Tick, tick, tick, tick…

The hands of the clock on the library wall flick around their orbit, though no one pays mind to their positions. Scribbling on paper, book pages turning with a quiet whush, a waggling tail occasionally meeting the bookcase as the reader absorbs the writings. 

It had been hours since Rain and Dewdrop first entered the ministry library. The fire ghoul wanted to read, the water ghoul wanted to draw. A chill had seeped into their bones when they first arrived early morning that dissipated as the afternoon sun streamed in through the large windows. It was cozy now, comfortable enough to sink and yawn into. 

Rain stretched for the hundredth time with a low groan, a knot forming in his lower back from being hunched over his drawing pad. Images had poured out in the beginning, mostly of his lover, but they dribbled into doodles as his mind began to drift. He sat back in his chair, blinking fast to try and rouse his brain again, peeking at the clock that read a time he didn’t truly care about. Then, he turned to the ghoul who had entered with him.

Dewdrop had started out in one of the plush, red chairs on the far wall of the library. A dark bound book capturing his attention. Then he’d moved to the table next to Rain until he became fidgety, then to the floor where he currently laid out, ankles raised and crossed over each other, his tail wiggling every time the book excited him. Rain stared at him, taking in his lithe form. The curve of his back as he rested up on his elbows. Legs stretched out in a way that Rain could only describe as cute. That long, dark tail, heart shaped at the tip that Rain wanted to reach out and grab - both because Dewdrop would certainly pout cutely, and tail pulling usually lead to other more sinful activities. 

The fire ghoul had one hand raised to his mouth, looking thoughtful, while the other was holding the book open, pointing a guide for Dewdrop’s eyes. Long, hay-colored hair was tucked behind his ears, and one bunch that never seemed to listen was hanging in front of his pointed nose. Rain wanted to slick it back, if only to see more of Dewdrop’s pretty face. He truly was a gorgeous ghoul. Warmth bloomed in his chest at the sight. 

I love him, was the only thought on his mind.
