I want you to know how glad I am that you are running this blog, especially after what has happened. This is my message of support. I hope you get many more and I hope that you are safe.

Thank you, but I’m not safe. Myself and almost everyone I know have been hiding in their houses, even calling in sick to work, afraid to go anywhere because people are getting harassed and attacked all over. The KKK is literally marching in the streets proclaiming their “victory”. The scant resources or protections that have been keeping me and my closest people alive for the last few years have been “promised” to be removed, and without medical care or a safety net, we will die. Regulations that are supposed to keep our drinking water clean and our working environments safe are being removed, even more than they already have. Discrimination that keeps people from having homes, educations, and jobs is going to be legalized.

I realize there’s a lot of “we made it through [___], we’ll make it through this!” going around, but I’m not “we”. I’m a multiply disabled, chronically ill qpoc with a mountain of student debt, who is living in poverty with a physically disabled partner who only has access to medical care through the ACA and is waiting on an SSDI hearing. There’s already no heat in my house or car, and we live hand-to-mouth when it comes to food. And that’s not even the only direct threat, it’s just the most immediate one.

And I see a lot of people invoking history, but how long ago is history? Because after “reforms” to disability supports to the British system in 2011, literally thousands died within a week of having been deemed “fit for work”. TENS of thousands died under Reagan, and if it’s not clear, I was alive through his entire term and remember it well. This is likely to be worse than that.

I’ve had friends and family over, and we all have found there’s not much to say or do but stare at the walls in despair, and derive small comfort from each others’ presence. We’ll do the best we can, but we all kind of know we’re not the ones who “make it through this.” I’m usually a fairly positive person but I’ve…kinda got nothing here.

This Girl Was Kicked Out of Class for Having Cornrows

Her mother is not happy.

A 13-year-old girl in Britain is the latest student to be removed from class because of her hairstyle. Amanda Sutcliffe was put in “isolation” after she showed up with her hair in cornrows.

Before the teen had her hair done while on vacation with her family in Turkey, Sutcliffe checked to confirm that the hairstyle was not listed as banned under the school’s dress code. When she returned to class, the teachers found that the style did violate the code because it was “extreme,” reports The Mirror….

ISIS Taps Dark Web, Encryption Apps to Coordinate

U.S. law enforcement officials say ISIS terrorists may have planned the Paris attacks with user-friendly encrypted messaging apps that have now become nearly impossible for police to crack.

Former CIA deputy director Michael Morell said this weekend that ISIS and other terrorists are able to communicate under the radar of Western intelligence agencies as a result. “I think this is going to open an entirely new debate about security versus privacy,” Morell told CBS’ Face the Nation.

Jihadist groups have abandoned email and cellphones for secure systems created by big Western social media companies. Google, Facebook and Twitter have started using an encryption technique called “perfect forward secrecy” that creates a unique key for each encryption. It does not create a long-term master key, or “back door” that can be used to unlock them.

Dear Black women of the world

Some of these niggas on Twitter make black men look bad by trying to make y'all look bad. Their ignorance, cowardice and stupidity baffles me. They act like their mothers, sisters, aunts, and cousins aren’t black. They should be Ashamed for themselves.

I know it must be difficult for you in a world that sees you as not just one minority but two. Like its not bad enough that your black but you’re a woman too. Double the hate. Double the prejudice.

Please though, I beg of you don’t give up on us yet. There are still men out there that see you as the strong, independent, intelligent, beautiful women that you are. We love you for it. Dark skinned, light skinned, brown skinned it doesn’t matter we love you all. You are all queens and should be treated as such. I apologize on the behalf on my misguided brothers who don’t understand. Just know there’s still some of us out there who see you as you are. Not as society, or social media portrays you.
