There was a website called StumbleUpon. You clicked a button and you'd get redirected to some random website on the Internet ran by some random person about some random thing or community. https://t.co/6hoZA5hs4g

"There's no hope for the future." And that's how they felt during the Atomic Age, during the World Wars, during the Enlightenment Revolutions, during thr plagues, during the Viking raids, during the fall of Rome.

Yet, we persisted.

I’d like to share this Tumblr tool with everyone. You give it a Tumblr URL, and it identifies the most popular posts (by note count) for each month in your history. It was quite useful for determining which comics to reblog for a “best of” week.

Note: To have it also include posts from 2013, click ‘advanced options’ and use the checkbox for 2013. It’s an old tool, which is a bit embarassing for Tumblr. Why isn’t this functionality built into the Tumblr interface?

Have any song requests for someone who's favorite genres are heavy rock and electro swing?

Yeah listen to The Avalanches until you get that whole “electro swing” thing outta your system and then vibe to some King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard with the album 'Polygondwanaland'

People who use the word “literally“ for something that can’t be literal is the reason I want man kind to be extinct.

I’ve seen a lot of curious people wanting to dive into classical music but don’t know where to start, so I have written out a list of pieces to listen to depending on mood. I’ve only put out a few, but please add more if you want to. hope this helps y’all out. :)

if you need to sleep:

moonlight sonata

swan lake

corral nocturne

sleep (eric whitacre) (added by thelonecomposer)

if you need to wake up:

1812 overture

symphony no. 5, finale (tchaikovsky) (added by viola-ology)

and if you really just hate classical music in general:

a lot of these pieces apply in multiple categories, but I sorted them by which I think they match the most. have fun exploring classical music!

also, thank you to viola-ology, iwillsavemyworld, shayshay526, eternal-cadenza, tropicalmunchakoopas, shadowraven45662, and thelonecomposer for adding on! if you would like to add on your own suggestions, please reblog and add on or message me so I can give you credit for the suggestion!

“People who didn’t live pre-Internet can’t grasp how devoid of ideas life in my hometown was. The only bookstores sold Bibles the size of coffee tables and dashboard Virgin Marys that glowed in the dark. I stopped in the middle of the SAT to memorize a poem, because I thought, This is a great work of art and I’ll never see it again.”

— Mary Karr, The Art of Memoir No 1 (via elesheva)
