair, blue eyes—it’s not that hard to tell.”
The other wrapped his arms around Steve’s neck.
“I’m Peter Parker, by the way.” The man introduced.
Steve wrapped his arms around the other’s waist, slowly dancing to the song that was playing.
Everything happened in a quick succession, Peter’s lips connected with his own, it was short but sweet, Steve closed his eyes—and if the blonde had to admit, the brunette was a pretty good kisser, unlike himself.
The shorter man broke the kiss.
“See you around, Captain.” Peter whispered.
He felt Peter’s hands slip away from his neck, the warmth he felt disappeared—only then it was just a lingering feeling.
When Steve opened his eyes,
Peter was gone.
The words Peter had whispered echoed in his head
‘See you around, Captain.’

Guys. Jesus. I don’t know if this in anyway pertains to Hazbin but-
I was rewatching the newest Hazbin clip (thank-you vivziepop!) and I love that we got to see a glimpse of Charlie’s (possible) parents.
(Angel Dust just casually succin away)
And of course Alastor was an immense pleasure (that voice!!)
But back to Charlie’s parents. There’s a little speculation on whether or not the man depicted in the portrait is, in fact, Satan but given the apple symbolism we see throughout the hotel, it can be assumed (for now) that the dude in the picture is Satan.
(The forbidden fruit the “serpent” tempts Adam and Eve into eating.)
That’s all fine and well, but then I saw something else in the pictures hanging in the hall: Charlie’s mom. Lillith.
(ft. Alastor cuz I can)
Now given how much symbolism we see with the Apples, I got curious and wanted to know what the significance of Lillith was and…
You guys…
And in a few interpretations of the Ascension of Isaiah, Samael is often identified as Malkira, from Hebrew meaning “king of evil”! And, due to likely influences by the Quran, Samael is also equated as the serpent in Genesis, having disapproved the creation of man from dust Samael descended from heaven to seduce Adam and Eve to eat the forbidden fruit.
BUT WAIT! There’s more!
Now I’m not saying Charlie’s not theirs (the resemblances to her parents are striking enough) but I’m also not not saying that either! It’d explain why she’s different from other demons.
Also, beneath the family portrait we see “Magne Family, 1871”. I couldn’t figure out that significance until I put the names together.
Charlie Magne. Charlemagne. English translation “Charles the Great”.
(Charlemagne was a Frankish ruler in the 770’s til the 800’s who is known as the first recognized Emperor of Western Europe since the fall of the Western Roman Empire three centuries prior. He was also notibly known for uniting much of western and central Europe in the Early Middle Ages which prompted the furst Carolingian Renaissance, a time of cultural activity and cultural reinvention).
(Again, this could in no way pertain to any aspect of Hazbin Hotel and I could be spouting nonsense but man, this shit’s practically poetry! I hope we get to see some background on this.)
tl;dr: Charlie the Great has the archangel Samael (Satan) for a Dad and a child-snatching hussie named Lillith for a Mom.
I’ll see myself out of the Hotel now.
