I am absolutely insane about the coat symbolism in BSD so I'll start off with a little something now and explain more when I have the time later. I am obsessed with this shit
Coat theory is the symbolisation of the colour and placements of coats on characters like Dazai, Mori, Odasaku, Chuuya and Akutagawa. The coats represent their loyalties to organisations and people and on which "side" they are on.
Pm is canonically black and darker colours where as the ADA is white and lighter colours as seen in the images above with Dazai PM and ADA the colour changes.
The colour however is not the significant part about the coat theory. It's how the coats are used. We can see in port mafia members the way they wear the coats, whereas Dazai doesn't wear his coat properly and in certain scenes (especially with Oda) he isn't wearing the coat at all
In Oda's death scene in particular he runs in wearing the coat and when he dashes over to Odadaku the coat is thrown off and discarded. It seems like nothing at first but it's a sign of how Dazai actively regects the mafia in that moment.
This is my short snippets of the coat theory because I have to sleep and I have work tomorrow but probably more to come on Dazai and the other characters.

What do we need to be a muse?
Are you born with such a beauty that people just look at you and decide that all their work is
going to revolve around you?
Or are you just as human as one can be?
Are muses always pretty? Or are just artists looking for the most imperfect beings in the
universe so they can turn them into art?
People with magnets for a heart, fire for a soul, passion as a brain, stars for eyes and God
for hands aren't capable of looking at something broken and not find beauty in it
Kintsugi, the japanese art of fixing something broken with gold, turning pain into perfeccion
Scars never looked as beautiful in any others face
That's the power of a muse
A muse could be dying and still look majestic in the artist windows
But any other God could see it and not find it as beautiful as their own muse
What does it take to be one as well?
I've had many muses in my life, some were truly beautiful, others just were thought my stars
To think a muse is God, instead of the one creating is truly wild
What does it take to be looked at that way
What does it take to be a muse
Are you born with it?
Are the muses created for gods?
Or are muses God itself, the emperor waiting for the slaves to carve his best side into the
rock.

Dazai, about Atsushi: Sure, I give him love and care and affection and food and shelter and would kill anyone if they even looked at him wrong, but I’m not his dad.
Atsushi: Wait, you’re not?
