“We’ll see about that” Part 4

AU: idol!au (reader is in a rookie girl group, made up names of the other members, Jay is an idol in Enhypen)

Trigger warning: jealous Jay, verbal fights (Reader x Jay, Jay x Sunghoon), cursing, very very brief mention of drinking. Let me know if there’s anything I missed!

Summary: Jay starts to notice that Sunghoon, one of his closest friends, has been getting very friendly with his crush, only problem is that he can’t tell him to back off because they’re not together, plus both groups have a dating ban so it’s not like he can act upon his feelings anyways

What is this?

You just woke up and the first thing you see on your phone is a... unusual text message from the Park Sunghoon but, you can’t possibly know what is usual for him, you have never texted him in your life but after all he is know to be an introvert, that’s why the text message surprised you to say the least.

From: Hoonie <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3

“I really liked talking to you today:) do you think we can hang out soon? I miss you”

This text... it’s odd? Your confusion is justifiable. What were supposed to reply to this? Why did he even send this in the first place? Did he really want to hang out with you? Should you say yes to him knowing you have a preference towards his bandmate that just so happens to be the crown asshole of the year? Should you give Sunghoon, the sweetest boy you’ve met recently, a chance?

You didn’t know what to do with all these questions, you had no answers and no one around to help you so you went to look for someone you knew could help even if it meant years of bullying to come.

“JIN-AE!” You shouted, in hopes she hadn’t gone out on an early morning run like usual and to your surprise, she hadn’t hence the scream she let out after yours.

“WHAT DO YOU WANT SO EARLY IN THE MORNING Y/N?!” Jin-Ae yelled back, knowing that everyone else was awake and getting ready for the day.

“I need your help with something real quick” you replied, hoping she wouldn’t dismiss your request.

“Fine, give me a minute I’ll be right there, let me finish cooking breakfast.” she exclaimed.

“I’ll help you out.” you said in hopes you could talk to her sooner.

You made your way to the kitchen and as you passed the rooms of your friends, you saw them all getting ready for whatever event you had to attend but forgot about, you shrugged it off. Whatever it was, it could wait.

You all had separate rooms, your company had told you that it was to avoid fights between the members of a newly debuted group but if you ever wanted to share rooms in the future, they could easily move your dorms and sort out the sleeping arrangements but you were all doing just fine with your own personal space.

“Oh wow it smells nice, what are you cooking?” You asked once you entered the kitchen where Jin-Ae was waiting for you.

“Just some toast with whatever leftovers I found in the fridge.” she replied mindlessly.

“Okay, what can I help you with?” you asked to be of help to your leader.

“Can you put the bread in the toaster and get the coffee maker started?” Jin-Ae requested.

“Yeah sure.” you said, so you started with it. You got the bread out of the bag it came in and started putting it in the toaster but your toaster only fit four bread slices so you couldn’t do it all at once.

“What was the thing you wanted to ask me about?” Jin-Ae questioned once she remembered why you were helping in the first place.

“Oh right, so Sunghoon texted me last night when I was asleep but he asked me to hang out soon, what do I do?” You asked her in hopes that she had an answer.

“But how did he ask you? That’s important, show me the text.” So that’s what you did, you showed her the text and by the way her eyebrows went to her forehead and her eyes almost popped out of her skull, you assumed it was a little out there.

“Okay, definitely not what I expected. ‘I miss you’? really? he literally met you yesterday bro” Jin-Ae said in disbelief at Sunghoon’s boldness.

“Maybe he was drunk texting? I don’t think he drinks though” You tried to understand his behavior while waiting for the toasts to be done so you can put more bread in the toaster.

“I highly, highly doubt it. Hey, who knows? Maybe you charmed your way into the Ice Prince’s heart.” Jin-Ae said, back to her usual teasing tone.

“Well he is a nice guy, he’s sweet and funny too” you pointed out.

“There you go, tell him you’re free on Saturday or something and go out with him. He’s Jin-Ae approved, far better than that ass Jay.” Your leader said while rolling her eyes at the American's name.

“Okay, okay I will, let’s finish breakfast first though” You said and Jin-Ae agreed, telling you that you only had to agree if you wanted to and that she wasn’t pressuring you into going out with him but you already knew that, still, you appreciate that she told you so.

You both fell into a comfortable silence while preparing breakfast for the rest of the members, both of you doing different things and just humming softly to whatever song came up on your leaders playlist

“Ahh it smells nice here” Naoko said, her voice being soft and dreaming, she sounded like what you thought a mermaid would sound like if they were real, your fans always pointed out that that was one of her many charms. “What are you guys doing? Oh, you’re making breakfast” She pointed out once she saw Jin-Ae making scrambled eggs. “Do you need help with anything?” She asked, wanting to help even if she was still half asleep but you just told her she could go and wake the rest of the members up since neither you nor Jin-Ae needed help with your tasks.

After Naoko came back to the kitchen with the rest of the members trailing behind her, Soo-Yun suggested they helped set the table up while you and the oldest of your group finished preparing breakfast and they all agreed excitedly with the exception of a groggy and sleepy Jun that half-heartedly started clearing up the kitchen island for all your to seat.

Just when your group was done setting up the table, Jin-Ae finished heating up the foos and the last two pieces of toast popped up from the toaster, you placed the fresh toast on a plate and took them to where your members were sitting at, when the girls saw this, they stood up and helped Jin-Ae take everything to the kitchen island so they could all eat at the same time.

“Thank you for the food!” You all said in unison once you all sat down and placed what you were going to eat on your plates, and just like that the kitchen filled up with the quiet chit-chat from you and the noise of your knives and chopsticks clanking against the ceramic of your plates.

Once you were done eating, you each loaded up the dishwasher with the plates and utensils each of you used and later went into your rooms to get ready for the day.

You were the first to shower because you wanted to go out on your own today to walk around the city. You stepped out of the shower, wrapped the towel around your body and brushed your teeth. Once you were done, you made your way to your room to get dressed for the day. You decided on simple and comfortable clothes, adding a cap to hide your face in case dispatch was around and decided it was alright to invade your alone time. Once you were all dressed up and ready to go, you gathered your things, keys, phone, earphones, hand sanitizer, etc, and made your way to the door of your dorm.

“I’M GOING ON A WALK! IF YOU NEED ANYTHING JUST TEXT OR CALL, BYE” You shouted in hopes that at least one of your members heard so that they wouldn’t be worried. Just as you were about to close the door, Jin-Ae ran to it to hold it open.

“Hey, don’t forget to text Sunghoon back, I think he might really be interested.” Jin-Ae reminded you knowing you had already probably forgotten.

“Oh yeah! I won’t, don’t worry about it. I’m looking forward to seeing him.” You said, reassuring your leader. With that said Jin-Ae gave you a nod and waved you goodbye as she closed the door so you could be on your way.

It’s a busy day at the city apparently, there was a lot of people walking on the street, more that you expected but it didn’t bother you because they were not interrupting your plans and, most importantly, no one seemed to notice you or follow you around which relieved you, it made your day more enjoyable. You noticed that the weather was on the colder side, it was winter after all but you didn’t mind it one bit, it was one of your favorite seasons.

Winter.

Coats.

Cold.

Snow.

Ice.

Ice Prince.

Sunghoon.

Sunghoon!

Right! I have to reply to his text! But what are you supposed to reply to that? He told you he missed you but you had only met him once. You thought about it for a while until you decided on what to say back to him.

To: Hoonie <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3

“heyy! I really liked hanging out with you too honestly and we can defo hang out soon, just tell me when you’re free and I’ll check my schedule :)”

You pressed send and immediately put your phone away so as not to stress over your poor choice of words. Just as you were looking back up, you spotted a cafe, specifically one that Ava would not stop talking about since the first time she went so you, naturally, decided to go in and give it a try. The decoration was lovely, it felt romantic but not in an obnoxious “red hearts and chocolates” kind of romantic, more like a classic kind of romantic, it felt like the kind of romance you read about in old books, it felt like the love that Mr. Darcy had for Elizabeth and you loved it, someone could fall in love here.

You got to the counter to see what they had on the menu, it all looked amazing but you settled on an orange cake and a tea, nothing too heavy because you just had breakfast and you weren’t really that hungry. You chose a seat by the back of the cafe, you didn’t want to be spotted. You had to wait for your food and drink so in the meantime, you took out your phone and you saw that you had a notification from Sunghoon and it was from six minutes ago, he was a fast replier.

“I’m free today actually, but if it’s too soon don’t worry about i have other days off that can work too”

You should reply, he does seem excited to hang out.

“today works! I have a day off and i was planning on taking a walk around the city, you can join me if you want”

That should be good, right?

Apparently it was because not even a minute later Sunghoon responded.

“Sorry about that, my hand slipped”

“And yes! I wanna join you! Our dorm is a little hectic and I would love the calm that you bring”

“I mean the calm that being away from the dorm brings not you”

“But you too don’t get me wrong I love being with you”

“No, not love sorry I don’t love you”

“Wait that sounded so bad let me just- 🚊🚶🏻‍♂️"

“hoon, you’re rambling”

“just shut up and get over here, I wanna see you already”

“I’m at the Greenhouse Café”

“don’t forget to bring something to hide your face”

“Oh, I’m pretty close, I’ll be there in like ten”

“Wait for me please :)”

And so you did, you waited for Sunghoon and for your food to get to you. You liked Sunghoon but you knew he wasn’t that comfortable with you just yet because the Sunghoon you have seen is not the same Sunghoon you see in every new episode of “En O’clock” but you really wished you got to see that first hand some time in the future, he’s just naturally funny and charming, you loved it.

While you were stuck in your own thoughts, the staff of the cafe had their eyes stuck on a young gentleman that looked like a prince, how could they see him? Well, he was not wearing a cap, not even sunglasses and his beauty is not something you can just look away from, so naturally, they followed him with his eyes, he was looking for you. That’s when you looked up and saw him standing in all his glory, the fist thing you noticed was how good he looked, the second thing you noticed was that he looked too good in that navy blue shirt you’re sure he stole from Jay, and the third thing you noticed was his lack of camouflage.

“Sunghoon! Are you stupid?” And that was the first thing you said to him, you were about to take it back but couldn't when the widest smile spread across his face and then he made his way towards you.
