Just finished reading Lord of the Flies for class, and, like, omg????
I have a love-hate relationship with the book. I like the concept, sure. And the characters, the happenings and plot.
But, I found Golding’s prose too.. ugh.. long and winded, kind of? I’m not really a huge fan of his writing, that’s what I’m tryna get at. And doing stuff for it for English class swung my bias in an unfair way.
Either way, I still really like it. Might see some reblogs relating to it. My favs were Piggy and Simon. Samneric too, kinda.
And… uhhh… wdym that I kinda ship Piggy and Ralph?????? 😭
WOW WHO SAID THAT
Here's my take. I do NOT like Jalph. I do NOT like them being a couple. I genuinely feel bad for that dynamic. BUT I do like the friendship between Ralph and Jack. Like... You know... I like the idea of them treating each other like brothers. I like the rivalry between them, but also the rare moments where they're willing to cooperate. You know. When Ralph gives Jack a friendly shove on the shoulder and they both giggle. Or when Jack calls Ralph a wimp and Ralph calls Jack a pain in the ass. They tease each other, they're in a constant state of resistance, but there are also moments where their interests collide and they're willing to compromise. I... I genuinely want to see that kind of NON-ROMANTIC intimacy represented.
