squid game: mlb edition
Oh man, this is such a hard question! And also I don't want our characters to die T^T. But I will try to answer your question as best as I can. To win squid game, I was trying to consider a few things. One; what are the stakes for failing? Why are the characters entering squid game? Is it to protect someone? Because I think most of the characters would not want to harm or kill anyone under most circumstances.
Second I was trying to consider what each character's threshold for violence is. And then the question... is this like a battle royal, where all mlb characters are playing against each other? I know this is a hypothetical question, but the mlb characters are all so real to me that my stomach is in so much turmoil with this question. Squid game or battle royal would be such a horrible situation to put all of them in T^T.
But since you asked, I did some brainstorming and here is what I think. Apologies in advance, this got incredibly long lol
I didn't analyse all the characters, because what I wrote already got way out of hand xD
MARINETTE:
STRENGTH: Medium. She could hold her own, because of her Agility and smarts, but strength is not her top stat AGILITY & STEALTH: Medium-High. I know Mari is clumsy, but as a clumsy person myself I know that it ends up giving you amazing reflexes. Her stealth would be shit though lol EMOTION: I think Mari would be one of the last ones standing. Emotionally if her self righteousness kicks in, she would be able to go quite far. If Lila and her were in the running there would be no way she would let Lila win, and therefore might do things she normally would not do. If she is paired against a friend, she would hate herself for hurting someone she loves, but I could see her doing it under certain circumstances.
ADRIEN :
STRENGTH: High. You'd want Adrien on your side AGILITY & STEALTH: High. Would make it through red light green light game for sure. EMOTION: Would not make it till the end I think. Against some people he loves, like Nino I think he would be crying his eyes out, but I almost feel like Nino would give in first and let Adrien win. But if he was paired against Mari, I think he would choose not to act and sacrifice himself rather than live with the pain of having to hurt her.
ALYA:
STRENGTH: High. I think Alya would kick ass AGILITY & STEALTH: Medium/High. I think Alya's agility in her normal form is mediocre, but her stealth and smarts are off the chart. EMOTION: I think Alya has a High Moral Center. What I mean by that is that an outside goal would be more important then her internal wants. I do think Alya would get really far, but I think she would calculate the odds of the people left to see who would have a better chance of winning. If that turns out to be someone other than herself, then I think she would sacrifice herself for that goal.
NINO:
STRENGTH: Mediocre. Somehow I feel like Alya is the stronger one of the two. AGILITY & STEALTH: Medium. I think Ninos agility is not that great, because I don't think he's led a life where he's been threatened a lot. He is such a chill dude that he's not used to reacting quickly. EMOTION: Similar to Adrien, I don't think Nino would make it to the end. I think he would fail before Adrien even. Against certain people Nino would choose not to act and let others win. I think he's someone that loves really deeply. I think he loves others more than himself.
ROSE:
STRENGTH: Low. I honestly was humming and hawing about this. We know Rose is sick, but does that mean she's not strong? Or does it mean she has low stamina? She could be working out in her spare time for all we know. But for this AU I felt like Rose doesn't hold Physical strength as a value. I think mentally Rose is a really strong character and could withstand quite a lot. AGILITY & STEALTH: Medium. Roses Physical condition is not the best, but I think she enjoys moving. EMOTION: I think if Rose could make it through some of the first stages and be paired with a strong team she could go really far. I think she has a certain sense of self righteousness that comes out at times, which could push her to do things she normally would not. The fact that Rose sings Hard Rock Metal makes me feel like there is a side in her that we don't often see. Similar to Alya Rose can see things with a larger perspective in mind and she would play a smart game. If that means she'd have to loose, she would choose to do so.
JULEKA:
STRENGTH: Medium-High. I think Juleka is innately strong. I think her mom would ask her to do a lot of tasks on the boat and she would gain strength naturally. I think she's stronger then Mari, but not as strong as Alya. AGILITY & STEALTH: Low, Medium. Juleka is a bit slow to react. I think she's good at hiding because she doesn't really want to be seen, so she knows how to disappear EMOTION: I think Juleka would be one of the first people to go, mainly because she struggles with self worth. She doesn't actually see what a wonderful person she is, so she may just give up and feel like the world is better off without her T^T. I love how over the mlb seasons Juleka slowly gains confidence and started to love herself more ❤︎
CHLOÉ:
STRENGTH: Medium. I know Chloé doesn't ever lift anything, but I have this feeling that she values strength and secretly works out. That said, she would pretend to be weak when it serves her. AGILITY & STEALTH: Low. I think Chloe never became very coordinated, even with the time she put into pretending to be Ladybug. EMOTION: I have a feeling that Chloe would be one of the earlier people to exit the game. I read before that one consistent measure of success is Grit. Grit is the drive to push on, even when faced with repeated adversity or failure. I don't thing Chloé has Grit, which would result in a lack of drive to push through till the end. I also think she feels alone a lot and I could see the night time sleeping arrangements really getting to her.
LUKA:
STRENGTH: High. I think Luka works out ❤︎ AGILITY & STEALTH: Medium to High. Luka is so in touch with emotions and can see things really clearly that I think he knows his body really well. EMOTION: I actually think Luka would be one of the first people to go. He's such an empathetical person that I don't think he would want to play. I think the only reason he would stay in is to help others make it through a game, but if it came to a one on one, I think he'd surrender. He also believes in others so deeply that I think that he would trust in the strength of his friends.
LILA:
STRENGTH: Medium to High. I feel like she's stronger then Mari AGILITY & STEALTH: High. Lila has lots of hidden skills. I think agility and stealth are two of those. EMOTION: Even though I'm not a fan of Lila, I think she would do quite well in this game. She puts herself before others and is great at manipulating people. I think she's be one of the last ones standing.
I think the last 4 contestants standing would be Rose, Alya, Lila and Mari
This was so hard!!!! I honestly was second guessing myself a lot, especially with Chloé, Rose and Luka. Like, Second chance implies that Luka has a high tolerance for suffering and that he can overcome hardship...would that trump him fighting his friends?!? (๑>ᗝ<)૭ !!!!

I had so much fun drawing this sweet moment ❤︎ In my mind Adrien fell asleep while Mari and him were watching TV. They aren't together yet so seeing Adrien let go of his perfect self tears at Mari's heartstrings. She can't help but continue to talk to him as he is loosing the battle with consciousness, mumbling answers, until his breathing evens out. For a breathless minute Mari is just in awe and the words she's been longing to say are stuck in her throat until she whispers them into existence.

online communities are so strange because people slip away so easily. you can be on here for years, folding people you've never met into the fabric of your daily life, and then they disappear, leaving only ghost posts scattered across tumblr behind. or their blog stays dormant, for weeks, months, years, until you're only still following them because you remember that they love sunflowers or they were kind to you when they didn't have to be or the last thing they posted was sad and raw and you still worry about them sometimes.
and sometimes they come back when you least expect it, years later, even, and there's this sudden rush of relief like there you are, there you are, even though you barely knew each other.
there's a strange kind of love to it. i don't know you and i want to hold your hand across miles and time zones and oceans. i can still see the imprint of you in this community you left. you don't anyone will notice or care when you're gone, but we notice and we care and we wish you well.
i hope you're all okay out there. i hope the sun is shining on your face and you are breathing deeply. i miss you.

Marin Dupain Cheng is nonbinary in my head canon. It's my first time drawing them and they are so pretty T^T!! I'm so in love with them being taller then Adrien and Adrien not knowing how to deal with that. Also please someone correct me if I got their name wrong. Marin was what it said online

Thank you so much for asking! Surprisingly I actually hadn't. I think because I was living in an AU world created in my head. Somehow I kept thinking of stories with Marinette transformed as "Lady Noir" (I call her Dark Paw) rather then "Shadybug".
But since you are asking, I think that since Marinette dislikes Adrien (at least in my head-canon), Shadybug would dislike Adrien too. That said I think being Shadybug would let her see a different side to Adrien, since Griffe Noire in turn dislikes Shadybug too. Untransformed, Adrien doesn't quite know how to interact with Marinette because he really likes her which makes their interactions quite awkward with lots of misunderstandings. But I think Shadybugs interactions with Adrien would be filled with much more heated dislike, which I think Shadybug (Marinette) would know how to deal with better. I could even imagine that she would miss that interaction in her daily life. The simplicity of it. I think for Mari, there is something freeing about telling people off and having someone equally give back in turn. She wouldn't have to put up a front or pretend. I could totally see Mari getting closer with Adrien as a result.

I'm trying to lean more into telling my own stories, so I'm a tad hesitant to say that I will take requests. That said, sometimes someone will say something that makes me really excited and it inspires a storyline in my head which I will draw.

Miraculous Awakening - English and French differences
I was rewatching the Miraculous Awaking movie yesterday and it's so weird how the French and English versions are not the same.
In the English version at the end when Adrien is standing under the light, Marinette calls out "Chat Noir?" And in the French on there is no dialogue here.
Then at the end with Natalie, in the French version Gabriel says: "Please don't tell my son, he'll never understand" (regarding Emily)
And in the English one, they don't have this dialogue at all...
I wonder why they decided not to make the two versions the same?
Automattic will sign a contract with OpenAI for Midjourney to learn off of Tumblr and Wordpress
Hello! Automattic, Tumblr's parent company, will sign a contract with OpenAI and Midjourney so Midjourney can learn off of Tumblr's and WordPress' art and other user data. :) (The full text of this article is copy/pasted in the cut below). You can opt out! but I truly cannot imagine a more idiotic or out of touch decision on the part of Tumblr's CEO.
First thing's first: When/if this goes live, opt out of this immediately. Do this even if you're not an artist. The more people opt out, the less valuable this contract is to Midjourney. in an ideal world, literally all of the active users would opt out, but if we can even get to 50% that's pretty delicious.
Second: Contact Tumblr Support. It's vital that you do this politely. Tumblr staff is not responsible for this decision and the point of doing this is to show the userbase's unwillingness to be involved in this, not harangue Tumblr staff. (Seriously, stop haranguing Tumblr staff). Here's a script:

Midjourney is already embroiled in copyright lawsuits, and it is not possible to train it without compromising copyright, including violating the IP of artists on this site. I strongly protest this contract and will opt out if it goes live. Depending on the privacy terms around what user data is sold to OpenAI and why, it is possible I will leave the platform entirely. Thank you for your time.

Tumblr and Wordpress are preparing to sell user data to Midjourney and OpenAI, according to a source with internal knowledge about the deals and internal documentation referring to the deals.
The exact types of data from each platform going to each company are not spelled out in documentation we’ve reviewed, but internal communications reviewed by 404 Media make clear that deals between Automattic, the platforms’ parent company, and OpenAI and Midjourney are imminent.
The internal documentation details a messy and controversial process within Tumblr itself. One internal post made by Cyle Gage, a product manager at Tumblr, states that a query made to prepare data for OpenAI and Midjourney compiled a huge number of user posts that it wasn’t supposed to. It is not clear from Gage’s post whether this data has already been sent to OpenAI and Midjourney, or whether Gage was detailing a process for scrubbing the data before it was to be sent.
Gage wrote:
“the way the data was queried for the initial data dump to Midjourney/OpenAI means we compiled a list of all tumblr’s public post content between 2014 and 2023, but also unfortunately it included, and should not have included:
private posts on public blogs
posts on deleted or suspended blogs
unanswered asks (normally these are not public until they’re answered)
private answers (these only show up to the receiver and are not public)
posts that are marked ‘explicit’ / NSFW / ‘mature’ by our more modern standards (this may not be a big deal, I don’t know)
content from premium partner blogs (special brand blogs like Apple’s former music blog, for example, who spent money with us on an ad campaign) that may have creative that doesn’t belong to us, and we don’t have the rights to share with this-parties; this one is kinda unknown to me, what deals are in place historically and what they should prevent us from doing.”
Gage’s post makes clear that engineers are working on compiling a list of post IDs that should not have been included, and that password-protected posts, DMs, and media flagged as CSAM and other community guidelines violations were not included.
Automattic plans to launch a new setting on Wednesday that will allow users to opt-out of data sharing with third parties, including AI companies, according to the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, and internal documents. A new FAQ section we reviewed is titled “What happens when you opt out?” states that “If you opt out from the start, we will block crawlers from accessing your content by adding your site on a disallowed list. If you change your mind later, we also plan to update any partners about people who newly opt-out and ask that their content be removed from past sources and future training.”
404 Media has asked Automattic how it accidentally compiled data that it shouldn’t share, and whether any of that content was shared with OpenAI, but did not immediately hear back from the company. 404 Media asked Automattic about an imminent deal with Midjourney last week but did not hear back then, either.
Another internal document shows that, on February 23, an employee asked in a staff-only thread, “Do we have assurances that if a user opts out of their data being shared with third parties that our existing data partners will be notified of such a change and remove their data?”
Andrew Spittle, Automattic’s head of AI replied: “We will notify existing partners on a regular basis about anyone who's opted out since the last time we provided a list. I want this to be an ongoing process where we regularly advocate for past content to be excluded based on current preferences. We will ask that content be deleted and removed from any future training runs. I believe partners will honor this based on our conversations with them to this point. I don't think they gain much overall by retaining it.” Automattic did not respond to a question from 404 Media about whether it could guarantee that people who opt out will have their data deleted retroactively.
News about a deal between Tumblr and Midjourney has been rumored and speculated about on Tumblr for the last week. Someone claiming to be a former Tumblr employee announced in a Tumblr blog post that the platform was working on a deal with Midjourney, and the rumor made it onto Blind, an app for verified employees of companies to anonymously discuss their jobs. 404 Media has seen the Blind posts, in which what seems like an Automattic employee says, “I'm not sure why some of you are getting worked up or worried about this. It's totally legal, and sharing it publicly is perfectly fine since it's right there in the terms & conditions. So, go ahead and spread the word as much as you can with your friends and tech journalists, it's totally fine.”
Separately, 404 Media viewed a public, now-deleted post by Gage, the product manager, where he said that he was deleting all of his images off of Tumblr, and would be putting them on his personal website. A still-live post says, “i've deleted my photography from tumblr and will be moving it slowly but surely over to cylegage.com, which i'm building into a photography portfolio that i can control end-to-end.” At one point last week, his personal website had a specific note stating that he did not consent to AI scraping of his images. Gage’s original post has been deleted, and his website is now a blank page that just reads “Cyle.” Gage did not respond to a request for comment from 404 Media.
Several online platforms have made similar deals with AI companies recently, including Reddit, which entered into an AI content licensing deal with Google and said in its SEC filing last week that it’s “in the early stages of monetizing [its] user base” by training AI on users’ posts. Last year, Shutterstock signed a six year deal with OpenAI to provide training data.
OpenAI and Midjourney did not respond to requests for comment.

Guys I'm so late to this party, but Mob is so good!!!!!!!!!! I seriously just can't with this show, it's just so sweet! I absolutely love how Reigen recontextualizes how we all have worth and that it takes each of us to contribute to create a good society.
A lot of Shonen are about competition, wanting to be the best, as well as beating yourself up for not being enough. And while there are lots of mangas and animes that I love that use these tropes, I find Mob's take on how we can live life and our role in this world so refreshing and wonderful.

Currently obsessed with: Getting to know myself better
This may sound like a weird thing to be obsessed with, but when I was studying art, I felt so behind. Everyone was incredibly good at drawing and I felt that I had so much to learn and improve on. So rather than building a balanced lifestyle that included art as well as my other interests I found myself constantly thinking that if I had time for anything I should draw to get better. That really made me forget what was actually fun for me outside of drawing. I want to emphasize that I absolutely love drawing, but I think there is so much more to life than that. Especially as a creative person, we bring so many of our personal experiences into our art, so having an interest outside of art is incredibly valuable. So over the past three years, I've tried to really find answers to questions like "What truly brings me joy?" and "Who am I". Currently some of these things are reading and taking dance classes. Dance, in particular, has been instrumental in helping me escape the constant stream of thoughts in my mind. Like most artists, I experience moments of imposter syndrome, accompanied by unkind self-talk. However, dance serves as a powerful tool to ground me in the present moment.
