I've always noticed that ghastly looks, oddly similar to a cell in develoment inside the woman's utter.

So, Ghatsly is a dead mid-first 1/2 weeks of a pregnancy/egg develoment.

Haunter would be an unborn fetus/embrion.

And Gengar an alredy borned creature that is now dead.
