i've been thinking about this au lately,,

if doodling all day was ilegal i would go to jail i think

I don't think many people realize how much they've been turned into a bunch of casually cynical jerks.

Someone may come to their parents and say "I want to write a book" and their parents will say "it's really hard to get published".

Someone might confide in their sibling and say "I want to sell my art on "x" platform" and that sibling will say "do you know how many people you'd be competing with? Do you know how many shops are even on that platform?"

I know a kid who once told his best friend "I think I wanna start a dnd podcast" and the friend was like "do you know what the word "oversaturation" means?"

Personally, I don't know why any of that matters? And even if it did, perhaps your response should be "Do it! Do it and see where it goes!"

Little headcanon time with Horror

Since Horror lived through a litteral famine he knows what hunger feels like and what damage malnourishment can cause, so when he started to get attached to his teammates after starting to work for Nightmare he made it his mission to make sure no one would ever be hungry ! It's a tough job as all four of Nightmare, Cross, Killer and Dust have VERY bad eating habits (Nightmare eating anything without any regard as to if it's edible since he lived outside all his childhood, Cross having a very strict diet and excessive training sessions, Killer forgetting to eat because depending on the stage he's on he can't feel when he's hungry, Dust straight up refusing to eat as a form of self punishment for his sins, ... )

So he makes sure they eat regularly and in good quantity

Now, that's cute, but as you know I love adding a little angst, SO

Horror having aphasia, he has trouble finding the right words, and often messes up by saying something that comes off as mean when really he was being nice

The one he watches the most is Dust as he is the most difficult to get to eat, and he would sometimes look at him and go "you gained weight", which Dust doesn't appreciate because he is already having a hard time appreciating himself, and these commentaries actually make him want to eat less, so it's an infinite spiral of eating, gaining weight, not eat anymore, losing weight, eating, ... etc

But the thing is

Horror didn't say it to be rude, he said it because he is genuinely happy that Dust gained weight, because to him weight means that he has a healthy eating habit, that he is not hungry and doesn't restrain himself from eating when hungry like he used to do

But now Dust is sad and he won't eat anymore and Horror doesn't know what went wrong because he was doing so good ! But it's okay, he'll take care of him and help him gain a little more weight, just like he does for everyone

Horror's dream is really seeing everyone being a little chubby, not obese as he knows obesity isn't good either, but he wants to see them gain a little weight, as a proof they aren't hungry, as a reminder that the famine is over and everyone is alright

Because he loves them so much

Imagine nightmare visiting the ruined village from years ago that he caused, he walks around the rubble and sees a poorly grown tree that’s probably Wilted and crackling, he sees 6 year old dreams face poorly molded in the surface of the bark, probably resembling a horrified expression and the only thing nightmare could even muster is

“you really do look like your mother, you know?“

Thinking about Sans Aus as fairytales. Current obsession is Nightmare and the Star Sanses, Three Little Pigs style plotline.

Nightmare is the wolf, but I really think the Star Sanses could each be any of the three pigs, respectively - depending on what personality they are given by the person telling the tale.

For examples:

Ink;

Ink as Straw pig: An agent of chaos. Just throws caution to the wind and is more interested in seeing how things can play out.

Ink as Stick pig: More cautious with a stronger sense of self-preservation. Still curious and perhaps a little interested in seeing things go to hell.

Ink as Brick pig: No interest in letting a risk slip through for entertainment. Takes his role as the protector very seriously and puts the safety of himself and his friends above all else.

Swap;

Swap as Straw pig: Naïve and trusting. Oblivious to the danger that his blind sense of trust can bring.

Swap as Straw pig: Usually on guard, but tries his best to see the good in people, even if they are only showing him the bad.

Swap as Brick pig: Protective and cautious. Understands the dangers of being too trusting, but also understands when to let someone in.

Dream;

Dream as Straw pig: Still sees Nightmare as the brother he once had. Will do anything to get that brother back, even if it means putting himself in danger.

Dream as Stick pig: Hopeful that Nightmare will come around one day, but aware that day may never come. He protects himself but takes chances to try and reach out, even if he fails over and over.

Dream as Brick pig: Knows his brother is never coming back. May or may not have accepted that fact, but knows that he needs to distance himself from the idea that whatever Nightmare is now, he is not to be trusted.

My personal favourites are Straw Ink, Stick Dream, and Brick Blue, but any combination works really. Anyway, thanks for reading my ramble.
