My impression of Season of the Deep
the funniest thing in d2 remains the drifter's unyielding insistence that you're doing something huge and forbidden that no one's ever done before by sniping someone every now and then in gambit while shaxx is right down the road making up new ways for a lightbearer to be drawn and quartered each week
The Young Wolf, King-Slayer, God Eater, Bane Of Everybody, Actual God, More Titles And Powers Than Anybody Sane Could List, looking directly into the camera as someone says releasing Eramis is far too dangerous like she has any reason to cause problems or like Doomguy's more violent cousin isn't on speed dial for literally everybody she would be around
YEAH LIKE. ERAMIS IS JUST ONE ELIKSNI. SHE'S NOT EVEN ARMED WITH ANYTHING OTHER THAN STASIS. If she ever so much as sneezed wrong (do Eliksni sneeze?...Something to ponder for later) she could get vaporized by a guardian in seconds. And when you factor in the knowledge that we're in a city chock full of guardians, that makes the idea of her acting out even more ridiculous. Eramis is impulsive and prone to making a lot of terrible decisions, but she isn't stupid. And even if she escaped the City and got to a Salvation ketch, she can't retaliate without damning the rest of her people to death or worse. She's already fucked them over enough, she's not going to risk them now.
There's also the fact that the Young Wolf has now canonically been exposed to Eliksni culture for enough years to know how their honour system works, and has encountered Eramis enough times to know that she's one of the strict adherents to it. By freeing her, we indebted her to us- that's why she gave us the bow and the acknowledgement that she's at our mercy (which was just as deep of a bow as what Misraaks gave to us in greeting, btw). Eramis cannot act our against us because that would violate our honour-tie. She's at least got to work that off first before she can try to go back to being enemies with us, and we already know that she's sick of the violence from the audio logs she left us in Seraph.
thoughts on the lore seeming to imply the young wolf might be one of, if not the most powerful active guardian? (example: old farm ambient dialogue indicating that between rise of iron and the red war, the guardian defeated shaxx in the crucible 3-2 https://youtu.be/S1r4wOUFR-4, the only guardian aside from ikora to do so). i personally don't mind it and actually think it's kinda cool, but a lot of people seem really opposed to the idea so im just wondering what your opinion is
Oh that's a cool line, haven't heard it before.
Yeah, I think the Young Wolf is for sure among the stronger Guardians. We are, first and foremost, some sort of an outlier, almost like an anomaly, that affects timelines. In all previous timelines that Elsie knows about, there was never a Young Wolf and we never killed the Black Heart and that one single divergence doomed all other timelines. It's the sole reason why Elsie popped up in D1 to help us with the Black Heart, as it was one of the possible options she hadn't tried yet.
And ever since, we've definitely fulfilled the role of this outlier figure. Obviously, it's hard to say, like, which specific parametres to use to determine how strong a Guardian is and all, but I definitely think that we should count as some of the strongest ever, especially with how well we're capable of commanding both Light and Darkness. There's a reason why Osiris considers us his equal and expects a lot from us.
