The eye of the hurricane. I like to think Cassandra sometimes called the brothers by the nicknames their dad used, given they were probably pretty close before his passing.

Man oh man, this one was way messier and off model than my last few updates but whatever, we got to keep this ball rolling! Life's been crazy so I've had to take some unwanted breaks in between updates. Thanks everyone for your patience as always!

One thing I wanted in this flashback was to really get a sense of how the brothers worked as an experienced team with Leo at the helm as a proper leader. It's something we never got to see much of in Rise and I felt it was important to include since half the team is already gone by the time of Replica. Team Dynamics Ted Talk under the cut!

We know from Casey Jr that Leo stressed the importance of listening to your team. A big part of that also means knowing how to communicate with them in general.

With Michelangelo, he keeps it short and succinct, trusting his brother to know what he's doing when in his element. This trust goes a long way with Mikey, having spent years of his youth as the baby striving for the respect he felt he deserved. Leo knows it's best to not bog Mikey down with details, allowing him to improvise as needed. This unspoken freedom has only grown over time as Mikey has dipped deeper into spiritual arts that, frankly, go completely over Leo's head.

The greatest sacrifice Leo has ever made was read Donnie's Big Book of Bad Guy Codes. While he doesn't remember ALL the numbers, he has memorized the ones that matter and it has helped tremendously in avoiding miscommunication with his genius brother. More importantly it silenced any of Donnie's usual belly-aching. As Leo's "twin"/"equal" the two still butt heads from time to time. Donnie respects his brother's authority (mostly) but will still push the boundaries of what he's allowed on a semi-regular basis. Give Donnie an inch and he will take the mile and then find a loop hole that allows him to go twenty miles more. This is partially due to him often being the one left behind at HQ, making the turtle just a TAD stir crazy. Leo does his best to keep him in line regardless.

Big brother Raph will forever and always be big brother to Leo. As such he holds a place of authority in Leo's heart and is someone he still regularly seeks counsel from in both the ways of leadership and more. Raph is always happy to support his younger brother and does a surprisingly good job (albeit after years of practice) of walking the line so as not to step on his brother's toes in the process. At least not since the secret of "the Key" blew up in their faces several years ago. They don't talk about that anymore. Leo is the leader now and he's done a great job in recent years as far as Raph is concerned. He trusts him to make the right call. The two have a close bond and regularly use mind meld to quickly communicate rather than speak ...this will be important to remember for the future.

Touch starved 

Shigaraki stared at you all the time. Wanting nothing more than to touch you. To feel your soft skin under his rough fingers. To pull you into his chest in a warm embrace. To have your scent surround him. Bury his face in the crook of your neck, lavishing it with soft kisses while you run your fingers through his messy soft hair. He was sure it would be like a drug that he would become addicted to, he would never get enough. The thought that it will never be makes his heart clench, a lump forming in his throat as he holds back tears. He would be alone forever. He was unlovable. Untouchable. Self Esteem

He longs to confess his feelings to you but doesn’t think you will reciprocate them. He has very low self esteem, he has seen people stare at him on the rare occasions when he goes out. He knows all too well that he is not attractive. Most people wouldn’t even want to touch him, they probably think he is contagious or something.

None of that bothered him until you came along. Now he would give anything to look normal, to not have unsightly scars covering his face. To have nice soft lips to kiss you with. Even the way he held himself and walked bothered him. He looked like a string-less puppet in his movements, hunched over and jerky. His voice was raspy and husky, not smooth like the actors you see in movies. His hands were calloused, and huge, with overly large knuckles, he doubted you would want to feel his caress. He hated everything about himself. 

Loneliness 

Now he sits at that bar and watches as Dabi flirts with you, as you laugh with Spinner, talk with Mr. Compress, or just hang out with Toga. All the while wishing you would come sit next to him instead, chose his company over theirs. He wants to call you over to him so bad but he doesn’t, you are having so much fun without him. So he sits at the bar, whiskey in hand, alone as always. Occasionally glancing in your direction staring at you through father, glad you can’t see his scars.

Matter of fact you have never seen his face. Would you call him gross or a creep, words he has heard too much. He’s spent countless nights laying wide awake thinking how amazing it would be to have you next to him. Hearing you call his name. The feeling of you snuggled into him, limbs tangled together, a peaceful expression on your face, exhausted after making love for hours. To wake up next to you.

Fear

He sat there getting more and more lost in his thoughts, his self loathing, his desire for you, his loneliness, that he didn’t notice everyone clear out and you taking a seat next to him. Your sweet voice breaking through his thoughts and self pity.

You were curious why he didn’t join everyone. She wanted me to join he thought to himself, no surely not she’s probably just being polite and making conversation, but that wasn’t you. You always spoke your mind not caring if you hurt someone you said what you felt. Yet another reason he was scared to say how he felt. He never showed it but he was vulnerable especially when it came to you. You could easily destroy him. 

Happiness

Wait did she call me Shiggy. He stared at you quietly for several seconds, you must have realized your slip up because you blushed and apologized promptly. “No it’s fine” he sputtered out quickly rather liking the cute little nickname you had given him. You spent the next couple of hours talking, it came so naturally and easy. Sitting next to him, you were so close, your scent was intoxicating, your presence was delightful.

Spending time with you was a pleasure. There were so many things you had in common. Maybe just maybe, he thought, grasping on to the tiniest hope of you liking him. Wait you hadn’t seen his face. He needed to know how you would react, would you gawk at him, suddenly leave, look on speechless. It didn’t matter he needed to know so slowly, hesitantly he reached up and removed father from his face. 

Reaction

This is it, he looked at you offering you the rest of the bottle you’d been drinking out of, studying your face anxiously for a sign. You looked at him wide eyed for a second, Shigaraki took that to mean you were uncomfortable.

“I…I  can put it back on if it makes you feel better” he said, reaching for father on the bar, but your hand stopped his, “why” you asked. He turned back to you, “my face doesn’t bother you, I know how I look, you can be honest” his voice held fear of rejection. Your heart broke for him at that moment.

“I just didn’t think you’d be so hot” you blurted out. Hot she thinks I’m hot, his mind couldn’t process it. Is this really happening, is he dreaming. Without thinking he leaned forward planting his thin chapped lips to your soft full ones. You didn’t pull away. Shyly he ran his tongue over your bottom lip asking for entrance which you instantly gave. Your tongues tangled together as his arms wrapped around your waist pulling you off your bar stool and onto his lap.

General

Leviathan was nervous about physical affection at first.

He still is, though not as much as before.

He was afraid of putting his hands in the wrong spots, or of you being uncomfortable.

Anime didn’t teach him how to do this.

Eventually he started pulling you over to sit on his lap while he gamed.

You would fall asleep against his chest sometimes when he did that and he would panic because he didn’t want to move and wake you up.

Sooner or later, he would realize that you were a heavy sleeper, and he would be able to relax when you fell asleep against him.

Now he loves having you on his lap while he games. If you’re not facing the screen and gaming with him, you’re facing him and wrapping your arms around his neck, which still makes him blush like mad.

You make sure to do it often.

Hands

It took a while before Levi was confident enough to grab your hand first.

He occasionally grabs your hand now when you manage to get him out of the house for a walk in the evenings.

Levi likes to hold your hands over a controller when teaching you how to play a game.

You’ll pretend to mess up a few times purposely so that he holds your hands longer.

He knows.

Kisses

Levi rarely makes the first move when it comes to kissing.

He’d rather you make the first move.

But oh boy, when you do ask for a kiss, he’s all for it.

Levi will show off what he learned for some animes to kiss you in the sweetest ways.

He’ll dip you and kiss you like you’re air and he hasn’t breathed for hours.

Lift you into his arms so you have to wrap your legs around his waist.

Leviathan will cup your cheeks sweetly and lift your face to his to kiss you with lips softer then silk.

Hell, he even starts wearing Chapstick that’s your favorite flavor to get you to kiss him more often.

Hugs

Leviathan likes to hug you from behind so that he can bury his face in your hair.

He can’t help loving that you use the sweetest smelling shampoo.

His arms will pull you flush against his surprisingly toned torso and just hold you against him for a couple minutes.

Until he realizes how long he’s been holding onto you and quickly lets go to fight down the blush that he hadn’t noticed until you pointed out how cute it was.

He gets flustered easier than his brothers, and it shows in the way he typically hides his face against your hair or the top of your head when he hugs you.

Cuddles

He likes playing with your hair when you cuddle.

He’s just so intrigued by its softness.

And when you push him gently down onto the bed and climb in behind him to wrap your arms around his waist, he melts.

He wants to be cool and be the big spoon, but he can’t help the way his heart flutters when you pull him against your front and rest your head against his back.

He’ll hold your hands when they circle around his waist, and just play with your fingers as he relaxes against your chest.

He doesn’t want his brothers to know that he’s the little spoon out of the fear that they’ll make fun of him.

He doesn’t know that they all know, but that you made them all swear to never say anything.

Even Lucifer shivered when you settled your glare on him that day.

Eager to see your next chaotic wake up call, he lent it to you

He was howling with laughter as you violently screamed the lyrics

He was also reprimanded by Lucifer for “giving MC a speaker to scream a vulgar song”

Levi always joins in whenever you do a wake up call, even if he gets lectured

Right off the bat, he absolutely despised your wake up calls

He was so invested in a beautifully written novel when he heard,
