I don’t even think this is an unpopular opinion. The Bowers Gang is popular because they’re played by attractive actors. Except notice how people often keep Belch out of their fics or art? They don’t find his character attractive despite being a lesser evil compared to Patrick and Henry.

Seeing how people react to Belch is an indicator that their actions aren’t taken into account, just their looks. Patrick is attractive enough to get away with his actions, while Belch is ostracized for being… chubby? Cuz he burps? He is also horribly mischaracterized imo… read the fucking book.
