People keep introducing villains with dark music and grim shadows everywhere and like edgy aesthetic and speeches
but the Best Villain introduction and establishing moment has already occurred
like, we’ve been with her one minute and we already know every other thing about her and Are Terrified, every other introduction go home, this one already wins
This may be a long shot but does anyone have that post about the difference between Alpha Church and Epsilon?
Sometimes I forget that he didn't die. Things were so bad for so long. Sometimes I think he did die, and this is another boy entirely

it’s wild to me that there are people who don’t have stories constantly popping up in their heads
I’ve said it a bajillion times and I’ll say it a bajillion more: motive.
It fixes 99% of writing problems.
Scene is boring? Give the characters a motive. Character doesn’t feel real? Find their driving motives behind their worldview and actions. Tension missing? Find a motive and prevent the anyone from getting what they want.
Dig into those passions, however big or small. Prevent characters from reaching it, make it glaringly, blindingly obvious what they, in their deepest parts of their soul, crave.
Motive motive motive.
If your character has a trait you consider one of their key features and it is never challenged in anyway, that trait will probably have about as much impact as their “tiny mole on their left buttcheek” trait.
For that trait NOT to fall totally flat, one or more of these things need to happen:
The trait exacerbates a situation in a bad way. (An extremely honest and trusting character reveals an important secret to the Big Bad’s lackey)
The character is given a choice to either act according to their traits or to subvert them. Often the subversion has the better outcome. They either maintain their trait and take a risk, or character development ensues. (A greedy character must escape. Leaving behind their riches goes against their very being, but it would allow them to escape easier. If they try to take some of their treasure with them, they do so at massive risk.)
The character is put in an environment or must work with a person that opposes their trait. (An extremely tidy person must live in their slob cousin’s filthy apartment for a week. / The character has a debilitating fear of being alone and they are stranded on their own on an island.)
The character is put in a situation that requires them to suppress their trait (A hotheaded character needs to have polite discourse with someone they hate)

anybody else a fan of these rlly niche oneshot fics that r simultaneously a little moody and angsty while being exceptionally tender and sexy. they’re always like 20k words and absolutely nothing happens plot wise except feelings stuff. and they always have a title (like this)
I can’t promise that I’ll finish Nano, but I’ll at least start, and that’s what matters.
Anyway, I’m doing nano!! I’m @ diwrite if you’d like to add me as a writing buddy! :D
Here’s my project is dumbasses in a sedan (working title), a new adult mystery w a mlm romance ! Below is a brief description:
Five days and 2,500 miles after his father’s disappearance, Cameron’s car breaks down. He’d been following a trail of clues and hasty assumptions that led him right to Bluehorn City, a crumbling ghost town in northwestern Arizona. But now he’s out of money, out of gas, and out of ideas, and the more he uncovers about his dad, the less sure he is of who the man was. Now, Cameron has to figure out what’s so special about Bluehorn. Maybe special isn’t quite the word for it; the town’s sitting on a secret, and at the center of it all is Andy, an auto mechanic with a chunk missing from his memory. Andy offers Cameron a deal: Cameron helps Andy solve his own mystery, and Andy fixes Cameron’s car for free. What else is there to do, with no car and no idea where to go next? Cameron accepts. Little do either of them know just what they’ll uncover.
as always, the plot/genre/everything is subject to change because I’m ~indecisive~, but I’m pretty happy with this so far !!!
