Love your writing! Do you take requests? If so, I would love an Echo x reader (fluff only), maybe where Echo sees the reader is having a bad day and comes to comfort her, confessing his feelings by accident.
Comforting Confessions
Echo X F!reader
word count: 1k
When things seemed to go bad to worse for you, your best friend comes to your aid and in the meantime, maybe let something slip on his behalf.
warnings: SFW, echo has a crush on reader, little bit of angst as reader is emotional, comfort, mostly fluff. Reader is female. Short and fluffy. Cuddles.
authors note: apologies for the delay anon, I hope you enjoy and I’ll assume you wanted female reader. 💜
As the Havoc traveled into the next star system, the air inside the ship was abnormally tense, despite the usual good vibes, laughter, and love. Everybody could pinpoint the source of the tension and yet nobody was willing to confront it, except for Echo.
"Where is she?" Echo's voice rang out as he strode into the cockpit, causing Hunter, who was twirling his viroblade around his fingers, to glance up at his brother.
Echo didn't even have to say your name, as the source of such joy had vanished from view. "I saw her head towards the bunks," Hunter sheathed his blade and crossed his arms over his chest, "Do you have any idea what's bothering her?"
Echo heaved a sigh and shook his head, resenting this sudden shift in the atmosphere. "No, I don't."
"Well," Hunter somewhat chuckled despite the situation, "if she needs to confide in anyone, it would be you." For a moment, Echo tensed up, his eyes widening.
"What makes you say that?" He muttered too quickly for his liking, eliciting an amused expression from the Sergeant, followed by a shake of his head.
"Nothing, just go talk to her. Let's raise the spirits in here, shall we?" Hunter patted Echo's shoulder before disappearing, prompting Echo to make his way towards the vague direction of where you might be.
As expected, you were sat on your bunk, legs hung over the side but as he approached he saw that your eyes were closed yet you were awake.
As he opened his mouth to speak, he quickly realized that he didn't want to disturb your quiet contemplation. Instead, he quietly took a seat beside you, hoping to offer a comforting presence.
There was no mistaking in your mind who had joined you on your bunk, the presence being very obvious to you. Though, you remain quiet despite the small smile that flickered on your lips at the silent gesture from him.
Eventually, you speak which caused Echo to jolt just a tad at the broken silence. “Hello, Echo.”
He raised a brow but smiled warmly at you. “Hey, how’d you know it was me?”
You chew on the inside of your cheek and sneak a glance at him through one eye before shrugging playfully. “Just a hunch.”
Echo analyzes your face and despite the smile you were given him, it was not at all like the ones you would usually give him. It seemed forced and the light in your eyes had gone. “What’s the matter?”
“It…” you were ready to tell him what was on your mind but it was like someone had covered your mouth, silencing your woes, “doesn’t matter.”
Echo frowns at your answer and was determined to not take your response as final. “It does to me.”
You're surprised to feel Echo place his hand under your chin, lifting your head that you just dropped to stare at your lap and instead divert your gaze to his. The touch was new and so were the tingles that ran down your arms as his warm eyes gazed down into yours. “Tell me.” He whispers, almost afraid that if he spoke too loud it’d make you recoil.
“I’m just feeling a little low is all,” you admit, the silent demons in your mind now at the forefront of your thoughts, “just having one of those days. I don’t like bothering people with my trivial issues.”
“So that’s why you came back here?” He gestures to the bunks, his hand dropping from your chin that he slowly flexes as your warmth still lingers.
“Yeah, I guess. Sorry if it’s made any of you feel awkward.” You apologise quickly, panicking that your low mood reflected on the others to which, it kind of did but Echo wasn’t going to tell you that.
Idly, he shifts a little closer to you and sincerely hoped that his leg brushing by yours didn’t put you off but since you didn’t react, he kept it there. He just thought that maybe a little bit of comfort and closeness would lift your mood and slowly, it was. “We’re not uncomfortable nor would we ever be if you’re sad.” He tells you sternly, not once breaking his gaze from you. “I adore you- I mean ‘we’!”
Your eyes wide and you quickly look up at him, searching his face to see if his words were a mistake or not. His brow instantly started to sweat and a deep heat of a blush rose up his cheeks from his neck. “Really?” You ask.
Echo stills, heart racing that he may have just let slip his real and true feelings to you. Your question has his mind reeling, uncertain if you were gesturing to him adoring you or the group as a collective. He takes a breath, collecting himself before nodding. “Yes.”
Your smile reaches your eyes this time and an amused glint sparkles in your gaze. “You do?”
Echo’s breathing was slightly ragged, your eyes always doing something to him and judging by your pleaser reaction he gathered his courage. "Yes," he said, looking you directly in the eyes. "I adore you."
Elated by his comforting confession you lean towards him and rest your cheek against his chest whilst wrapping your arms around him. “Thank you. You’ve always been kind to me.”
Echo relaxes, resting his scomp and hand on your back, rubbing soothing circles. “Of course I am. Is it not obvious you’re my favorite?” He teased you, your laughter loud and bright which was just what the ship had missed.
“Hmm, maybe.” You reply, closing your eyes as you settle into the warm embrace of Echo.
You had cuddled with him like this before and although he insisted he would be uncomfortable to lay against due to his prosthetics, you find yourself thinking the opposite. And the fact that Echo had confessed something rather big to you? It made this hug even better. Your demons were being punched away one by one and although you didn’t say you adored him too, he already knew..
“Now tell me,” Echo says softly, smiling down at you as he admires your beauty, “what’s got you feeling low, beautiful?”

I can't keep this Echo story out of my head. Please enjoy this sappy fluff.
Part One Part Two
Cid started skimming only a third of the tips rather than half which, while it didn’t present an opportunity to save, it did allow for a few extra credits to augment the bland dehydrated portions that left an echo of hunger each day. A small container of black hole pepper was the first acquisition and even the lightest sprinkle made the meal feel more civilized. At the sight of it, the Trandoshan clucked her tongue and rolled her eyes, muttering.
One or other of the boys would join in the nightly walk when they were around. However, Echo volunteered more frequently, and you’d meander together, hands brushing but not clasping no matter how badly the wanted to lest someone see— his insistence, not yours. Always taking different routes to that peaceful place lest someone notice a routine and get ideas.
Once sitting on the windowsill, you’d settle between his legs, leaning back into his chest. His arms would hold you close, and he’d occasionally kiss your temple while in deep discussion about one thing or another. Sometimes there was comfortable silence. It always ended with a long, slow kiss.
One night you’d insisted on swapping positions, wanting to treat him with the same gentleness. Initially, Echo had resisted but relented when it became obvious that you weren’t getting up from the sill. Tentatively, he sat and leaned against you, tense and self-conscious. Then you held him close and stroked his cheek and he melted.
“It doesn’t bother you?” he asked, touching the headpiece and gesturing to everything else that been done to him. “This?”
“No. Not at all,” you said softly.
*
Butterflies. A swarm in your stomach. You couldn’t wait for Cid’s annoyed wave that released you from the cantina. Omega and her brothers were around, and Echo had silently signaled that he would be the one joining the nightly walk. He and his siblings had been gone for a few weeks this time.
You’d hidden a little surprise near Echo’s Alcove – that’s what you’d privately named it – and were excited to share it.
Contrary to Cid’s and Echo’s brothers’ belief, you had some survival skills. Not necessarily skills that were helpful on Ord Mantell, but you could survive in a wilderness for a time. The entire reason was stubbornness and rage incited by another professor’s mocking challenge that you could not possibly make it more than a day on a mountain hike before being defeated and retreating to civilization.
The bet? He didn’t even offer terms if he won, confident that you’d fail. You demanded his speeder, then studied, taking notes that you'd brought on the journey. The journey that wound up lasting three weeks.
You got that speeder.
During the solitary walks through Ord Mantell, you’d salvaged this and that bit of detritus. A few credits were saved to purchase another bit of seasoning and a treat that, in another life, had been common but now felt extravagant.
“You seem . . . anxious,” Tech observed just before you and Echo departed the cantina, having noticed an uncharacteristic giddiness.
“Just eager to leave for a bit,” you said, throwing a bag over your shoulder. “Been a long day.”
“Been a slow day,” Cid muttered. That kriffing woman!
“Be careful,” Tech said. “Both of you.”
*
Echo had gotten comfortable enough to allow you to straddle him while he leaned against the window frame, both lost in a kiss that seemed like it could go on until every star in the galaxy burnt out.
“I made something for you. It’s not . . . I just wanted to—” you faltered, suddenly feeling embarrassed and silly.
After accepting that you genuinely weren’t going to recoil, Echo felt a little bolder and cupped your face with both hands, cherishing the smile that emerged when you felt his warm hand and his metal one at your cheeks.
“What is it?”
You rose and went to the little nearby hideaway you’d found, took out what had been collected, and began assembling it into a makeshift grille while sitting on the floor. From the bag came a fresh nuna leg and the two tiny containers of seasoning.
“I always liked to cook,” you said quietly. “It’s not much, but I wanted to do something nice for you.”
Echo gazed down at you sprinkling the scantest bit of seasoning on the little nuna leg. He understood that you were basically an indentured servant to Cid and that understanding had begun to dig into his chest at the sight of the Trandoshan woman. You had so little, yet you’d spent some of it to cook for him.
You glanced up to see Echo’s eyes glistening and ready to spill over.
“Echo? Are you— I’m sorry,” you wavered, worried that somehow this reminded him of something hurtful. “I didn’t mean to—"
“No! This is—,” he stopped short and moved to sit on the floor next to you, taking your hands in his. “No one has ever . . . –Thank you.”
Echo looked happy and it was the most beautiful sight you’d ever seen.

A/N: I’m pretty sure this is the longest one I’ve written so far lol. I just really love this man 😭💚❤️💚
“GAH!” You mess with your hair one last time before deciding this is as good as it’s going to get.
Echo had finally asked you on a date after years of longing and stolen glances, so you were trying to look just right for him. It just felt like you were never going to reach a contentment with how you appear. Everything felt… too much or not enough. How were you supposed to dress for a date with someone you’ve been in love with for nearly ten years?
“What’s wrong?” Omega appears in the doorway of your fresher.
Since you’d all settled down aside from the occasional job, Cid allowed the guys to turn the upstairs of her bar into an apartment that you all lived in.
“Oh, nothing.” You lie, putting on a smile.
Omega rolls her eyes, clearly not believing you. “Is this about your date with Echo?”
“You know about that?” You ask, putting all your makeup back into your bag.
She sits on the edge of the tub, watching you with a smirk. “You do realize I’m not a little kid anymore, right?”
You chuckle and smile at the girl that you’ve known for five years now. Of course she wasn’t a little kid anymore. Her teenage years were arriving and she probably knew more about life stuff than you realized. You try to be there for her when she asks questions, whether it be about girl stuff or boys or really anything she needs. She’s like the little sister you never had.
“I’d go with the blue dress, by the way. Echo’s favorite color is blue.” She walks back into your room to grab your blue dress from the closet and brings it back to you. “And your hair looks good. Stop messing with it.”
You kiss her on the head with a grateful smile. “When did you get so wise?”
“Learned from the best.” She grins. “Have fun tonight!”
She walks out of your room, closing the door behind her so you can get ready. You quickly pull off your robe to put the dress on and go and do one last onceover before walking over to Echo’s room across the hall. With one last deep breath, you knock on the door a couple of times.
When Echo opens the door, you’re met with a wide smile and the kindest eyes you’ve ever seen. Immediately, your heart goes soft like it always does when you see him. He’s wearing a blue collared, button up and khakis and you just know that Omega had something to do with his outfit.
“Wow… you look beautiful…” Echo looks you up and down, struggling for words. “I mean, you always look beautiful. But wow…”
Warmness creeps into your face at the compliment. “Thank you. You look great, too.”
“You ready to go?” He offers his flesh arm and you nod, taking it.
“Have fun you two.” Hunter calls from the living room.
“But not too much fun!” Wrecker calls from the kitchen.
Echo rolls his eyes as he opens the front door so you two can leave. You can’t help but laugh. The support of all the Batchers means everything to you. You spent so much time worrying about whether or not they’d allow it or support it.
“They’re too much.” Echo shakes his head.
“Yeah, but they mean well.” You squeeze your hand over his as you lean into him while you walk toward wherever it is that Echo planned your date.
You walk in comfortable silence for a bit until you realize you’re headed to the park. The sun has finally set and you’re able to notice the Life Day light displays throughout the park.
“Oh wow!” You grin eagerly.
“You like it?” Echo walks toward a vendor stand selling hot cocoa and caf.
“I love it. I’ve never seen lights like this.” You tell him, unable to look away from all the lights.
“How many?” The vendor asks.
“Just one.” Echo holds up a finger.
You give him a curious look. “You don’t want one?”
“I thought it’d be more romantic if we shared? Unless you’re worried about germs?” He teases as he pays the vendor.
“I don’t mind your germs.” You laugh, rolling your eyes.
Echo chuckles and hands you the cup of cocoa and takes your hand. Looking down between you at your hands, you squeeze his hand and then look back up at him. Your hands fit together perfectly. He smiles down at you as if you’re somehow more to look at than the beautiful lights.
Echo leads you down the path where a tunnel of soft white lights starts you out. You look up at the arch and then through it at the lights at the end of it. Somehow in the last five years, you’d never seen this Life Day light display.
“My mother used to take me to Life Day light displays when I was a kid…” You tell Echo, handing him the cocoa. “She used to work a lot… but she always made time during the Life Day season to do fun things like this.”
Echo gives you a soft smile, encouraging you to continue as he takes a drink. He’s always been so patient with you.
“I always think of her during Life Day… It was easy to forget about during the war…” You tell him as he hands you back the cup. “But since the end of the war… It's like, I don’t want to forget anymore… I love celebrating with Omega, giving her the things that I had as a child… I love celebrating with you.”
You near the end of the light tunnel and are able to see all the light displays even clearer now. It really is beautiful and you couldn’t be more glad that this is where Echo took you for your first date.
“I love celebrating with you, too.” Echo admits. “I didn’t have things like this before… so it’s nice. Makes me feel like a regular person.”
“Well, you are now.” You grin.
“I suppose you’re right.” He nods like he’s remembering he’s no longer a soldier.
You look up toward the archway of lights, noticing the mistletoe and stop Echo. When he gives you a confused look, you point up.
“Oh-” He becomes flustered.
“If you don’t want-” You start to apologize, not wanting to make him uncomfortable, and start walking.
“Wait.” He grabs your hand and pulls you back toward him.
He grins down at you, wrapping his scomp arm around your lower back to pull you near and cups your face. It makes you happy knowing that he doesn’t mind touching you with it. You remember years back when the thought of you even touching it wasn’t an option. He’s come so far.
You both have.
“I’ve been wanting to do this every year for the last five years.” He chuckles.
He leans in toward you and you meet him halfway, eagerly. His lips are as soft as the first time you kissed a couple weeks ago and he tastes like the peppermint cocoa you’ve been drinking. It’s enough to make you a little dizzy, going warm and fuzzy all over. When he pulls away, he takes his time opening his eyes.
“Have I mentioned how much I love doing that?” He asks, softly.
“Have I mentioned how much I love you doing that as well?” You reach up to kiss him again.
“Photo?” A man with a camera comes up to ask you.
“Please.” Echo hands the man a credit and takes the cup of cocoa, sitting it down out of the way so he can pull you into his arms, dipping you as he kisses you.
The man snaps the photo and when Echo doesn’t pull away from you immediately, the man waits a moment before clearing his throat, awkwardly.
“Oh. Sorry.” Echo pulls you back up and takes the photo from the man, grinning down at it before showing you. “You look absolutely beautiful. I’ll never get over how lucky I am.”
“Stop.” You go warm in the face and take the photo from him to look at it.
The lights all around you shine around the two of you so perfectly and Echo is smiling into the kiss as you cup his cheek. It’s definitely going by your bedside when you get home.
“Let’s go look at some lights.” Echo hands you the drink from the ground again and takes your hand, kissing it before continuing down the path.
You’re pretty sure that your future with this man is even more bright than all of these lights combined.

25 Days of Life Day Masterlist
You’ve spent all year, saving every penny, doing odd jobs and such to make sure that The Batch would have a great Life Day. Especially Omega. Since you've joined the Batch, you’ve become a motherly, or big sisterly type to the girl. Everything you do anymore, is for her. To give her a good life. She deserves the best.
Sometimes, that can be hard, being on the go at all times.
“IT’S LIFE DAY EVERYONE! WAKE UP! HUNTER LOOK!” Omega’s excited voice wakes everyone up.
You sit up in your bed, rubbing your eyes, already smiling to yourself as you watch Omega run back and forth between everyone’s rooms to wake them up. You leave your room to go into the kitchen to pour yourself a cup of caf that Omega had been incredibly smart to make. You love that kid.
Walking into the living area, you sit down on the couch as Omega plops down next to you, slinging her arms around your neck as you take a sip of caf.
“You’re the best! Thank you!” She rests her cheek on your shoulder, grinning widely at the presents underneath the tree. “Hey, now. They’re not all for you.” You chuckle.
Echo comes and sits down on your other side, resting his arm around you as you rest your head on his shoulder.
“Don’t fall back asleep!” Omega playfully shakes you.
“Grab the rest of your brothers then, please.” You laugh.
“Hunter! Tech! Wrecker!” Omega goes back through the hallway to go wake up the guys.
You smile at Echo. “Good morning.”
“Good morning.” He kisses you on the head. “She has no idea does she?”
“None.” You grin.
You’d been working on Omega’s gift behind her back for the last couple months and you were excited to finally give it to her. In fact, you were excited to give all of them their gifts.
“Do you want breakfast?” Hunter comes in and sits down where Omega was seated before.
“After she opens gifts. She may combust if we don’t let her soon.” You laugh.
Omega was absolutely vibrating with excitement. Finally, Wrecker and Tech come out, still in their pajamas just like the rest of you. Tech sits in the chair by the side of the couch that Echo is sitting on and Wrecker the other.
“Now?” Omega gives you wide, pleading eyes.
“Now.” You smile, leaning into Echo a little more.
He squeezes your shoulder as she goes for your gift first, immediately ripping open the nicely wrapped package that you had put together. When she sees the large red crocheted blanket with a giant skull in the middle, she squeals with delight, coming and hugging you.
“I love it, thank you!” She puts it around herself as she goes back to the tree.
Next, she opens up Hunter and Wrecker’s gift that they’d been working on all week. It’s the rest of the batch set to go with her clone trooper doll. How sweet.
She pulls out Echo’s next. Her own tool set to help him and Tech with repairs if she wants. He knows how much she loves tinkering. You grin at Echo, excited that she seems to love the gift, knowing it makes him happy as well. She gets up to wrap her arms around him.
Last is Tech’s gift. You’d been curious as to what he got her or made for her. He didn’t let anyone know what it was before. She goes to open it and everyone watches curiously.
She looks up at Tech with big eyes. “My own holopad?”
You all look at Tech. He’s smiling, softly.
“As long as you take care of it, yes.” He nods.
She gets up and gives him a hug, wrapping his arms around her.
The guys all open their gifts from you next. Tech; new tools. Wrecker; The biggest box of snacks ever. Hunter; A new knife. And Echo… you know he’s happy with anything. But, you had contacted Rex and asked for that photo of Echo, Fives, Cody, and Rex so you could make a physical copy of it. You know that Echo really misses Fives a lot, so you wanted to do something meaningful.
Echo thanks you by kissing you, resting his forehead against yours. “How’d I get so lucky?”
“This one's for you.” Omega excitedly hands you a small box and you look around at all the guys. “From all of us.”
They’re all smiling or grinning. You weren’t expecting anything at all, so you can’t help but stare down at the box, speechless.
“Open it, cyare.” Echo murmurs, kissing your shoulder.
“You guys-” You start.
“Just open it.” Hunter laughs.
You open the box and find a new reader. And underneath it is a photo in a nice frame of you and the entire Batch.
“Now, you can read all your books anywhere we go!” Omega rests her head on your knee.
You run your fingers through her hair. “Thank you. From the bottom of my heart. I love you guys so much.”
“And we love you.” Echo tells you. “But especially me.”
You laugh as Wrecker starts to eat his snacks, which Hunter tells him he’s about to make breakfast and to put the snacks away.
“Happy Life Day!” Omega tells you, taking Hunter’s spot which was hers first.
“Happy Life Day!” You grin, looking at your family with the most love and adoration.
This would be a Life Day to remember for sure.

Hello I was wondering if I could request an echo x gn reader where either the bad batch and omega or the 501st(i can't choose) try to get them together only to find out that they are already together?
hello! i went with the 501st for this one, i hope you enjoy it!! it can be read as a continuation of my echo fic "stolen moments of peace and quiet," or it can be read as a standalone work.
words: 1,577
summary: After deciding that you're apparently meant to be, Fives and Jesse are dead set on getting you and Echo to confess your feelings for each other. There's just one little issue: you don't really need their help in the relationship department.
clone troopers masterlist
When Jesse stepped into the lounge of the Resolute, he was met with a surprising sight. Usually the room was empty, or there were a few troopers lounging around between their duty shifts, but this time the sight was a little more interesting. You and Echo were curled up together on the couch, your head on Echo’s shoulder and both your breaths were steady and even. It was clear that you’d be in this position for a while, as the blanket you were sharing had fallen down to just rest on your laps and the two of you wore matching peaceful expressions on your faces.
Jesse tiptoed quietly around the room and grabbed a canteen of water from the chiller, careful not to let his footsteps make too much noise and wake either of you up. He couldn’t help but linger at the doorway and watch you for a moment more, because this was such a rare occasion for both you and Echo that he was glad you found the chance to take some time to yourselves. Life in the 501st could be crazy and chaotic, and everyone needed a good nap every once in a while.
As he closed the door to the lounge behind him, Fives appeared in the hallway. “Hey, did you know Echo is seeing someone?” Jesse asked. If anyone knew about the development in yours and Echo’s relationship, it would be Fives, as the two troopers were extremely close.
But much to Jesse’s surprise, his brother looked at him with an expression of complete and utter confusion. “No he’s not, what are you talking about?”
Jesse just pointed to the door of the lounge, and waited as Fives poked his head into the room and took in the sight of Echo cuddling with you on the couch. “I know what it looks like, but they’re not together,” Fives said. “He’s a little infatuated right now, but he hasn’t made a move or anything.”
“But-”
“I know, but he would have told me if he did something,” Fives said. “At this point it’s been months, I think the only way he’d act actually say something about it was if he was forced to.”
“Why?”
“He’s convinced that his feelings are not reciprocated.”
Jesse raised his eyebrows. “I’ve been in the medbay when the two of you come in with injuries, and the attraction between those two is obvious. If that’s not clear proof I don’t know what is.”
“That’s what I told him!” Fives said. “But he’s just not listening to me.”
“Okay, maybe we need to stage some kind of situation for them to admit how they feel to each other,” Jesse said, his mind already racing and coming up with different ideas to help his friends.
“After seeing that scene in there, I definitely agree,” Fives said. “Otherwise nothing will ever happen.”
***
After their little discovery, Jesse and Fives worked together to try and put you and Echo in situations where you would be close to each other.
First, they tried the good old fashioned trick to lock the two of you in a closet. Kix thought they were both being a little stupid, but agreed to hide your keys just to humor them (he would never admit it to his meddling brothers, but he thought you and Echo would be good together). What they didn’t count on was the fact that you had an extra set of keys in the pocket of your uniform at all times, because as a child you had a habit of locking yourself in places and not being able to get out. It also wasn’t ideal that the closets in the medbay locked from both the inside and the outside, so as long as you had a key you could get out. It had gone wrong from the beginning though, because Echo was called into a meeting with Rex almost immediately after they had locked the two of you in there, so there wasn’t even time for an awkward conversation about what you were doing there.
Next, Fives tried to talk to Echo, telling him a made up story where the moral was to always act on one’s feelings, but Echo took it the wrong way, thinking that Fives needed his help (or at least some reassurance) to go and ask out the mechanic that he was always talking about. Fives did in fact need a little reassurance, but that was not the point here. No matter how many times he tried to insinuate that Echo potentially could make some changes in his life, it was like the point went right over his brother’s head, and eventually it became obvious that this strategy to get him to confess was going to be absolutely useless.
Jesse even tried to talk to you, asking you what you were going to be doing during the 501st’s upcoming shore leave when Echo was in earshot, but you just shrugged and said you weren’t sure yet. He then tried to invite you to 79’s with the rest of boys (where he would make sure you and Echo ended up at the table by yourselves for a while), but you just shook your head and said that it was always a little loud in there for your taste, and that maybe you would try to do something else while you had some free time.
The worst part was that whole time they tried to get you to realize your feelings, you and Echo acted like you should be a couple already. Fives and Jesse found you and Echo asleep together in the lounge at least two more times, and apparently Kix had stumbled upon a similar scene at some point too. Whenever you woke up and had some time before your shift in the medbay, you always went to the ship’s lounge, and there was always a cup of caf waiting there for you (that Echo had made, but he always joking told Fives to go make his own caf when he asked if it was for him). The sheer sight of you two sitting together and sharing breakfast all the time was making Jesse a little crazy, and Fives was convinced that you weren’t together, because Echo would have told him if you were.
“I have no idea how we could get them to say something to each other,” Jesse said to Fives as they walked through the halls together after a meeting. “It seems they physically cannot understand that they’re in love with each other.”
“I know,” Fives responded. “I think at this point we may have to just sit by and watch them pine like idiots.” They were passing the lounge and decided to stop in for a cup of caf, but what they found when the doors opened was more interesting anyway.
You and Echo were kissing. Scratch that, what you were doing could only be described as making out, right in front of the caf machine, and neither of you had apparently heard the door open. Fives just stood there with a shocked expression on his face, and Jesse cleared his throat.
When you realized that you had company in the room, your eyes widened and you pulled away from Echo. You opened your mouth, likely to apologize, but Jesse cut you off. “Wait, you two are together?” You and Echo exchanged looks before nodding in sync. “How long has this been going on?”
Echo’s voice was quiet as he responded. “Six months.”
Jesse was going to say something, but Fives entered the conversation. “You’ve been seeing someone for six months and you didn’t tell me?”
That’s my fault,” you said. “I wanted to keep things on the down low for a while, and Echo says that you’re not the best at keeping secrets.”
Fives gaped, but he really couldn’t say anything in response (there was a reason no one told Fives who the general was married to). “Were you ever going to say anything?”
“Of course!” Echo responded. “Things just get busy when you’re fighting a war.”
Jesse nodded, that definitely couldn’t be understated. They had hopped across more planets and fought in more battles recently, and it only seemed that the Separatists were ramping up their offensives. “Wait,” he cut in, a realization dawning on him. “You sat by and watched us attempt to get you together, and you didn’t think to say ‘oh don’t worry you two, we’ve already got this under control?’”
You and Echo looked at each other before sharing a laugh and responding. “We were going to let you in on the secret soon,” Echo said. “But we also thought it was funny that you kept trying to set us up.”
“Plus, we thought it would be kind of obvious, given the amount of time we’ve fallen asleep on that couch,” you said with a smile.
Jesse and Fives just stood there, still trying to process the situation. “I hate you both,” Fives said, but everyone knew he was just joking around.
Echo just laughed. “Sorry vod. Next time I have big news, you’ll be the first person I tell, alright?”
“I’m holding you to that,” Fives responded. “Now just don’t make out again in front of me and I think we’ll be alright.”
Now it was your turn to laugh (because this was exactly what Echo said would happen if his batchmate found out). “You’ve got yourself a deal.”

I think Hunter is referring to his “goodbye” from TCW season 7 where Echo decides to leave Rex. I think the message was like - if Echo ever feels like he doesn’t fit in with them, then the bad batch will be there for him.
no but the way that they've been setting up Echo to leave the Batch over the past two seasons???
Echo being the one to jump at the chance to help Rex the first time he showed up in season 1.
Echo being the one to vouch in favor of saving Gregor.
Echo constantly suggesting the Batch should be working with Rex.
At the beginning of "Truth and Consequences", when Echo is talking to Omega, and he says: "This is where I fit. Where I was needed."
The look Echo and Hunter share after Rex calls them about coming to Coruscant.
When Rex mentioned that they were spread thin, and needed more help, and how the scene lingered on Echo just a little bit longer.
also, just, in general, the way these two episodes called back to the vibes of "Orders", from the hanger that Rex and Riyo bring the assassin, to the paranoia and hunting of the clones who know too much.
and the fact that the Batch was so warm to Echo when they were saying their goodbyes? It was obvious that this is something Echo's been thinking about, and something he talked to them about before making the choice at the end of the episode. (Also i'm VERY interested to know what Hunter is referring to when he said goodbye to Echo)
Echo left Rex when the Batch needed him. Now he's left the Batch when Rex needs him.
I will RIOT if we don’t get Howzer back this season!
Do y’all think we’ll ever see Howzer again? 😞
