Your humpday reminder: Abby could bench press Joel and still have room for more plates.
This woman could drag this snowmobile back to camp if she wanted. Strap some skids to her boots and she becomes the damn snowmobile.
But Abby Anderson would never, ever physically abuse you in an intimate relationship, and frankly, seeing so many fics like that makes my stomach churn. It's one of the reasons I don't scroll the works on here anymore. It's genuinely heartbreaking and triggering, as a survivor of domestic abuse.
Abby sees a painting of dogs playing cards and her neurons ignite like a Molotov cocktail.
If she had a catch phrase, it would literally be, "Will stop for shiny coins."
She'd be the only character in TLOU to leave you love notes in a bottle, floating in the bathroom sink that say adorably corny stuff like, I'm in the gym. Come kiss me at once.
Just because she's powerfully built, doesn't mean she wouldn't be gentle with you.
And I'm not saying that she can't be written into consensual kink play. I'm not talking about silly hyperbole. But I am saying it's not healthy to want Abby to harm you physically and emotionally, and to assume just because she's strong, she would.
You deserve safe love, sweet gays. Please remember that.
lesbians should be allowed to get eachother pregnant. for scientific and babytrapping purposes. please. it's 2025, we need to make it happen.
Guys idk how to say this but stop hating Owen sm 😭 he’s literally one of the most sympathetic and level headed characters in the game. Like just bc you like Abby (or Mel?) doesn’t mean you can’t try to understand him. If it wasn’t for him, the rest of the SLC wanted to kill Ellie and Tommy, he’s the only one that spoke up to save them. He’s gone through similar traumatic experiences as Abby but chose a different path. He’s Abby’s foil line Dina is to Ellie. He tries to support Abby and understand her but she’s ultimately too caught up in her revenge goal that their relationship crumbles. they have a strong relationship too and their method of joking with eachother is deprecating and teasing eachother, and getting mad on her behalf doesn’t make much sense either. They have their own backstory and way of affection that Abby isn’t even mad about, she giggles and smiles at all of Owen’s jokes. Abby clearly cares about him throughout the game even writing that letter to him. Just writing him off and dumbing him down to Abby’s trash male love interest never sits right with me because he has a purpose in the story and he’s a great and layered character.
if you incorrectly headcanon abby/want her to be mean, evil, toxic and abusive please block me because you’re disgusting. why are you people on this app so derranged. the things y’all write about are not normal and abby would hate you

It was late, just past midnight and the apartment had gone still. You had gone to bed an hour ago, after gently insisting Abby didn't need to stay up finishing the laundry.
But Abby had stayed up anyway.
Not because of laundry.
Because earlier that evening, while brushing your hair out after a shower, you had said offhandedly,
"I've always wanted to learn how to do a proper French braid, but I can never get the hand placement right."
You hadn't meant it as a request. Just one of those things people say when they're sleepy and relaxed, idly untangling their hair in the glow of lamplight.
But it had stuck in Abby's chest in that quiet, persistent way things did when they mattered.
And now she was sitting on the living room rug, her laptop open in front of her, a tutorial video paused on a smiling woman holding a mannequin head.
Abby's fingers were wrapped awkwardly around a sad-looking practice braid made from yarn she'd pulled out of an old craft box. Her brows were knit together in deep focus.
"Under, over... no-under again? Shit."
She rewound the video, watching the woman's hands again. Her own hands were big, too clumsy, and this yarn was too slippery, but she was determined. You deserved something soft.
Something delicate. Something that said, I listen. I care. I want to do this for you.
Eventually, after the third or fourth video and countless redos, she got the rhythm. Her fingers started to move with more confidence, more grace.
It still wasn't perfect, but it looked like something.
Like effort. Like love.
She stared down at the wonky braid, a quiet smile tugging at her lips.
A shadow appeared in the hallway- you, sleepy and wrapped in a blanket, blinking at the light.
"Abs? What are you doing?"
Abby froze. "I-nothing. Go back to bed."
You pad closer, crouching beside her and squinting at the yarn.
"..Is that a braid?"
Abby rubbed the back of her neck, sheepish. "I was... practicing. You said you never learned, so l thought-maybe I could. So I can do it for you."
You stared at her for a beat too long, eyes glassy with the kind of affection that makes your chest ache.
Then you leaned forward and kissed her-soft, sleepy, so full of warmth it almost hurt.
"You're ridiculous," you murmured against Abby's lips.

Later that same week, you walked into the living room to find Abby half-inside the laundry closet, surrounded by the scattered innards of the dryer.
"Should I be worried?" you asked, setting your keys down.
Abby's voice echoed from inside the machine.
"Only mildly. It was making that squeaky noise again. I watched like, five repair videos. I think it's just the belt."
You squint at her. "You hate mechanical stuff."
"Yeah, well. You said you hate calling repair guys even more." Abby slid out, grease smudged across her cheek. "Figured I'd try."
You crossed your arms, trying not to smile. "I’m starting to think you can fix anything."
Later that night, the dryer spun without a sound, just the hum of warm air and fresh laundry.
There were no grand declarations. No elaborate gestures.
Just glue, orbit wires, a silenced squeaky dryer, and the quiet, steady rhythm of loving someone by showing up - over and over again.
"There's no way Abby looks like this. Totally unrealistic."
Beyond the functional aspect of her survival training, her daily life is a rigorous workout that mimics a lot of what you’d see in strength training. Combine intense physical activity with a nutritious diet and Abby’s discipline (and trauma responses)—voila. You’ve got yourself one badass military woman.
We're not even considering her genetics, which can pack a serious punch, too.
You can find nearly any type of sustainable food source at the stadium—fish, meat, cheese, eggs, milk, beans, rice, fruits, vegetables, you name it. She has access to calorie dense, protein-rich foods every day. And that's before taking into account the balanced, resourceful meals the cooks could create to maximize the food supply using various recipes.
I'd bore you with the approximate specifics of Abby’s dietary needs for muscle maintenance, but it’s way more fun to explore the game's world instead.
I highly recommend it, even. There’s so much to take in.
Yeah, it's kinda subtle in places, but many parts are really in your face.
An example of this? Isaac doesn't sweat losing a hatchery to the Seraphites. He’s confident the wild salmon they’re fishing will keep them covered. You just can't make that call when your soldiers are starving, in my opinion.
I don't want to randomly assume that most men who hate Abby are super salty about women who are more muscular than them, but... based on some of the reviews and gameplay reactions, holy guacamole.
"It's not about her being muscular!" Yeah, okay.
(Proceeds to mock her physical appearance forever.)
The fragile male ego is poppin', man.
Abby thinks dudes like this need to stop skipping leg day and grow a pair. 😏
i think abby is 6'0! there is a scene in the game where she measures to be that. if not, that's alright! i love her either way.
Okay I'm gonna just prove her height for realsies
There is indeed a measurement in the game than has her at like 6’2” but this is wrong, scaled incorrectly
This was just a theory until I just now ripped this asset and measured it in Blender, the asset is indeed scaled wrong.
Meanwhile I remeasured Abby's model, this time I'm using her Pillars body that contains her feet, vs just measuring the whole Seattle which has just shoes. Her Seattle head is .3 inches above her Pillar's head, so I'm using that for the basis.
So yes, she is 5'9 with a little wiggle room.
Also even if you want consider the game measurement accurate and not look at the 3d model's scales, then Owen, Manny and like every other NPC is 6’5”, Ellie and Dina are like ~5’8”, and it throws it all off. But yeah, it is confusing with that environment asset that’s just wrong lol, idk why they left it like that 😅
