I went on a walk today, I have been trying to go on daily walks, but I might have a skip day every now and then, but today I decided to take pictures of Lemon Park. So my area is thick with history of being you know...racist. A town called Kingman which is about 45 minutes away was KKK headquarters for this area. There are certain towns including Pratt definitely have creepy vibes, and we certainly have ghosts. Lemon Park is no exemption to creepy vibes. Stories go that the lynchings happened at the park as well cultist rituals. Everyone that talks about the park, it certainly begins to feel unwelcoming and after the sun goes down. It was also said to be common place for people to commit suicide, and I lived in town for 10 years now, there has been at least one of two that I know of. I think I'll find another place to walk.

marylander trying to describe a tornado: imagine a crab cake
Read those problematic witchcraft books, read those Wiccan books that people don't agree with, read those books that people can't stand. Why? So you can read them for yourself! That way you can understand why people feel the way they feel about certain authors and books. And also, you can process how you feel about them. To also take that a step further, read the books everyone raves about. I have books that I like, and I have books that I got half way through, and I haven't touched since. And that includes books that some people truly like.
Another example of this action is when I went to church with Jehovah's Witnesses. Jehovah's Witnesses are not very well liked in my area. Their beliefs have made them banned in several countries, and folks in my area tend to avoid them as much as they can. But one day, I was invited to go to one of their meetings on Sunday. I kept my comments to myself, I followed along in one of their Bibles, and I even sat through like a for one for all study session where everyone participated. The topic was, "What Would Happen If We Get Banned". It was like 40 question booklet thing, that everyone took turns reading like we would do in grade school.I sat through over 2 hours of discomfort because my butt went numb, and I was bored, but for them this was a serious issue, and I tried to be respectful.
Why would I do that? Because didn't want to be another broken record in echo chamber. I wanted to see for myself why people feel the way they do, inside and outside of the congregation. And now I also have opinions of my own.
@windvexer you and I both crochet! This brought me joy but also ideas!
I get what you mean about the good old days of witchblr. I was having a great time until I got cyberbullied and lied about by one bigger creator and she and her fans scared me for life. Now I'm just terrified to talk about my beliefs because I'm scared I'll just be abused again.
Yes, witchblr was fun for awhile, but I remember it getting so bad to the point, where the was the Mass Exodus of Tumblr, a good portion of the people quit all together, but some created their own blog pages. I also remember there was a few instances of bullying individuals and even a few groups. It just makes me genuinely sad and mad for my fellow peeps. I was talking with someone the other the day, and they share your same sentiment. It hurts my heart that it got to that point for you as well. That makes you the third person to say that, and I know there are many others.
I love protective magic that looks scary.
Like yes, yes, keep the harmful spirits and negative energy away... but I also want my wards to work on a fully mundane level by simply creeping out anyone who might have thought to do me harm.
